I don't think the lyrics of Rain Fall Down are great, nor is the chorus very original, but Mick's delivery is fantastic AND it's one of the best GUITAR tunes on ABB in my opinion. The way Keith and Ronnie intertwine is just great. Have you listened to the tune with headphones? The licks are varied, sobre but extremely effective, great great guitar chemistry worthy of anything from

Yes I think it is, "I can't seem to stay in step because she comes everytime that she pirouettes on me" is quite revealing, as well as the chorus itself. It's also about disfunction of a man in total, he's just so nub and can't feel the pain; disconnected from the physical, no wonder he has trouble in bed! There was a chat about this on this site, a few years back, w

I am really fond of Goddess. As a matter of fact, God gave me everything is one of the tracks I didn't like at first - but now the intense vocals has grown on me so much that I eventually can do with the 'riff' (which was what I hated at first). I think two are three marvels on the album: Hide away Brand new set of rules And a lot of near-marvels, attempts which have not to

Rev. Robert, I do agree with your post regarding the re-invention of the set-list from 68 to 72, only playing songs from the 4 last albums. Then again, your wish list does not draw at all from the four last albums! You're asking for your own greatest hits! However, following your great comment, I am a fan of late stones and would be delighted to hear a concert featuring ten tracks from A

Reptile, as Ohnonotyouagain rightly pointed out, although it is not a matter of opinion, it does not mean that you're right about it. Whether the earth is round is not a matter of opinion and yet some people were wrong! As a matter of fact, some said that Keith's solo on ONNYA (the song!) was out of key and to my ears it is not, or from a very narrow definition of 'key'! I

In some ways the guitars are week on ABB, and the band interplay is inconsistent compared to, say, the piano/guitar combinations of Live with me. But Jagger (it is really a Jagger album) made the best of his team mates and opened spaces in which they could display in simple and sober ways their trademark styles. On Voodoo Lounge and ABB, the Stones crafted their own art in ways unseen be

Too tight is very good, on a very poor album - but that drum sound just wastes it completely - too bad! Much too much trebles. But Jagger and guitars do shine.

Debra, I don't know how to put direct links to threads but the one I had started on Sweet neo con was titled: who calls whom a hypocrite in SNC? (a grammatical, NOT a political question). Easy to get to through 'search' using grammatical as the key word! Look, I'd really care for your opinion on this, I'm actually becoming ridiculous about it but I just don'

Yep I know the ruts and used to love a punk_white reggae anthem called Jah War. Had no idea they had anything to do with the dirty strangers. Used to love the singer but I'm not surprised he aged atrociously - also I aged and grew a little more critical to shouting punks!

Cheers for the tip, I'll check out the greatest hits. Oh and I really enjoy lovesexy. Great stuff. I enjoy lots of lastest stuff, 'Gold', 'Love Symbol', even 'Black nigga', although I still prefer the 1999-Lovesexy period. I guess the more I grow into a true fan, the better I'll dig the rest, like I do for Voodoo Lounge or ABB! The other thing I want t

Hi Nikolai, perhaps you remember guiding me through the works of Prince last fall. Thought I'd let you know that it worked perfectly, he's been my main discovery of the year. Favourites up to now (apart from Purple and Signs of course) are 'Parade' and 'Around the world in a Day'. Man, 'Temptation' is the ultimate thing! Prince is just as smart and funny a

Edward, you're checking out his passeport and concluding that, as the rest of his body,, Mick's voice has aged. I listened as closely as I could for years and I cannot tell that his voice has aged and I don't believe it has at all. Debra is definitely right about Wild Horses: if you can sing Out Of Tears with such a light, pure voice, you can sing Wild Horses as on Sticky Finge

Bill, I also like Hide Away very much, a must! As for Wyclef Jean, well the classic has to be 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' and it is a killer. It's far from being 100% rap, and Lauryn is one of the best singers of the last decade for sure. Also, a great singer who raps is actually very enjoyable, kind of like 'Cops and robbers' by Bo Diddley, this kind of stuff. Do y

Sure jagger doesn't have the largest voice or purest timbre ever - but he has unbelievable vocal diversity and skills. I'd suggest you grab Wandering Spirit, Jagger's vocal compendium and play in a row all the tunes, insisting on how many styles he masterizes, particularizing his breathing, his spelling, his phrasing, every little details.

I also think it's the weakest track on the album. Although on a second-degree macho parody... but no, it does not even work that way.

bloody hope so too! After all, Jagger has been working very regularly these past years, there's no 8-years gap as far as he's concerned. So now that he can only be satisfied with working with the Stones, there's no reason for a huge break. Maybe a three-year gaps, as between Voodoo and Bridges?

You got me rocking grew on me a lot, I think it's a great live song. A show needs moments like this. The way they play it live, with first the guitar riff and then the drums kicking in, works like hell. This riff is a killer, can't think of so many better ones. Actually you could very well make the song a show opener IMO.

Spent the holidays with lots of friends in Italy and also lots of musicians whom I met and we had huge sessions everynight. Being at once the only singer and the worst guitarist, all the pros had to adapt to me - since I can only play what I know beforehand but they can play on anything. Pays off to be bad! So there was these percussionists and a pro harmonica player (chromatic) and we had suc

Steven, When I thought that the opening lines of the song were aimed at JW Bush, I also thought they were so cheap and silly, they could not have come from any artistic idea but only from some brainstorming with his addmen: "what shall we do to get some ink spilt?" and the answer was: "let's insult bush". But - and I know few people agree but well... - it is plain to
