Usually in connection with Stones concerts, I hope for variation , not too many warhorses and so many newer songs as possible. Until tonight I have only listened to songs from the first concert through the PC at my work. But tonight, tonight!!! Now I can say; Some of the warhorses sound completely revitalized. It is as if this was a concert on the first tour they were played, so fresh do

Quotebuttons67 in the 70,s the stones used to play around 16-17 songs per gig on a particular tour and with the exeption of 1 or 2 at most, the setlist was the same every night. dont agree with doing this when at the time they had a back catalogue of around 200 songs, so why stick to the same few. Not meant as any critique directed to the band: However, the more constant setlist for conc

I wonder, I wonder: Might the Rolling Stones become a three guitar band for a possible ensuing album and then for concerts during 2013! What about two guitars doing some kind of underlying weaving and a solo guitar on top of that? Wish thinking, of course, from one, that is not attending any of the four concerts of 2012.

I am pleased by the fact that both the new songs were played. Usually I like to hear even more songs from later years. However, on the present occasion to me the two new songs take as starting point for a new possible development of the band stylistically the period of their transition from their late 60s singles to the '68 - '72 albums. Then, paradoxially, it is in harmony with

Quotehbwriter QuoteThroughTheLonelyNights Quotehbwriter MT and BW notwithstanding - I think the setlist peaked at Paint it Black - the show sounds solid - but got very predictable very fast- come on - let's be objective - at this point, 15 tunes are regulars - and will probably end up about 17 - show sounds great- but i don't get the celebration of the setlist I think you are right.

Doxa, you are the main reference to a post that I somewhat delayed wrote on “One More Shot”. However, too little of the resulting possible post was related to the song itself. I abstained from posting it. Now I found reason to post it here with the hope to inspire you to make an answer if you want to. (The two last and added paragraphs are directly addressed to Doxa.) My first listenings to

Listen to the musical representation of coming down again on "Coming Down Again". Its sheer greatness at that representation. The feeling and mood of the song. In one approach to GOATS HEAD SOUP,take this song as the key track of the album, and listen to the album in the light of such an interpretation.

Many of you have given me pain by making me read your negative choices. I can't believe many of them. A couple I can understand, but all the same I do disagree. Now it's my turn to provoke one or two of you with mine: "Melody" (because of some of the singing on it) "Tops" There is no other worst song than these, I think. In my own secluded world I am the

I would rather enjoy what they have produced, as even an hour of social contact might change what I think of them personally, and I would rather not think of them in the personal sense.... Truth. Sort of truth. N

QuoteOneHit The YouTube video has been taken down. Where can we listen to it? I have arrived at page 5 of this thread (after having had a busy day at work). At last, I find a post relevant for my situation. To me "Doom and Gloom" is a vital Rolling Stones single, of "One More Shot" I know nothing yet. Soon I will not read further this evening, with a busy tomorrow fol

Vow, I was present at both shows in the Scandinavum Icehockey arena (if my memory does not let me down). The late show from around the 10th row. The second and third of my Stones concerts. My problem during the concerts was that they played somewhat too loud for my ears. (I was not that mobile during the '60s and had my first Stones concert not earlier than on the 6th of September 1970).

QuoteWeLoveToPlayTheBlues If Streets Of Love had been released earlier... I can't myself see some earlier time that this song hypothetically could have been released, but possibly. Apart from that, have you started to compare "Streets of Love" and "Doom and Gloom"?

Quoteflilflam If Doom and Gloom had been released in an earlier year, then on what CD would it have fit in perfectly. In other words, what CD or album would it fit in really well with the other songs? I think it could have been on Exile on Main Street, somewhere between All Down the Line and Soul Survivor. Comments? I don't see «Doom and Gloom» as a typical album track, but rather a

As a fanboy I don't say that all Rolling Stones music is equally good, but it is always, almost always interesting. Even TATTOO YOU! And I don't agree to any "Las Vegas era"-theory of the latter years, because I hold a version of a multi peak perspective on the band's career. Even if some output would have been better if they have been better to cooperate during periods o

His Majesty, in all due respect to the important subjective dimension, I do think though that it is of value to the listening to songs to have some mental picture of how one song performed in time. To have a sense of its place in a development and of what was contemporary to a set of songs.
