QuoteRobertJohnson Quotejp.M ..... if this song had been on "Aftermath" in place of "take it or leave it"...?..! It is a very beautiful song. It was a little bit hidden over the years and was first released on the American "Flowers"-Album in 1967. In Europe first on a compilation, "Through the Past, darkly" in 1969. In most of Europe the "Flowers&q

Quoteloog droog Quoteukcal It celebrates their 1st album, is that the one with Jerry Hall on the cover? That was Siren, the fifth album. The woman on the cover is Kari-Ann Muller, wife of Chris Jagger. Roxy Music were fond of Jagger wives!

Quotebv The City Council of Oslo Norway have approved the 55,000 capacity field Voldsløkka Idrettspark (sports field) for two more concert days in 2022, in addition to the originally approved week-end of 3 days. Voldsløkka as a large concert venue will replace Valle Hovin, which is no longer available for concerts, due to unstable concrete grounds. I sommer blir det «mega-festival» på Voldslø

Don't know if this has been mentioned before (can't read all those 53 pages!), but: I just got the double vinyl. Why did they not use the opportunity to add the long (6:34) version of Slave that was on the 1994 remaster ?

I would remove Going To A Go-Go and add Highwire to the list. And I actually think these singles are all quite strong, except Don't Stop.

QuoteTheflyingDutchman Quotewalkingthedog QuoteTheflyingDutchman Very sad news indeed. Although George Kooymans could be replaced I believe the Golden Earring "calling it quits" is the right decision. Their power has gone long ago. Replacing George Kooymans in GE would be like replacing Keith Richards in The Stones. I apologise, it was not my intention to hurt anyone's feeling

QuoteNilsHolgersson Isnt this better than Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da? Yes, but still probably the worst GE single. The b-side is pretty cool, though :

Very sad to hear. Their last single, Say When, came out in 2019. Here is maybe my favourite Golden Earring song, with vocasls by Kooymans:

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteDandelionPowderman Yesterday I got the test pressings of my band's album (it took forever making this, but that's a long story). One of the pre-requisites was that the album shouldn't be longer than 40 minutes (to obtain the best sound quality). My album was 44 minutes, but after listening to it several times, there is no lack in qua

The Monkees were essentially Brill Building's answer to The Beatles. They had many great songs, of course, mainly written by Brill Building songwriters. The band members themselves wrote some good songs, but not so many. Perhaps this is the reason they are not in the R'n'R Hall Of Fame.

QuoteMarthijn Dutch band, The Golden Earring, 1961 till today True, but the first Golden Earrings record came in 1965. Do the years 13 and 15 year old George and Rinus were rehearsing in George's bedroom really count ? Love Golden Earring, though.

It's holding up really well. Do we have a latter-day classic on our hands? I feel that every time the Stones step outside their comfort zone, it's always sucessful.

Personally I think GHS a notch down from the big four, but better than more or less anything else in the Stones catalogue. SG is also great, of course, but I prefer GHS.
