Some comments here are just so ugly and horrid. Pointing fingers at fat people, at smokers... When did Stones fans become such horrid health-and-safety fascists? Man, you do what you like with your vegetables and fresh air, look at yourselves in the mirror at 70 looking like frigging Jane Fonda and let it be, please. How can one be a stones fan and such a judgemental jerk is beyond me...

Well I for one would be DELIGHTED! I think Pitiful rocks, Get Up is fun, and I'm very much looking forward to BACK OF MY HAND. This was a very good year for the Stones, the last one too, probably.

Well I far prefer Still Life to Hampton, so I'd rather not. Still life is imo a case of very clever compiling and editing, and a far more enjoyable listen - it doesn't hurt that it's shorter either!

Well... sorry to piss on the thunder here, and I won't be saying nothing new either, but still: I think LA Friday is just ruined by Jagger's horrible and distasteful performance. I am surprised that the Stones were THAT good a band in 75, and Ronnie and Bill owned the show to my ears, but I'm afraid only die-very-hard fans could even tolerate to listen to such voice for 2 hours.

I'm thinking of getting some ABKCO albums on HD tracks. Now I have the Abkco 2002 remasters which are fine, so I wonder - did they really go back to the master tapes again? Is it really worth it? Thanks for your opinions!

So I've downloaded CD2 of Girls Pills & Powder, and - I still I've heard these tracks in better quality before. Frustrating! Let me explain: I'm kind of a lapsed bootleg listener, I used to buy all them Swingin' Pigs in the 90s but mostly now I only listen to studio stuff and when still a student (and therefore broke) I've sold most of my bootlegs. This was before

Listening to the remade snippets made me want to go back to the originals - which are so much more moving. I remember I had very good quality versions, but now can only find one from Place Pigalle with some vynil scratch sound, and a horrible mix from Sister Morphine with, as ever, tons of trebles, and the whole flesh taken out of the midrange. Does anybody know of better sources? (a download lin

Pity about Don't be A Stranger though... Always loved the outtake, but this seems to fall on the wrong side of 2012 Mick vocal style.

Thanks! I'm loving the snipets. The new vocs are much better (from what i can here) than the exile ones, and often it's really knowledge of the boots and assumption that no final takes were in the can that convinces me they're new, rather than sound. i guess the nasal sound of 78 is closer to Mick's actual style than the throaty style of Exile; and simply, jagger seems in bett

Eric Burdon, 2006: Burdon 2008, no problems with the high notes that I can hear! Not saying the arrangement is top - intro far too long, the whole thing a bit corny - but the pipes are still working fine IMO.

Stoneage: somehow it seems just as hopeless - more hopeless? - to expect morality from a government than from an individual. I'm French: these days do not make one optimistic. But I understand your point as: it is the government - the law - that should force individuals into acting in a moral way. And the law has, of course, to bind the governement itself (separation of powers etc). Howev

JOSEPI, who cares about your IQ? Let me rephrase: you may be smart - but you're short of wisdom. Who cares if you worked all your life? As your fellowman, the only relevant thing for me is whether you've been ethically responsible, a decent member of the community. But someone who believes that life is about taking every break he gets without wondering whether his actions are good or ba

JOSEPI: I can't believe that you'd boast of your speculations and consider yourself smart. Even less can I believe it when I read people encouraging speculations in times of recession as if that was a smart thing to do. Get real and responsible! Investing is one thing - i.e. supporting a business you believe will be successful; it's economically healthy; speculation is nothing but

Love it! I'm no fanatic: I don't care much for anything stones related since VL, save a few songs... and a fair share of Goddess. I thought SH would be good fun, which is already quite something. Well it's no game changer but it's more than good fun! I think the mix of voices works extremely well. Everybody does a great job and they complement each other well: I don

BTW I love Miracle Worker, beats ABB by a mile if you ask me, and also Plundering my soul. I can't take it no more is rubbish but a lot of the snippets I find very promising. I'm surprised there is not more enthusiasm here! And I love the pink suit, Jagger is too funny, that old crazy gargoyle. The others are fine and dandy, but the whole thing would lack spice without Jag. His dance

The translation is faulty. Jagger doesn't say that he doesn't hold Keith in high regards. The line reads: "Jaggger says he has not played SH to Keith, whose memoirs - which are tough on him - he has not read." So nothing new under the sun and no angry word about Keith: the usual diplomatic answer, "I've not read it".

Actually the toothless beaded hag and 'schooled with a strap right accross my back" fit in the Jesus reading very well, if you see them as metaphors of Israel dominated by the Roman Empire and thus powerless (toothless) and of the priests that taught in the Synagogues who tried to put an end to Jesus' ministry... I think this reading works through and through! And indeed with t

I think it testifies to the Stones' greatness that although they were often copied, they would still be the immediate new big thing if they put out an album today that would contain: Jumping Jack Flash Street Fighting Man Sympathy for the Devil Monkey Man You Can't Always Get What You Want Brown Sugar You Got the Silver ... The Stones classics have become part of rock'

Mick always had odd ways of pronouncing stuff. During the whole 75-76 tour (SO annoying), then completely different during the 78 tour, and on Goddess as well. I think what you pointed out is a gimmick that he uses these days when he wants to sound loose and ragged (presumably in keeping with the Exile spirit etc). Can't say it's very efficient in this respect - Sir Mick has not sounded

Quotedrewmaster QuoteBeelyboy Quotestraycatuk I can understand people been disappointed with Mick's vocals . I'd like to hear a performance like Let it Loose , but that was recorded almost 40 years ago . He's 66 YEARS OLD........ I think he's done a great job with an older, less "flexible" voice. Imagine Daltry trying to sing on a Who's next outake or Dylan on s

OK I'll eat my hat - listened to it again on youtube and am indeed enjoying it more and more. Good stuff. Even the repetitive structure works for me now, sort of a Dylan-like song played by the Stones. And I am getting seriously into Jagger's vocals. At first they felt forced, but now I feel real edge (not artificial snarl); how he sings "loving", with the voice sometimes crac
