Apparently Ginger simply showed up to the first rehearsal uninvited and hijacked the drummer's chair- Clapton had assumed Jim Capaldi was going to be the drummer and was looking forward to a clean break from the whole Cream thing. 52 years ago today! Ouch. One of the definitive British rock albums of the early 70's and the debut of Clem Clempson. "Smokin" was the Pie's biggest seller and considered to be their peak by many.
