Thanks Mathijs, guess that settles it, Bill is the bassist! Never thought I'd listen to that track so many times :-)

QuoteTestify To be honest I don't recognize Bill's style in this song. So I don't know, but on that album the bass was also played by Robbie Shakespeare, but I don't know about that song. My thoughts as well, was listening to the alternate outtake and dance version on youtube after seeing this thread and it is not reminding me of Bill. More like something Robbie would do.

ICMR sero survey says two-thirds of Indians exposed to Covid Considering such massive exposure and currently dropping death toll, India seems on a good track. That's like 1 billion infections. Is the death toll really that high there then? Let's assume (pessimistically) the death toll was 10 times larger at 4 million. That gives 0.4%, much lower than the normally seen 2%.

Quotedaspyknows Two interesting articles on this that do not mention age. Lots of other reasons and some more troubling than others. Your age "analysis" is just two data points. One from your fingers from typing and the other from where you referenced. Thank you for sharing these, that article from the New Yorker was excellent, increasing my awareness of the many possible f

Yes, the fact that the hospitals are not getting overloaded like last year points to the success of the vaccination strategy. Not only in the UK, but in all of Europe and North America.

Are the financial rewards their motivation at this late stage of the game? I would like to think they just want to get out and perform while they still can. Planning a tour at this point could be a waste of time until the Covid situation is clearer. I'd love them to release some live video performances in the meantime. But they are probably camping out in separate continents for the time bei

QuotedaspyknowsTo answer your question. YES. Median age is not the reason countries in Africa haven't been hammered yet. If you think that is the reason, you need to check your sources. You seem so confident in your knowledge. Please, share your source, unless it's coming out from where the sun don't shine.

Quite a mixup from the PM! The remaining 40% admitted are therefore completely or partially vaccinated. Still a high number, I would have expected the vaccinated not to get so sick as to need hospital treatment.

Quotedaspyknows Quoteskytrench The reason Covid hasn't been a massive problem in places like developing Africa must lie in the fact the average age is much lower there. Nope, nobody has really died of covid. It is all a giant hoax. It hasn't been noticed as a massive problem in some places because of reduced travel and lack of medical care and reporting. On the other hand India s

The fact that "vaccinated people are getting minor to moderate covid infections" raises questions about the reasons for vaccinating youth and the risks incurred. For the vulnerable elder politicians and other susceptible groups, in my view, vaccination should be recommended. The reason Covid hasn't been a massive problem in places like developing Africa must lie in the fact the

QuotetreaclefingersIt's sort of interesting, the rationalization that go on. If the death rate isn't peaking as before (and we know that's because most older people already are vaccinated), some people don't feel the urgency to get vaccinated even though hospitalizations are going up. What rationalization are you talking about? The UK is very well vaxxed as you probably kno

QuoteTheBluesHadaBaby Unless I'm mistaken, Covid Delta HAS proven to be less lethal than original Covid, among the unvaccinated, too. Over twice as infectious, but less lethal when you do catch it. I'm not sure, though, that that finding is controlled for our having figured out better treatment protocols for the seriously ill than we had in 2020, and the current lower mortality rate bei

Quotebleedingman But IF it was engineered in a lab to get stronger (theoretically) as it mutated, become MORE infectious, evade vaccines, and possibly become more deadly over time, wouldn't all bets be off as to what to expect? Since mutations are random, how can the virus be engineered to develop in a certain direction? The hat's on for the ones that evade and spread better/more

Seeing that vaccinated persons are now hosting the virus, albeit with less death, mutations will occur and it could be desirable that a less deadly mutation emerges, that is more infectious and spreads far, thereby protecting populations naturally against the more deadly strains. (not wishing sickness upon anyone, but rather sick than dying).

QuotetreaclefingersIt's one thing when you hear garbage spewing from morons on social media but quite another when the 'authorities' can't come to agreement based on the evidence and speak with one voice. Very worrying that they are experimenting with different strategies without knowing what's best. Who do you trust?

Good one, I agree with your post GasLightStreet, in the bigger scheme of things, it's not a big deal. I still feel it's a ridiculous project with little to gain and the resources used could be better applied elsewhere.

QuoteGasLightStreet The discourse regarding Richard Branson is ridiculous. What he's involved in is an issue? There is so much going on every day to make what he's doing or has done with "going into space", whatever, so minute, that it's ridiculous. And if those that are contriving up such a storm of judgement, why aren't you concerned with such everyday issues?

Yes, it would be sad if Branson's moment in space became a trend for more gluttony. Richard seemed happy as a kid in his rocket plane and it's sweet to see his big smile there! You won't see me on a spaceship unless the world is going under or a UFO captures me, but then I would not be one of the chosen few anyway. Bob Marley, damn the cancer, what a standout artist.

Envy, no, just calling out Branson's foolish obsession. It was good you brought this up, so we could discuss this here. There really is no reason for him to go to space and waste all those resources, it's disrespectful. I'm pretty sure Bob would agree!

True, thats his choice, no doubt an amazing person, but in light of the earth's current predicaments a rather selfish project. Pay your ticket, take your Covid test and evacuate...but to where? A handful billionaires living on a space station? Earth is still, by far, the most attractive place to be.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Do we know that yet? If so, don't be surprised if it will be like the flu vaccine: yearly. No. It's speculation. The hope is Covid will be subdued by herd-immunity, which can be accelerated by vaccination. But mandating experimental vaccines is not playing it safe. Like the flu or cold, covid could be circulating for a long time.

Since there is little chance the global population will be vaccinated it's futile to mandate vaccinations in the hope of eradicating Covid. Close the borders and vaccinate your country? If the vaccination protected longterm like polio or smallpox then maybe, but this one needs boosters all the time. So whats the point of vaccinating the youth, they don't need it to survive, the elders
