Hyde Park wasn't the best sound-wise. However I found that the true stereo version of the TV special, now available for purchase as a vault release, offers a much cleaner and listenable experience. JJF, for example, sounds much better and less out of tune. Too bad there is no stereo version of the complete show....

What about the stereo version of "Good Times" which was on the ill-fated "Necrophilia" album along with the mix of "Think" found in this excellent post?

QuoteTaylor1 Why were there no live recordings from the 1970 European tour dumped this year. And is it possible they will dump live shows from 1971-1973 in the next few years This sounds like a good question to pose to Ronnie Schneider. Didn't he manage the European tour? GYYYO was their last contractual LP obligation to Decca, so tapes from the 1970 tour would never have ended up in the ha

Is this topic about historical racism or about the monetary value of playing bass for the Rolling Stones? In their hunt for a Mick Taylor replacement, didn't they remind each other that "this is an English band!"? That kind of sums it up for me.

December 1969. Chicago. A record store in a hippy section of "Old Town' called Piper's Alley. I'd heard an ad for the "LIVEr Than You'll Ever Be" (Oakland 69 second show) bootleg on an underground radio station and the ad was run by this hippy record shop. This was just after I'd heard about Altamont. The disc was $5.50 and I thought that was a lot for a

Quoteironbelly Quotethkbeercan Does anyone know the physical dimensions of this deluxe version? The photos make it look like the same size as the Stripped deluxe multidisc set. This limited edition collector’s edition comes housed in a 10”x 10” hard slipcase, with a 40-page hardback book and gatefold disc-holder. Regular 2CD/DVD edition will be in a 4-panel digipak, similar to the other Vault

I got it from the guys in the locker room at my gym. They used to tease me in the showers. I just got used to it and eventually laughed it off. But the name stuck.

Much has been made, both in the press and in this forum, about the December 31 YouTube posting by ABKCO of dozens of Stones recordings, all listed as being from 1969. The purpose of this was to secure copyright in the EU and prevent these from falling into the public domain. As most readers of this website will already know, this ABKCO posting was a bit of a hodge-podge/mish-mash of mostly bo

Mentioning Brian onstage and dedicating a song to him are not necessarily the same thing. To the best of my knowledge he was mentioned onstage only twice after his death: 1) Hyde Park, 1969 then 20 years later.. 2) The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony 1989

The alternate version of "Good Times" which was to have been included on the abandoned "Necrophilia" LP is not only in STEREO but also features more pronounced background vocals which are most decidedly female.
