Quotejahisnotdead There aren't enough Stones albums, in my humble opinion. What hardcore Stones fan rejects new music by their favorite band? In my opinion, artists create. Active bands put out new albums. Active painters paint new paintings. I'm just old fashioned like that. To me it's weird to go on world tours year after year for the fans, but not put out new albums of original

QuoteSpud The bottom line for most casual fans I suppose is whilst ever you have Mick and Keith, you have perhaps the most obvious and recognisable elements of the Stones image and indeed "sound" . Changes in other band personnel, whilst fundamental to many of we around here, do not register quite so seismically with other folks. And whilst ever Mick and Keith want to be in the s

Quote24FPS A Stones album without Charlie. Why bother? You think the average fan buys new Stones albums? The ones paying $200 and up for nosebleed seats in a 60,000 seat stadium? No, it's geeks like us, hoping against hope the sound will be as good as it was. It won't. The Stones were never about getting hotshots to play the hits note perfect. (Or they would have gotten better ones).

QuoteProfessorWolf QuoteI get nervous when I hear about Mick having the stamina to go on and on. Or that the band (or whoever is in it) can perform into the 2030's. It really would be sad to see The Stones ('featuring the amazing original 86 year old lead singer Mick Jagger') becoming a kind of tribute act to themselves. Propped up by session musicians, friends of friends of the o

QuoteDoxa But leaving all that sentimental stuff about 'this is the very last show ever' or that them leaving the stage forever supposed to be some sort of a Bigger Bang (sic) I think with the Stones the question is that ANY concert is such. And has been for a long time. The Stones are so damn popular and blessed that they have never needed to promote any of their tours as farewell ones

I'm giving a big vote for Sir Doug Sahm of the good ol' Sir Douglas Quintet, Texas Tornados, and guest on umpteen recordings by anyone and everyone he felt a connection to. Needless to say Sir Doug has no chance whatsoever of getting nominated. Never mind selected. Too much of a maverick. Too independent. Too eclectic. Too difficult to categorise. Too anti-establishment. Too cool. A

QuoteSpud QuoteGerardHennessy Always a strong possibility given the 60th anniversary milestone. For me, sadly, I shall not be attending any of these events. My personal experience is that The Stones have ceased to be relevant in any way other than as a nostalgia-fest. Having seen them several time over the last ten years I now realise I just attended pretty-much the same event over and over.

God bless you Ronnie Bennett Spector. My very first female rock star crush. Although it was more earthy than a mere romantic fantasy. That beehive hairstyle, the voice, the tight dresses, the legs, the towering heels, the mascara. Yep it made my grubby little adolescent mind go into serious meltdown. In fact she was a good girl made to look 'baad' by her management. Inside she was

If by some miracle the band survive for another ten years I can imagine this thread will still be going strong. And we will STILL be none the wiser. And during the last gig Keith sat down on a couple of songs in order to get things right. And on the last, super expensive ticket wise, gig they were down to 17 songs. 90 percent warhorses. It's not a crime to be critical thinking.

Love it. The fact that it is not polished, far from note perfect, and not especially serious, all adds to its charm. The song was always OTT, regardless of who sang it. Elvis manages to sound like he is imitating himself on his version. Great bit of guitar on this as you would expect from the Ronmeister, and the drawings are wonderful as all his artwork is. My favourite Christmas record
