QuoteHairball Rae Dawn Chong "Chong — the now-58-year-old grandmother and daughter of Cheech & Chong's Tommy Chong — ..." She is Tommy Chong's grandmother and daughter at the same time? Now that sounds like a really sophisticated family structure ... Apart from that, I guess there's quite a number of rock musicians from the 60s and 70s (and likely also later)

Quotedoitywoik Anyway, if he really stated in an interview that he came to Sicily because he plans to record a new solo album there, we will certainly learn about it here on IORR sooner or later. And we did: In the Sicily thread this is given as the source of the rumour; Secondo un'indiscrezione, pare che Jagger sia in zona da mesi, ospite di una grande tenuta dove starebbe dedicando

QuoteHairball @doitywoik - I believe that was a reference to Ronnie's colorfully gaudy scribbled setlists he draws for each show, and which he's been selling overpriced copies of lately... You're right of course! There's their division of work on the road: Mick and maybe Chuck come up with the setlists and Ronnie paints them (while Keith is trying to remember the opening ch

QuoteHairball It's probably not matter of fact regarding solo or Stones, but just a generic statement that Mick is working on music in general. Or maybe something was lost in translation..., i.e. Mick is working alone on new music vs. Mick is working on a solo album. Yeah, that's pretty much what I think. Maybe some reporter asked him what he is doing in Sicily and Mick said somethin

QuoteBig Al No, I absolutely do believe that we’ll be gifted with a new studio album: it’s just a question of when, exactly. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it’s suddenly announced out of nowhere. It’d create an immediate buzz, too. Well, the buzz is there for a number of years now, it just doesn't seem to help the making of the album. But there will certainly be some meadia attention

QuoteHairball .. but to think he could have helped the Stones write and release more material at faster pace over the years? Maybe just a little, but probably nothing more than that. Ronnie would certainly not have written major parts of Stones albums but the occasional song here and there, or some riff, wouldn't seem unrealistic to me. He certainly seems to find more joy in painting these

I readily believe that Mick is constantly writing but it seems that that's enough to satisfy his creative urge. There's rather no more (or very little) urge to also turn that into a finished product. Certainly there's no financial motivation at this point. I'm not so sure about Keith, who every now and again also claims to be writing songs all the time. By speculation (or as

There's also the story that Slash was present in the studio when Keith recorded Thru And Thru. When he finally asked Keith if he could also play on the track Keith told him in a very Keith-ish way that unfortunately this will not happen.

QuoteDiamondDog7 Charlie could use some advice during recording of Cherry Oh Baby! I recall an interview from decades ago where (I believe) Keith said they (or he) spent quite some time teaching Charlie a way to do the drumming on that song. Like, Charlie didn't want to do the drumming because he felt he wouldn't get that beat despite trying hard. Maybe someone (Rockman?) can come up

QuoteHairball In reality, it's more like they've mastered the art of procrastinating.... Yeah, why is Keith suddenly walking the dogs and why is Mick tending the roses all day long? It's called Structured Procrastination: that is, you'd do anything rather than what you ought to do (and in this way get loads of work done you wouldn't do otherwise). Stanford philosopher

Shatner's singing voice is certainly in a class of its own ... Quoterbk These are the kind of CDs people give each other at Christmas as jokes. They're played once or twice and then put on the shelf never to be heard again. That is, on a par with Stones greatest hits compilations in recent years?

Yes, he did it again: William Shatner recorded a new album, this time a blues album. Sounds like it was a fun affair. Stones connection: Route 66, Mannish Boy. He also did Cream's Sunshine Of Your Love. Shatner will be 90 next March, so noone say age is a barrier to being a prolific recording artist. This is his fourth album since 2011's Seeking Major Tom. Here's the track li

Quotemosthigh I thought it was pretty slack of Floyd to employ extra musicians under the pretext that they needed them to play the new material live, yet they were still there on the old stuff as well. I remember an article in Rolling Stone mentioning that Gilmour, Mason and Wright were outnumbered 2 to 1 by hired guns and questioned whether this was really a 'band'. Luckily neither
