Well, I agree that the key could be the key. However, Chuck plays a lot of barre chords, so there's not that much difference from key to key. He can play the I, IV, V in pretty much any key and there's not a big difference. Also, while a horn player is often more comfortable in B flat, I've never found B flat or E flat particularly "natural" as a keyboard player...

Well, I favor a lean sound, and I wouldn't mind if they had less support on some songs. However, as you said, they had horns and piano live in '72, and even before that they had already established their ability to use backing musicians (and of course Brian Jones) effectively in the studio. In a way, the debate about the merits of the current lineup (with a lot of backing musici

Keith is a musician. He uses his guitar as a tool to create sounds that channel images and emotion -- images and emotion that frankly seem to be divinely inspired. He is on a completely different level from the mortal guitarists...

A couple of disclaimers: I do not put The Who in the same league with the Stones, nor do I have Daltrey in my top few favorite rock singers. However, the scream in "Won't Get Fooled Again" is the best, I think.

I thought Keith was pretty good in Austin -- certainly much better than I feared after hearing about Chicago and NY.

I think I first heard Satisfaction when I was 9, and I liked it and the singles that followed. What REALLY got me and made me the weirdo I am today was the first time I heard Honky Tonk Women, when I was 13. I had been into Clapton and Hendrix and was a big fan of hot solo guitar, but the intro to HTW ... was like bolts of electricity thrown around by God...

Tumblin Dice I'll check to see if I have the second half of the 11th. The only "soundboard" I've heard of is (I think) a rip from LA Blues. I don't know of any '75 soundboards other than Detroit and Buffalo. There definitely are boots of LA shows other than the 11th and 13th. The 9th is a really good show and a pretty good recording, although Ronnie is not lou

Yes, it is the 9/23 Paris show. There is also a 9/22 show that (in my opinion) does not sound quite as good...
