Little Richard, Right Now (rec. 1973, rel. 1974) Great, but often overlooked album, produced by Robert "Bumps" Blackwell. Timeless, rootsy sound. First re-release on vinyl since the late 1970s. Now with updated artwork, remastered etc. Here's an excerpt from an old vinyl rip of the original: The Best Of The Wailers (rec. 1970, rel. 1971) Despite the title this is not a &qu

Quotededospegajosos Imagine you had to pick just one Rolling Stones Album to listen for the rest of your life...but you must choose between Dirty Work, Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge, Bridges, A Bigger Bang and Hackney Diamonds. Just one, all others will cease to exist, including pre Dirty work albums Go As Dirty Work is my favorite Rolling Stones album, this is easy. Dirty Work it is.

Quotebobo When did they make a real solid album from start to finish? Never. Overrated all the way through. Every album sounds the same. Weak songs, a riff here and there that is good. That is it, for me though. "Let There Be Rock" (international version).

Little Richard's "Pray Along With Little Richard Vol. 1 & 2" (1960) are two of his best albums and fantastic, southern gospel albums featuring authentic recordings of the music he grew up with. Interestingly Richard is not using his shouting Rock & Roll style voice, but sings in a full baritone. I Want Jesus To Walk With Me: Troubles Of The World:

One of the best things the Rolling Stones have ever recorded. The essence of the band – unadorned, raw, mysterious and dirty. Loud and distorted guitar by Keith, cool vocals and great blues harmonica by Mick. I wish they'd do a whole album like that, because no one sounds like those two guys in that setting.

QuoteLeonidP QuoteRisingStone How do I feel about the “hot chick” bit for the Angry video? So clichéd! Been there done that. So many times. So obsolete. This is 2023. Not 1972. They are now seventy and eighty-something. I wish the boys moved on. But that’s the Stones for you, after all. Not quite 60 yet myself, so I guess I'm not yet bored with looking at hot women. It's funny how opinions about the band's work can differ – "Dirty Work" has been my favorite Rolling Stones album since I first heard it on the day of release. It's everything I hoped it would be – raw and dirty rock & roll, blues, R & B, reggae and funk. I love every track on it. Since it's the last album by the band to feature Ian Stewart, I also consider i

Quotesf37 Personally, this is among my favourite Stones tracks. I always thought it to be criminally underated, in being one of their few singles that has never (or rarely, at best) been included within a Stones "greatest hits" package. Same here. Fantastic song off my favorite Rolling Stones album.

QuoteBig Al QuoteHairball QuoteBig Al So, Keith is reportedly unhappy with this so-called ‘modern’ producer. It’s 2023! Until his misgivings - which we’ll never know, I’m sure - are aired, any issues Keith has will remain meaningless to us. There’s no context. What is it that this producer is doing ‘wrong’, exactly? It’s not a contemporary R&B or dance-oriented record, is it? It’s a ‘rock’ re

Robert Johnson is no longer a phantom. "Up Jumped the Devil" (2019) by Bruce Conforth and Gayle Dean Wardlow is the result of over 50 years of research and includes incredibly detailed information about his family, the places where Johnson lived and traveled, about his wife and girlfriends, his death and his burial (he was buried twice, actually). In addition "Brother Robert"

Quote24FPS Can't disagree more. Undercover is one of their worst, and Dirty Work is no treat. Babylon sounds dated. Between the Buttons is slight, compared to their other sixties work. And of course Satanic Majesties is a bit of trainwreck, with some redeeming tracks. If they do release a new album they will have passed many legends on longevity, including the imperial Duke Ellington. Of

Quotemkbbcmr "Back Of My Hand" sounds "somewhat sterile"? I beg to differ. The "detached" vocals, the dystopian lyrics ("Goya's paranoias" indeed) and the rawness of the recording add up to anything but sterile. Great track. Best track on ABB.

Quotewiredallnight Why should I buy vinyl records in mono? It's like buying a VHS cassette in black & white. Stereo for consumer use was first introduced in 1958. In the late 1950s and in the 1960s most LPs were usually released in separate mono and stereo versions. Singles were always in mono up until the late 1960s. In the late 1950s stereo LPs had a market share of well under 20% in

QuoteIrix QuoteMrEcho The extension of the protection from 50 to 70 years does not have anything to do with date of fixation (= recording) that defines recordings that are protected. Quoterbk It's a fun show, worth the time and money spent if you don't take it too seriously. I saw them a few years ago without Perry who'd just had a heart attack. Alice plays Alice mostly strutting around with a fencing sword and Depp plays a rock star acting like he's playing guitar pretty convincingly. The set list is Classic Rock 101. Johnny Depp does not have to act like
