QuoteTopi Nikkei, sorry, but what part of this do you not understand? There was a tour planned for this summer, all ready to go, venues booked - but they had to scrap it at the last minute before it was supposed to be announced in February. See the links to BV's posts I posted yesterday. Or the quotes in Hairball's post. Now, I don't know how many people booked travel base

QuoteHairball QuoteNikkei QuoteHairball I'm sure that's the hope, just as it was to tour the US this year, but as we know those plans changed abruptly at the last moment before the announcement. again with the narrative spinning: there was no announcement so there did not exist any last moment shortly before the announcement. hope is something very different from inhabiting a make

"Toronto suffered badly from the SARS outbreak. Someone decided that a massive concert could be the emotional and economic boost we needed" fast forward 20 years: everyone and their dog was projected to suffer badly from the proposed SARS2 outbreak. someone decided that two years of agony without any concerts or cultural life could be just what we needed

i mean, this is international. some of us trying hard to make sense while native speakers don't try very hard to crack jokes. "some contemporary artists: maybe the likes of ed sheeran, harry styles, justin bieber and taylor swift" who is meant by that? people of that category but not the ones listed? lookalikes? "imagine who we met there: the likes of taylor swift"?

First time I heard about that. Publicitywise, that would have been the worst rooftop to choose in all of west Berlin. Good thing they didn't

I meant literally, Keith gave a very large lemon to Fallon, who during his next visit showed off a little tree in a pot that he managed to grow out of one of the seeds, or so he claimed, anyway

If Keith gives you lemons, you can grow your own lemon tree. If he writes "this is the life" you should take that with a grain of salt. If that makes you think of tequila it's probably a coincidence

QuoteDan Quotegotdablouse Didn't the 2007 tour end with empty sections ? The Stade de France was pretty tarped according to reports I read. Maybe that was blamed on Cohl ? The Rolling Stones regularly played to empty seats since the Voodoo Lounge tour. All part of the biz. You can of course laconically dismiss a possible explanation just like that but then you'll prompt some guy lik

At the outset of post 2012 touring they only planned as far as two shows in London and three in New York. From what I remember some tasteless wrestling promoter called Mcmahon tried to get himself involved. Since then the schedules have become "extensive" and it's probably a somewhat different business model than what Cohls company used to set in motion.

There's still this sense of entitlement between the lines: If we don't get to see yet another tour, we are entitled to see them limping about on crutches. My opinion in hindsight is that their best point to quit touring would have been 2014. That was when a whole new generation of fans could experience the real thing. Much less of that during No Filter from what I saw. They can't r

You need to look at the context of the timeline in which the speculative economy developed. Deals like Michael Cohl made just didn't exist before neoliberalism took off.

It's much too dependent on personification, the artists public image, the idolization to survive as an art form on its own merit. The Blues would be a different story but had no mainstream popularity in the first place.

Suggesting the Stones should cover Yellow Submarine for the sole reason of roping Ringo in marks this as spam which is disrespectful towards all the posters who still try to engage in constructive speculation like 5stringsenuff did above

I get the case you're making about the cohesiveness of the records but how is that screwing you for money? Do you mean the missing tracks made you order the different editions already in the 60s? That would be avantgarde anticipating of the collector scene. Or is it more un the way of some pennypincher dividing the price of the packet with the number of cigarettes?

Between the lines they make the point that it was only brought to a court in Louisiana because it was the Louisiana-based lawyer who thought that would be a nice case to make. From a legal standpoint it's rational to approach it that way instead of getting into the topic itself, but as always, such legal statements from multimillion-dollar enterprises come across as a bit limp. We'll ha
