Quotedaspyknows QuoteRockman AWWWW come on support the Clap .... been there, done that. prefer to support artists wo actually need support and don't support things I don't support. also have no need for physical media whether its cd, vinyl, blue ray, cassette, 8 track etc. And that's why you support stealing? Strange double standarts to say the least!

QuoteDoxa Yeah, R Dog, I get what you mean by doing best under those circumstances, since them not being ideal. But still, I think, as they did release the album they, pragmatically speaking, were pleased with it enough, and were ready stand behind it. I mean, these were the guys who once thought that ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS or SOME GIRLS LIVE IN TEXAS were too subpar to be released. Surely the circ

QuoteDoxa Damn great remarks here about the latest album of originals here! I dig the variety of opinions. That's what discussion is all about, right? I said above that probably the album had been better if Mick had his will through - that they should have done something to the material in a proper studio, like Keith told us. Well, who knows. That's speculation if it would been sharp

Quotetreaclefingers Quoteliddas QuoteDoxa It is pretty hard to understand what Keith is actually trying to say there, other that he is bashing Mick there (a constant theme of the book). To me it doesn't sound it is anything about sonical matters at all: only that Mick - and only him - is so vain that he just wants to work in a fancy 'real' studio an sich, despite it not, as Keith

QuoteRockman HHHhaaaaaaa... yep retired ... All ya can do is laugh ... Yep... or taking this as psychological studies of certain people's state of mind - I mean, first blaming the Stones for not releasing new music since oh so when, then dismissing Blue And Lonesome because it was "just covers", then chewing on the "hitting the wall"-story ad nauseam, then accusing them

QuoteHairball Quotelem motlow It will be ok and fun to hear what they come up with but don’t get your hopes up. Keith once said Mick Taylor was a great guitar player who found out the hard way that’s all he is. Mick and Keith are great songwriters who are gonna find out the hard way that’s all they are because the guys who made those old records ain’t here anymore. No Bill, Charlie,Brian, Nick

Quoterogerriffin i dont know why they weren´t sued by this rap they took for the ASMB song Well, there are no farting noises on ASMB so what exactly should he sue? More seriously, I think that even if this guy had tried, he would have had a hard time to convince even risk-friendly lawyers of at least a slight chance to win...

The 1978 Some Girls tour was the Stones reborn - once again, like in 1969, they were successfully adjusting to the times and almost chameleon-like, almost nothing resembles the sound and attitude of their 1975-1976 tours. There were early signs already at El Mocambo '77, no longs songs like YCAGWYW or Midnight Rambler for example, but it took the Some Girls recording sessions and the resc

QuoteDoxa Hehe, Rockie, that's the habit Zimmy learned from the folk circles. Nobody owns the music, its everybody's. You can re-cicle it as much as you want, since it only serves as a template for lyrical content. And it's only the latter that matters to copyright.. Kids, don't try that at home! - Doxa Doxa, I'm afraid that in reality it's a bit more complex

QuoteSomeTorontoGirl The defence rests. And likely prepare themselves for a massive counter-attack... Honestly, there's no chance in hell for this copyright claim. It's like James Brown suing the Stones for "stealing" his "sound" in Sex Drive. They likely did, but a certain sound is not subject of any copyright. Otherwise, artists could sue other artists for try

QuoteDoxa Great photos! Keith seemingly found his cozy place in the studio: 'here I sit and play the bass. Just go to a hotel room to change the clothes occasionally'. - Doxa And to take a shower every once in a while would be nice too!

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotedoitywoik For better or worse, we shouldn't forget that there are three guitar players in the Stones. So whatever the new album will turn out to be like, we can be sure that Mick has his share of duties in the axe department. It wouldn't surprise me if Steve played some guitar, too, like he does on Winos-albums. Isn't it enough already to get Macca

QuoteGerardHennessy QuoteHairball QuoteGerardHennessy Quotedoitywoik I don't quite see how Macca should outhustle or outbullshit the Stones w.r.t. the new album. From what little we know at this point, he is playing bass on a track (maybe also providing background vocals or the odd hand clap). We don't know what kind of song it is, who wrote it, or anything else about it, etc. From a mu

QuoteDoxa Quoteretired_dog QuoteDoxa Interesting thoughts here in regard to Brian vs. George and their role in their bands. And I don't see any real disagreements between what Ps37 and 24FPS say. Both right. Yeah, the dynamics within the bands vary. Some similarities, but also some important differences. I think initially Keith's role was more closely to George's. It was Brian

I did not really take notice of him until 1982 when "Your Old Lady" from the El Rayo-X album became a regular part of the Stones European tour pre-concert tape, so I dived deeper and became a fan! Actually met him once in person, and guess where, out of all places, backstage at the Voodoo Lounge opening night in Washington DC (Nils Lofgren was also there btw). Talk about kinda Stones

Honestly, would hope for minimal outside influences unless they're to add parts, as in the rumored bass overdubs that Macca added. A sax here, some piano there.
