Quoteretired_dog Well, I'm sure that without Covid and Charlie's death, we would already hold the new album in our hands. I think it's pretty obvious that these major incidents threw them off the rails. No need to phantasize about secret codes, hitting the wall or stuff like that. From A Bigger Bang in 2005 thru to Covid in 2020, 15 years wandering the switching yards, crossov

Leeds crushes this and I'll take L&G with worse sonics because the performance is incredible and they were at their absolute peak. QuoteHairball The first thing I want to think about is Mick singing them and the Rolling Stones performing them - not Mick and his solo band, or Keith and his solo band. Maybe some would be happy if Mick called himself "The Rolling Stones" with a hired cast of highly skilled guest musicians to fill in for the real members. Can't imagine that myself and hope it never comes to

I simply don’t hear this as anything BUT a club show. As someone who attended the Enmore Theatre Licks show in Sydney in 2003, THIS IS what it sounded like. Loud, shambolic (in a GREAT STONES WAY), RAW and “heavy” WITH a slight reverb in Micks vocal. Side 3 on LYL, which I love, sounds a bit thin compared to what the Enmore sounded like. So to me, THIS is truly representative. A FANTASTIC, gr

QuoteHairball QuoteGasLightStreet Keith's point of view is accurate about Mick's tour: Keith Richards (August 1988): Mick in Japan I thought it was very sad that a high percentage of his show was Rolling Stones songs. If you're going to do something on your own, do stuff off the two albums you did. Don't pretend you're a solo artist and have two chicks prancing around

QuoteShootsWaterRats Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I think the sound on this release is disappointing for all the reasons one might anticipate these days: brickwalled, compressed, fake reverb added. It's like Bob Clearmountain is trying to appeal to today's youth audience that is used to music being overly processed and polished. I'm baffled by comments from I

QuoteTopi I don't know if a new album would have made much of a difference on ticket sales, you have to remember that most patrons at a given show will still be casual fans who are there to hear the greatest hits/warhorses. I think it’s a cumulative effect. Imagine 4 new albums of original material in the nearly 18 years since the last one, a couple of songs from each as the tours/years we

Don’t get me wrong. IF they announced a club show or RAH and I was ABLE to score tickets, I’d fly in from PERTH. I love them. But I get why people might be reticent if all they hear is they same old same old. I AM envious of those attending. But I can’t bear to spring for flights to Europe, Accommodation and spending monies and tickets to a huge show if it’s the same show I saw in Adelaide or PER

Could it also be that the fans know they’ll get the same set list as they got years and years ago? Nothing new to hear apart from perhaps Living in a Ghost Town. So why pay to see the same old same old. Pity. A new album, three or four new tracks and maybe, maybe some (some) of those sitting on the fence might have bought tickets. The Stones bought this on themselves perhaps?

Quotestraycatuk QuoteTheBlockbuster Ronnie's guitar sound is a bit tweaked (especially on Hot Stuff). I wish they didn't feel the need to "fix" these releases and add a bunch of delay. Not everything has to sound like it was recorded yesterday. The problem with the sound on these releases is that the final say is made by a 78 year old who's been on stage for 60 years. H

Given the choice, I’d rather Keith’s 3 solo than Mick’s 4. And I quite enjoy Mick’s last 3. Never really got into She’s the Boss, except Just Another Night which I’ve secretly loved since first hearing it!
