JMARKO: If criticizing Blondie is criticizing Keith, then so be it. If Keith and Ronnie play as they are capable of (and lately Ronnie has been from all reports), then the Stones are an amazing live band. When Keith is doing more posing than playing, missing riffs and just not with it, the Stones can be downright Pitiful. Needing Blondie to help that is kind of sad. Go back to the basic

I am sure Blondie's a nice guy, with some talent (though I always hated Sail On). I just think the Stones sound much better with a leaner sound: 2 guitars (hopefully both playing, not posing), bass, drums, vocals and piano/organ. Lean and mean, and probably much cleaner sound, live.

Almost in Canada. Less than a mile from the border in Buffalo. Work in Canada a lot, and love heading to TO for some shows. Now can your just get the Stones to play somewhere other than the Echo, er Rogers, Center next tour?

She Saw me Coming is sophomoric. Back of My Hand gave me chills when I heard the studio version, then that they started doing it live on the tour. Real blues. I hope it comes back into their setlist someday. If the corporate ticket buyers and bankers in the first few rows get bored during a slow blues number....they shouldn't be there.

Tatters: The question I have had with Dylan for over 30 years is: which Dylan will show up. The engaged and vibrant Dylan, or the depressed, reclusive Dylan. It seems to be a crap shoot.

Thanks! Great post. And as a former Bill Wyman Basher...I have to see he makes Let's Spend the Night Together on this recording. The bass carries it (especially unusual on an old mono recording)

I just dumped my 4 Springsteen Tix (16th row) for Buffalo to a friend. The last tour's concerts were a little too much rehearsed 'show' for me. He used to be so spontaneous (or at least seemed that way). Last major tour with the E-Street band seemed like ever move, every bit of dialogue was rehearsed. I'll be in Florida, listening to Neil and the Stones on a beach...

They did it well. I and a number of friends, hit only one show on the last tour (Toronto) after it became apparent that they were playing the mass market/nostalga act. People on here get excited over one 'gem' making it onto a setlist (CYHMK, She Was Hot). They seem content with being vanilla, while others take on the edge live that the Stones once had.

Hey STG: Glad you liked the show at Sheas. I was totally floored by it! If only the Stones would have the balls to do a tour of theatres....and the balls to put a setlst together that leaned heavily on newer material and some older 'gems' instead of warhorses. One of the best shows I have seen by any band. He had more passion at 62 than a bunch of 20 year olds.

This is kind of off-topic, but not in how it relates to the Stones and many older bands. Though I'm not a huge fan, I went to see Neil Young on Friday with some friends. He put on a truly amazing show, sounding better than in any any of the previous 3 or 4 times I have seen him in the last 20+ years. Beyond his (and his great band's performance) what impressed me were his lack of

Anything more than 45 minutes of Zep would bore the crap out of me. THE MOST OVERRATED BAND (IMHO). Every recording I have heard of Dazed and Confused live is torture. If they got on and ran thru Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid, Immigrant Song, Misty Mountain Hop and did a quick bow I could handle it. Longest I ever saw was the Dead in 1981 (the night before seeing the Stones in Buff

Every time I have seen them play it live it was a mess. The LYL version is awesome. Loads of raw power. It' along with Miss You, has become a good 'go for a beer' break at the shows.

I know CD sales are way down. Walmart and BestBuy are getting 'exclusives' to seel some releases...even though most of their employees have never heard of the artist. And internet stores are conenient, but hardly places to browse CD packages, or hear something new or different playing. I was really disheartened on Friday night, during a trip to Toronto, when I went to stop by Sam Th

I just got an opportunity to buy Springsteen tix presale for his show here in Buffalo in March. I doubt I'll go however. Of the last 4 times I have seen him, I felt that maybe once he was conneted with the audience. His show has become more 'staged' with some of the same choreographed moves and banter night to night. Much like the Stones, I think he lost something as he a

I always thought Miss Amanda Jones would be a great B-Stage song. Simple, fun....just because 98% of the people in the audience had not heard it before doesn't mean they couldn't enjoy it. Simple rock n roll.

STG: Here is a link to get tix thru the fan club presale (unlike the Stones, he doesn't make you pay $100 to be in the club, plus if you buy tix thru thesite, you get a free copy of the new CD....a great deal). Fan Club presale for Buffalo starts Weds Oct 10 at 10 am. I hope you read this before then.

SomeTorontoGirl: How many did you need. I got mine presale. There may be more available. Tix were $107 including 'service' charge. Happy to help you if I can. And hey, with the strong Loonie, this concert is a lot less expensive for you than it was last year. I would have LOVED to catch one of the Neil shows at Massey Hall (I caught Elvis Costello there a couple of years ag

SomeTorontoGirl: Presale Tix. Unlike the Stones, Neil has a free fan club with presales. My company has a box for concerts at Darien Lake, and that gives us a chance to buy presale at some other venues, in Buffalo and sometimes Rochester and the ACC (though usually shows I would never want to go to, like Genesis, VanHalen, etc) I saw Elvis, with Steve Nieve accompanying him, with Feist an

Hardcore collectors like rare things. A recording no one has, or few others have, would make it pretty rare. The more rare to them, the more valuable. I never quite got that. I get more satisfaction out of sharing something I have and get a kick out of others enjoying it. Whether it's music, a painting, a great wine or anything else. But to a lot of serious collectors, the joy is in

I can see the 'all British' concept being important to the band. And there is no doubt Ronnie is capable of great playing (especially when sober). The Ian Stewart interview is very insightful. I trust his recollection better than Keith's. Mick being an advocate for Ronnie is a surprise to me.

The band were amazing! I saw them (minus Robbie Robertson...so they were not truly The Band) in an old train terminal in Buffalo in the early-mid 80s. They were amazing musicians who played extraordinarily well together. And they may have been the BEST band from North America. It would make a thread about 1000 pages long on here. Definitely better than CCR, who could rock and had some great
