I used to sing Ruby Tuesday as a lullaby to my kids (who unfortunately didn't become Stones fans). Now in their 20s they still can complete lines like "Who could - hang a name on you".

Quotemarianna The Stones should consider doing a Christmas album. Or some type of theme/genre album besides the blues. Stones country? The Stones Country one to me is somehow the alternative Some Girls release.

My brother was eight years older than me, he died in April. He turned the five year old me on the Stones in 1966. The White Album has always been his favourite "others" record.

Regarding how to make a No. 1 I read a university (yeah, I don't even remember from which continent...) had analyzed the No.1s of something like the last 20 years. The result is that long players tend to contain more and more slow songs than before whereas the most successful singles were happy up-tempo ones.

This summer the Stones played the Olympic Stadium in Berlin and Chris opened for German star Nena in the Zitadelle in Berlin-Spandau - same time, probably 10 km distance. Nena is a big Stones fan, Chris the brother. I think pictures of the two have been posted here but nothing mentioned about Nena/Chris and Mick?!

Considering the publishing rights Abkco vs Rolling Stones Records Sticky Fingers would have been the double and Exile on Main Street the single record: I burned the tracks on cd - it gives you a totally fresh listening (btw, try the same for the song order given on the record sleeves of Let It Bleed and Through The Past...!) One way to avoid the traffic I'm sorry for partly being responsible to have moved this thread from Lake Como to Kelly Country. So, let's move back ... to Nellcote. I remember a photo of Mick riding a Honda during that period of time. This time on a BMW? Is he still riding (or, I guess, better

Hi Rocky, hi Rockman - some further thoughts to Ned Kelly: Didn't Mick hate any kind of "contact sports" (especially the very British Rugby)?! That might explain his unability to act in a boxing scene... The Gaunson book says that both films (Jagger's and Ledger's) were very succesful in Australia but actually aimed at an international market. There both failed. Mayb

Yes, Rocky, Mick couldn't finish Fitzcaraldo. Mick's character was skipped in the published version but emerged in Klaus Kinski's role - here in Germany regarded as a real mad and wild man! I haven't seen Mick's Ned for ages and only in German, therefore can't say anything about his "Irish". The whole attitude towards that film was negative from the begi

QuoteRocky Dijon It's all subjective, but I think he's terrific in PERFORMANCE and THE MAN FROM ELYSIAN FIELDS. He was miscast as NED KELLY and is awful in FREEJACK. He was fine in BENT. I was sorry he didn't include "Streets of Berlin" on his solo anthology. RUNNING OUT OF LUCK is very hit and miss. Not much of a movie. Some good bits, but other times he and Jerry seem v

Thank you, Deltics for that info I didn't know. When watching France vs Belgium, i.e. Blue against Red, I remembered my youngest days. I don't which WC it was (in the 70s for sure) when the sports programme was presenting the shirts and trousers of all teams, switching from colour to b/w and back, thus making out that there will be difficulty for b/w tv watchers when this or that c

If you are supestitious then visit the French or the Cratioan embassy hoping for a black cat to cross the road and look for a ladder to walk under at the same time. I always wondered about it: I never read a single word in whatever biography about the Stones commenting on the World Cup victory in 1966! Ok, they've been on a long US tour but defeated Portugal on Mick's birhtday thus reaching the final and being back for the final two days after the recorded Honolulu concert. I wonder of they had a colour tv?!

Quotemtaylor England fans have accused Mick Jagger of cursing the national team by attending their semi-final match against Croatia on Wednesday, as the star is believed to bring bad luck to those he supports in World Cup tournaments. The match saw England bow out of this year's World Cup, after a 2-1 loss to Croatia in extra time. The Rolling Stone has an unfortunate history of w

Reading these pages for the first time I have the impression that it is worth considering their 'living' together. There were Jagger/Richards living together in the 60s, always together as they were constantly touring. Then they both moved to Cheyne Walk. But who left when and what was the effect of that for the Rolling Stones? At least, then Keith and Ronnie practically "

Quotebv I used to run the IORR SHOP which was the most non-commercial thing I have done ever. During the 80's and 90's, and even with the more recent IORR T-shirt, I had this idea that the IORR Fan Club should supply books, records, T-shirts, postcards, color vinyl and all sorts of Stones stuff at "self cost". So every time there was a new book out I bought it from the printer
