Quoteopen-gDo you mean this article? good read anyway. Yes, that's it. Hard copy has a few more photos but otherwise it looks the same.

For those in the UK who can bring themselves to buy it ( and, for the Stones, I did) the Live section of today's paper has an extended article re SAL with nice photos (stills from the film and mostly promo photos from AB plus comments from all principals (yes even one from Charlie) from Berlin. Mick and Keith both remarkably benign re each other.

Quotewith sssoul>> Keith spent so much time in years past stirring it when Mick arranged sponsorship of Stones tours << can you point us to some examples of that, please and thank you? or to put it a little more clearly: i recall journalists/fans wrinkling their noses over tour sponsors, but i'm not sure i recall Keith doing that. I would cite his much quoted animosity to

I don't mind him cashing in, I'd rather it was for a classy barnd like LV and I think the photos are fab. BUT I do think it's a bit ironic that Keith spent so much time in years past stirring it when Mick arranged sponsorship of Stones tours and implying he was against the move and yet he turns out to be the first Glimmer (I think I'm right in saying Mick has never personally

QuoteGazzaQuoteLady JayneQuoteDanI get the feeling they are going to attempt another world tour on the usual timeline starting in the fall. Once BV said Asia next year that was the idea I started to get. No set commissioned from the usual suspects so a bit unlikely, no? Actually they DID apparently commission a stage design a few months ago for an arena tour in 2008. It would appear that for

Quotetramp66646A lot of people besides just gangster types carry gun's. Many practically every time they leave their homes, so who know's why this guy had one with him on this particular day? Seem's it shouldn't have been too hard to have found out at the time if he was somehow involved with anything slightly underground or just a kid with an attitude or what? Nobody ever s

What's the big deal - he often changes lines in performance. Sometimes self censorship; sometimes, sheer devilment; sometimes, one suspects, simply forgetting. Puts me in mind of the Stella Street episode where Keith tries to remind him how JJF goes to hilarious effect!

I suspect this is a total wind-up. Kevin Spacey runs the Old Vic theatre in London as well as being a serious actor. It doesn't sound like the sort of material he would commission, much less take on a some one who isn't an actor to play a lead. Having said that, he does have a soft spot for comedians! The next two Old Vic Seasons are already planned, so it would be considerably in t

They are both expensive but both have interesting articles. The Uncut has the "Mick is Vain" interview with Keith, but also a less forthcoming one with Mick. For eg: "Has the relationship between you and Keith got any easier?" Answer: "No". Mojo has an article about the events of 1968 and how they effected the Stones in particular. 13 pages with photos. And an

Never seen Jagger in a non performing capacity but there are lots of anecdotes floating around that suggest he 'moves amongst us' more freely than many celebrities. Many years practice at avoiding scrutiny when he chooses and an ability to turn the charisma on and off as necessary, plus an essential sanity beneath all the hype probably allow him to lead a relatively normal life when he

I agree with the bastardized Dr Johnson quote. For all his faults, Keith is Keith, the musical legacy is secure no matter what, and I would rather watch and listen to him grow old disgracefully than fade away. A bit more public warmth to Mick, who has covered his arse more than once over the years, might not go amiss though.

There is, of course, more than one sort of vanity. Both of them are fairly obsessed by their image and how they look (not unreasonably, given the amount of people who look at them!). While Jagger has always had the the reputation for physical vanity, I am always surprised that Keith is regarded as unconcerned about his appearance and yet wears more makeup, dyes his hair etc and has more obvious

The very complex legal structures that govern the Stones business arrangements and specifically shelter them from tax only involve the three surviving founder members and were set up in the early 70's. Ronnie has never been a party to them. My understanding of 'full membership' is his entitlement to a percentage share of the profits from tours from the early 90's, rather tha

QuoteLA FORUM Well I play Midnight Rambler much better than Keith. And that's a damn shame. Casue in 1972 and 1975 he was untouchable. I'd never challenged him in 1981. Lovin' your work! Let me know when your next tour is at Wembley or Madison Square Garden and I'll be there! (or alternatively, let's all get real)

QuoteThe StonesQuoteLady Jaynebut I'm still happy to listen to whatever they choose to throw at us! That sounds awfully desperate. Well, maybe or maybe a little more realistic than some. Frankly, since they wrote most of them, perform them better than I can (and I would venture to guess anyone else who posts on this board), who am I to sound off about what they should or shouldn't

QuoteskipstoneOh well sure, when one of them dies. That would mean that...the box set or whatever is already done and is just waiting for someone to keel over. Well, I for one can well imagine that rock's master tactitian and business man has this well under control - especially as, with good reason, he believes he will be the last to go.

Unpleasant to think about but isn't the truth that this material or some of it will be hastily packaged and released following the death of one of the principals when the Stones will be no more, there will be a temporary hike in interest beyond hardcore fans and the survivors will have a final pay day?

Quote6853where did Mick learn his french ? he is fluent,, He has supposedly lived there for over 25 years, although it's fair to say he seems to spend a puzzling amount of time in London if his weekly photos at various events in the media are anything to go by. So it's hardly surprising he's fluent by now, given his talent for picking up languages.

Quoteskl127Worryingly Mick Jagger has gone on record as saying he doesn't believe in a single God or religion . . . don't know about the rest of the Stones . . . And yet he has had all his children christened in Christian churches ( not sure about the little one, but certainly Jade and the Hall offspring ). Don't believe all the hype!

I have to say, I love the Stones and I love NYC but I don't really connect the two all that much. I know 3/4 had NY houses in the late 70's/early 80's but then they have places all over. Even SG's (their so called New York album) was largely recorded in Paris, right? At the end of the day, despite the tax dodges, they are a British band in content, style and humour and 3/4
