I don't think they areall the same filming wise. Havana Moon is much, much better than SSS where there are too many fast moving cameras (the worst is the one above Charlie that turns up and down all the time). In Havana Moon there are many camera angles yes, but most of the time they show what is important. It wasn't cut randomly as SSS is sometimes but catches the communication of th

QuoteOpenG Jagger has the chords for SFTD and is using guitar voicings starting at 12 fret for E then down to D and A but the song really takes off when Keith joins in playing Open E and the rest is history. The Open E chords Keith plays are not even on the record... The song took off when they dropped the folk ballad thing and made a samba out of it. Mick wrote the lyrics, the melody and the cho

QuoteDandelionPowderman I'll go out on a limb and say that Rocks Off is the most underrated song by the band themselves. It should have been the leading single off the album. A powerhouse of a rocker, but with clever parts and great dynamics. Fantastic vocals. They play it on one tour, try it a few times in 1975. Then they wait till 1994 to pick it up again. And after that they only play

QuoteDandelionPowderman Haven't heard of anyone who doesn't like Let It Loose? How can it be underrated, except by the band themselves? Well I know what you mean, it depends on how you understand underrated. I think that Let It Loose is underrated in a way that the hardcore fans love it, but it isn't as known to the public as it should be. Underrated by the labels to not put it on

Definitely Let it Loose. The song is a masterpiece itself and definitely one of the most underrated Stones songs. Never played live (maybe for a good reason, can't imagine Mick getting these scratchy vocal right live). Sweet Black Angel was the B-Side of Tumbling Dice so it got a bit more attention than let it loose, so I would say that one can't be the most underrated

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteDoxa QuoteDandelionPowderman Isn't it pretty well-documented that SFTD wasn't quite finished? Jagger had the basic chords, melody and lyrics written. So the song was there about finished even before Jagger entered to a studio. Ask Charlie Watts. What after that happened was a thing called arrangement. Like what happened with "Brown Sugar".

QuoteDoxa I think StonedRambler is generally right about the tendency on balance of Mick vs. Keith songs since the times of STICKY FINGERS. That of Mick bringing more rather complete written songs to the table than Keith, and Keith's songs started be more like riff ideas to be developed into songs in a studio. If we take STICKY FINGERS, more or less 'pure' Mick songs are "

To all those who dislike Sgt Pepper - please give the album one more chance now and then. It took me long to really like Pepper because I always thought there were better songs on other Beatles albums. But with Pepper it's not so much about the songs but more about the atmosphere that the album creates, just as it is with Exile. When I am not in the right mood I can't listen to pepper b

Many Stones songs in the "golden years" were either made by Mick bringing an almost finished song to the studio (Sympathy, Brown Sugar, You can't always get) or by Keith bringing a hook or a riff to the studio (Wild Horses, Street Fighting Man, Can't you hear me knockin'...) to let Mick write some verse lyrics. Of course Keith brought also finished songs (like Gimme Shel

Yes, who by numbers is also my favourite who album. Also Goats Head Soup gets a lot of bashing which I don't get. I think there is not one single filler on it. Only the order is not optimal, especially Dancing with mr d is a weak opener compared to the previous three albums. Also the cover is weak compared to the previous three. And I think a weak cover lets an album automatically sound w

Quotematxil QuoteStonedRambler ... Well , and I never thought that Tattoo was such an excellent album as many people think. It's still good but I could live without it Ouch! I think somewhere in heaven, an angel weeped when you wrote that. It's good but can't keep up with Exile, Sticky Fingers and Beggars Banquet (just my opinion).

QuoteSpud Give it another listen...and turn it up . The dynamics are more natural than with many recent live releases and it needs a bit of volume to come alive. I noticed this too. But still the tonality is bad, dull sounding and no power in the low end. With a Hifi-EQ switch (boosting treble and bass) it sound much better and then when you turn it up it's really listenable. It helps to have a Hifi-EQ Button on the amplifier engaged which boosts treble and bass. This way the mix sound more open in the highs and fatter in the bass area. Of course it can't solve the phasing issues but at least the tonality is okay this way

Man, why don't they let Bob Clearmountain do the mixes anymore. Saving costs? Bob Clearmountain knows how to mix the Stones but this Sam Wheat does quite mediocre mixes in my opinion. QuoteSpud Quoterara I don't find the Stones particularly loud, especially since the stopped using subwoofers. Some small club shows are much louder than stadium shows. They haven't "stopped using subwoofers" per se ...but your point is a good one. No, rara is right. They don't use subwoofers anymore.

I thought that they were a lot louder this year than last year. Last year in Hamburg and Munich the sound was relatively quiet (it was louder in Paris though) but Prague this year was one of the loudest concerts I've ever been to. Stuttgart was also quite loud. Even Bjornulf wrote in his Review that he had to use earplugs for Prague.

The Rolling Stones of course. Mick Jagger - best show man in the whole history of rock'n'roll (yes Freddy Mercury might be the best singer but he ain't got the moves like Jagger) Keith Richards - alone that he somehow managed to survive in spite of all the drugs he took is a big talent. Then he wrote Riffs like Satisfaction, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Start Me Up. Yes Clapton,
