Spaceport Cornwall will be allowed to host the UK's first space launch after it was granted an operating licence by the aviation regulator. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the site in Newquay could be used for sending satellites into space. Its first mission is expected to be conducted by the Virgin Orbit company in the coming weeks. The mission has been given the title Star

QuoteCooltoplady Quotetommycharles I remember everyone talking at the time about how stationary Keith was during that show, and I remember watching the pay per view live and having the opposite reaction - we’d previously seen him play some _very_ ropey gigs in 2006/7, then some clips surfaced in 2010 or so of him barely able to strum a note, and so I watched the 2012 Newark show so happy that Kei

QuoteBig Al Yes, I'm often bemused by the Beatles' labelling as a 'boyband', when they quite clearly do no fit the recognised definition! There were of course no boybands in the 60s, but early in their careers the Beatles (and other British groups) occupied the same kind of showbiz niche that boybands did later, even though they were very different in the way they started.

QuoteCaptainCorella QuoteStonesSmeth99 Comments from Steve Jordan in The Guardian: That article really really contains a lot (not all) of rubbish. To fully appreciate how different The Beatles' sound was you had to have been listening to 1950's bland Payola music for many years. That DIFFERENCE in late 1962 was stunning and on first hearing in 1962 it really stood out. (See lat

A Google for Fischli and Weiss will bring up lots of images of their clay models. There are scores of them, most quite cartoonish, and most depicting the funny side of a historical situation. The Satisfaction model is one among many and not particularly meant to be perfectly accurate, either anatomically or historically. It's fun.

The poster for the original West End stage production of Oliver! shows that the picture is before 1966 - Rockman's date of 1964 seems as likely as any. But in any case, the "statue" isn't based on that picture (or on any photograph, probably), and as ProfessorWolf says, the fact that the sculptor thinks the writing of Satisfaction was done by Mick and Brian shows how much he

This is a personal site, and trying to throw money at the "problem" isn't going to buy you a flashy new format that won't work on half the world's devices and will be out of date as soon as it's introduced.

Quoteangieburden It would be easy for us to travel to them as well as they would be staying in one place. Then they could rotate, as mentioned, NYC, Chicago, Las Vegas, London, Germany, etc. Who are the "us" who would find travel to Las Vegas easy? If they do ever take up the residency idea, wherever it is, it should be combined with a properly organised professional paid-for

QuoteSpud ..and this is exactly why they don't need to write great new songs ... It's not what they play that defines them ...it's how they play it . Which is why the setlist-obsessives sometimes get it wrong. Wow, they played so-and-so! Yes, but they made a mess of it, or sounded totally by-the- numbers uninspired. Oh, they just played such and such a warhorse... Ye

QuoteGeirGG I do not believe in this «tour of a city» idea. That just seems a mess to be honest. Unnecessary complicated from every angle. What I meant is that if they stop, it might be hard to start up again (hm…pun). Some might find the idea of a sort of residency thrilling, but I don’t. More like a sort of geriatric solution. I love to travel and see The Stones. The idea of going to for exampl

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotekeefriffhards What might come into play and finish all our dreams of shows in 2003 is the issue of health, or to be more precise Ronnie's health, if he can no longer tour it's hard to imagine Mick and Keith going out as the Stones, not impossible but unlikely, but what do i know as someone pointed out last week 15 of the songs played in Berlin were before Ronnie
