Ha, they could do it Floyd-style, like have in come down from out of the dark above onto the stage, and at the end let it go up in flames, or have it grow wings and let it fly off ... would be a cool gag!

Great pics! That's what makes snapshots so interesting: you get to see things that take place during a (split-)second only and that would be lost otherwise.

QuoteDandelionPowderman There's something with the flow on this album that isn't right, but it's still the best latter-day Stones album, imo. Yeah, same impression here although I couldn't really say what it is that isn't right. My standout tunes on SW are Terrifying, Rock And A Hard Place (which semingly nobody else likes) and Continental Drift (for its experimenta

QuoteDandelionPowderman You knew they were playing She's A Rainbow, Sweet Virginia and Dead Flowers even before the setlist was posted? Or is a "real surprise" that they pull stuff out of the hat like Mercy Mercy every night? I didn't but others apparently did. I guess a "real surprise" is something different for everyone here. For me, "She's A Rai

Well, people spend a lot of dough, hoping this time there will be a real surprise. And then they find out there isn't. Some may be frustrated. I don't see the spoiler factor either in posting a set list. You know what to expect from a Stones show these days. Disappointment is not so much a set list that doesn't contain any big surprises but rather a bad performance. And from wha

Safe deal: noone performing --> free festival no problem. They could still open the Merriweather Post Pavillion to the people and let them have their own thing. Would probably be more in the spirit of Woodstock than Miley Cyrus.

Quotedcba Another difficulty would be to travel on the road with a real piano... I'm sure that in every place they play an upright piano could easily be rented if they wished so. Renting out (and delivering, tuning) pianos for performances is a regular business and the Stones' budget would certainly allow for it (and Keith quite likely needs no Steinway D-274 grand piano). They wi

@Hairball, can you also do Townshend's windmill without hurting you fingers? - Who knows, maybe they take you on if you can do without payment but offer a little donation instead. The way things look, they're gonna need it... Here's my list/suggestions for potential participants: The Santana Revival Band The Who Revival Band The CCR Revival Band The CSN&Y Revival Ban

After many years I listened again to I Feel Like Playing, released roughly 9 years ago. I wasn't over-enthusiastic when it came out, but after re-listening ´now I must say it's a charming album with quite OK tunes, and again it's a pitty Ron is not allowed more involvement in Stones albums, he would add colours that suited the Stones quite well. I wouldn't mind another Ronnie

Please no!!! We've got Honk Live, and that's already tough to digest even for hard-nosed seasoned fans. We don't need more of that. And then, think of all the studio time needed to brush tracks up for release. They better invest that studio time in the new album-in progess. With a live documentation of every tour since 1975, yet another life album would make sense only if contai

So it's now Keith that gets that often says it's his last tour? I thought that was Charlie! Actually, I thought the bold part in the quote refers to the album-in-progress but reference to the present tour also makes sense. Joh

I saw "Floris" in my teens, when it was broadcasted on Austrian TV. Took a while until I learned that Floris later became Roy Batty, I didn't recognise him as the same actor. He certainly was a better actor than some of his roles may suggest.

Quotegeorgelicks Mick: "we’re trying to finish the new album, maybe we’ll make it and I think it will definitely be the last of the Stones, so we’re trying to do a good job.” Doesn't sound good and doesn't sound particularly motivated. Like, 'In principle we should do it and we should do it well, but we really don't feel like'. Appears like the brick wall is s

They should have restricted the whole thing to people who were and musicians who played at the original event in 1969. Would have condensed the event to one day, maybe only afternoon and/or evening, no need for special security forces (but maybe some additional doctors and a crane for pulling septuagenarians/octogenarians out of the mud), even the pills would be legal then (blood pressure, consti

With all due respect but Mick's acting skills are, like, ... hmm ... others are better at it. He should have been acting out the great Rolling Stones song(co-)writer and vocalist in some studio, rather, me thinks. Or will we get a Mick-penned soundtrack album with gems such as Gotta Get A Blip, Hit Me With A Stick ...?

So all this sounds like there will be a new Rolling Stone (note the singular) album still this year! - And I don't care whether Ronnie wrote/recorded the tunes over the past few years or only last week. Now what could this mean w.r.t. the new Rolling Stones (note the plural) album? I'm pretty sure Ronnie didn't do this behind Mick and Keef's back but they were informed and

Hairball, HMS, GasLight and others certainly have a point wondering to what degree all those songs are finished - finished in the sense that they could go to the pressing plant right now. My guess is that for many if not most songs the basic structure stands (and maybe even more than that) but Mick hasn't finalized yet the vocals, they're not happy yet with some solo, or wondering it

I read somewhere that also Gram Parsons showed Keith a number of alternative tunings but I don't know (or can't recall) which they would have been or if any of them was used on any Stones song.
