There are various ways of talking about politics. I don't like when musicians try to tell me what to vote, or think that what they vote is worthy enough to be a song topic. But I like it when music tries to catch the signs of the times. In a way, it's more social than politics. A political opinion is always "yes" or "no" and songs which tell an opinion are likely

If you can do without the rn'r, you should turn to rap, it's all about sex, drugs and fast cars.

One of the greatest, in my top 10. I particularly cherish it because it's the ONLY stones song in which I feel Jagger is being overwhelmed by emotion rather than calculating his effects.

That's a smart remark, Tatters. Hummm on my way to some far-fetched interpretation of Rain.

So true! Add jagger's phrasing to Woody's playing and it makes a hell of a song.

Hi Skippy! Still shooting water rats or whatever that was, sipping your home made wine? I agree totally with you and I really miss Bill. I had thought so many times, especially listening to tracks like Dangerous beauty. With Bill: a hell of a Whip comes down groove. Without Bill: a filler. I do love ABB but Bill would have raised it a step higher, no doubt. Also agree about distorsion and tamb

can't believe nobody sees it my way! So here is the effect Sweet NeoCon had on me: it made me as fanatically dogmatic as the character who speaks in the first verses.... But I'm right! I AM! I MUST be!! You hypocrites.... All stones fans who don't agree should be sent to an IORR'ers Haliburton (perhaps ALtamont?) without trial. :-) However, I just love the song more by

Yes I do remember, that was fun! But that one WAS a far-fetched interpretation, while this one isn't :-)

Love it and I'm quite sure I'm not lying to myself (why would I not have done it about BTB and Steel Wheels for instance, or Voodoo? As a matter of fact, the latter DID grow hugely on me!). People who love ABB do not necessarily praise each and every Stones' release. It does not have to be a manic behaviour.

Just read you post, Rudger. As said above, I'm NOT nuts, but however I agree fully with your point, and I elaborate: How come you're so wrong? Look at the state you're in, man, and listen to yourself - and the acid, frantic music and the tone of voice suggests he really IS in bad shape. Think of sweet neocon in relation to Crazy Mama!

I'm so happy some of you guys are interested! I'm sorry however, I will insist, because I really want it clear: I am NOT suggesting that Jagger thought far in ANYWAY at all! He just wrote a caricature of neocon obessions, a caricature also including the belief that THEY are the only true christians and patriots and all the REST are hypocrites and crocks of shit. It's N

Hey again, I don't think I think too much at all! (well of course if you just don't car for lyrics that's fine by me, dear Four Stones Walls!) More convinced by the minute, and ALL it takes to see it is forget about the media hype that said "woaw Jagger insults Bush!" I'll just state it differently, to show how SIMPLE it is: A man says: "If you were a

A few more words on Sweet neocon, if anybody can stand it :-) It's not about politics, only about grammar, and my question is: who calls whom a hypocrite? The general answer is: Jagger calls the neocon whom he later addresses in the refrain a hypocrite. It is not mine, and here is why. If we say Jagger is speaking in the first verse, it means there is a change of point of view from ve

Fabulous books which are also very easy reads, so suited for a holiday mood are anything by Joyce Carol Oates and Muriel Sparks. From the former, I especially loved "Middle Age" and "We were the Mulvaneys" (there is also a much more extreme book titled "First love - A gothic tale". Impressive.) From the latter, have a laugh with "The Girls of slender means"

Hi Marquess! I also like Sweet neo-con, apart from the lyrics.

Hi! After something like 8 monthes without posting, I will, due to a happy coincidence: the day before ABB was released, I eventually got internet at home! So cheers to all the IORR'ers. And now let me put it straightforwardly: i think ABB is GREAT. And, BTW, I do not say this every time something comes out. BTB I hated from the start; Stripped was so very disappointing and never grew on me
