The studio version can't be touched. On the more recent versions of it though, they've gotten closer to it. One of the few things in the "modern" era that sound better than how they used to play it, IMO.

As cool as the studio version is, gotta go with Rambler Live. Brussels is the top version. One thing I like about the Ya's Ya's version is the way the song gains momentum before the last verse. They stopped playing in that exact way after the 69 tour.

QuoteHairball I've alway preferred the Stones early version, whereas the Mick solo version has always reminded me of Kenny Loggins' Footloose. It reminds me more of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band's "Shakedown".

I like Tame Impala. It's good chill-out music, or as something to have in in the background when I'm working.

I think it's a decent song. At this point, I'm more interested in watching the show if I'm being completely honest. He's doing a good job of helping to sell it!

QuoteTheGreek Quotetreaclefingers QuoteStoneage Sure, whatever. I just feel Live Aid, and not performing for seven years in the eighties, was a missed opportunity for them. I "discovered" them in 1981 so their leave for most part of the eighties was a bit aggravating to me. I started the journey a year earlier. I think the best way to look at it is because it was such and important

Mick's Perf. for live aid, for me, has aged well. I used to just dismiss it right away. He wasn't the best act there, but he was solid. The Keith and Ron set with Bob Dylan however... I'm still processing that one.

QuoteCristiano Radtke Quoteryanpow The more I listen to the two tracks we've gotten, the more I like it. Rip this Joint has a kind of country rock feel and sounds almost ZZ-top-ish. Quotekeefgotsoul This interview was posted today. Starts with Keith talking about Charlie passing away, then he’s talking about Nellcote. I’ve only just started listening. Looks like it’s over an hour long Yep, this is the one I was talking about. The interview is only like 15 minutes long, then they play the interview he did with Marc in 2015. It was fun to listen to that one again.

This release certainly surpasses any expectations I had. I thought for sure that a full recording of either of the two shows didn't exist, otherwise they would have at least circulated at some point. Pretty amazing that we're getting this, If I do say so.

I just listened to the recent (brief) Keith interview on WTF and he said he's been in Jamaica with Mick and Steve making music. In his words it was been "prolific" and they have "more songs than I know what to do with". Take that with a grain of salt I guess, but sounds like there is something in the works or he wouldn't have said that.

QuoteMathijs It sounds the same as the Brussels release, the same fuzzy guitars and overloaded drums. The echo seem to fade away after a minute or 2, at least to my ears. Fantastic release, but I do hope this sound is caused by the video rip, and that the actual release sounds better. Mathijs I agree, the mix sounds like Brussels.

I think the art work looks cool. However, leaving Bill off is very un-cool. It's just bizarre how they keep doing this. The fact that there's 'only' 4 discs doesn't matter. There's no reason that 1 band member per disc had to be the concept.

It's been a while since I've listened to L.A. Friday, and also I'm no expert, but my initial take is that the playing is different than in 75. Interestingly , I always thought IORR from LYL sounded like it was recorded in a small club. This is the inverse of that.
