Thanks for posting. This is really quite excellent. Well-recorded with great musicianship and respect for the original LIB. I'm glad I decided to check it out. You can stream the entire thing without purchase. HBK

Hello Professor - I would be pleased to let you use my photos. I do have several more amateurish photos from this show and the 1975 MSG shows. In return, I would love to know more about or see the finished DVD you are planning. Some of my artifacts from Paradiso 1995 were used in the "Stripped" deluxe package in which I was quite honored to see my actual name in the credits. My bes

July 25, 1972 was my very first Stones show. I posted some artifacts from that show on a related thread to recognize the 50 year anniversary.

The creator used one of my 1981 photos from MSG at 4:19. I guess I'm flattered. I posted all the good ones in the "1981 wardrobe" thread around 2018. HBK

I have 2 copies of the Memphis newspaper from that day with the headline announcing his death. I bought them directly from the paper via mail-order at the time. HBK

QuoteTaylor1 I can see why Wood was asked to join following his guest appearanceon the 1975 shows as a permanent member in 1976. His playing is great on the Tour of the Americas. Had he not been, then maybe they would have revisited Perkins as the guy. Iwish I had been old enough to see the 1972 and 1975 tours. I saw the Stones in 1972 and 1975

Interesting perspective on Wayne Perkins here. He had a brief but important moment in band recording history. HBK

I think that NYT review nails it with regard to Jagger's footwork and prance/dance moves. "cakewalking" . . . "choreographed coherence". Check out the video link above at around 11:25 min. Looking back, and trying to recall how I felt after my first Stones show, I was the most surprised by how much Mick T had taken over the lead guitar role and how good a dancer

July 25, 1972 was my very first Stones show (total so far is 103). I was 18 at the time. Here are some artifacts from my scrap book to recognize the 50 year anniversary. It would be hard to imagine at that time that I would care 50 years later or that The Rolling Stones would still be playing as a band, albeit with just 2 of the members on stage that night.

Saw them in Philadelphia at World Cafe Live on March 17th. Fun show but nothing special. Lots of Petty love in the audience.

This new band has two members of the original Rolling Stones plus a guitarist who has played with them for 47 years and a bassist with them for 28 years. Yeah, they got a new drummer last year recommended by the original drummer. I saw them live a couple times in 2021 and they were really quite good. Definitely, worth taking a chance on if they come to your town. HBK

Someday I'm going to find a young fan like Paul to take over my Stones discs and memorabilia collection which goes back to the 60's. My first single at age 11 was All Over Now. I was 18 when I first saw the Stones at MSG in 1972 after constantly listening to Ya-Yas for 2 years. It's so cool to hear from a young new fan. HBK

Any chance this is a mix of both shows? I know it's been reported that there were problems with the recording of the first show, but maybe there were a few salvageable tracks?

Seen them live many times since the 80's, most recently in 2017. One of my all time favorite live bands, probably top 5. Happy to see them coming back to the States, likely for the last time. Another great Aussie band Hoodoo Gurus on the road soon too I hope. HBK

QuoteProfessorWolf so the quote from his son is lifted right from this thread someone really should write a book about him or at least a much longer and better researched article he deserves that much Yeah, so I looked up Rocky on Wikipedia and it actually referenced this thread as one of the sources, using the quote from his son. . . . . and that's how I found it in the vaults Rockman

Just adding my Kinks love going back to the beginning. Plus, I'm one of the outliers that loved and still play Schoolboys to this day. The riffage on that is classic Dave and to me does not sound as dated as a couple of their other LPS from those years. HBK

Every time this subject comes up, I nominate Steve Earle and the Supersuckers for BTMMR. It just rocks. Play it loud. A true rock'n'roll outlaw backed by one of the most underrated indy rock bands ever. Both are known for amazing Stones covers in their live shows.

I've seen 'em all going back to 1972 and IMO the NF stage is best for the overall fan experience, especially for big stadium seating. The video technology blows every other prop away and helps maintain the focus on the band and the music. I loved the other set ups as they happened (VL my fave) but looking back, NF wins for overall in-your-face impact. HBK

So I've read all the back and forth and can see both points of view on Charlie vs Steve. For me it comes down to; Should I boycott a band with Mick, Keith and Ronnie that plays Rolling Stones songs? Because they cannot replicate the Charlie swing with the replacement drummer and yet dare to call themselves the Rolling Stones? The answer is no. I would like at least one more chance t

It's entirely possible that they are preparing something for the pre-show video before the band hits the stage. I like the idea of kicking off the show with a video of Charlie playing an opening drum riff, like GOMC, with the band joining in synch with a flash of lights and loud guitars. HBK
