Their last truely great album. The only weaker song (Hang Fire) doesn't take away the overall brilliance of it. The guy who dug up all the out-takes that ended up on the album deserves a medal (or, rather, at least 50% of the copyrights).

QuoteDandelionPowderman Actually, ER seems to have become better rated among fans in recent years, from what I've read here, there and everywhere. Black And Blue, however, must be one of their most overlooked albums regarding the quality. The problem with Black And Blue is that Cherry Oh Baby really is very awful. The rest of the album is alright, but it lacks really big highlights, apa

I think "Emotional Rescue" seems rather underrated. It normally doesn't end up high in lists of great Stones' albums. TSMR is 50% extreemly good (much better than Pepper) but 50% very very bad, Undercover is occasionally great but it has 4 shit songs on it and Between the Buttons is not even bad, just boring, meaningless and - worse of all: - fake, unauthentic. But ER has

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotetreaclefingers Having listened to the album incessantly for a number of months now, the songs Get Close, Depending on You, WWW, Bite My Head off, Dreamy Skies and Driving Me Too Hard just don't get old. Nothing wrong with the rest of the album, but it's not like I'm dying to put Angry on. But I'm that way with Satisfaction too. I'm too young

I am not sure who played on what, so I am just dividing them according to the period in which each of them was still member of the Stones. I am not sure I was allowed covers, but anyway, I have included them too. Brian Jones No Expectations Sympathy For The Devil Gimme Shelter (really just Keith, right?) The Last Time I Am Waiting Flight 505 Down The Road Apiece It's All Over No

I like Love Is Strong, You Got Me Rocking (it's a no-brainer but it works live), Sweethearts Together and Baby Break It Down. The rest I don't care about. The few times on VL that they try to do something original (New Faces, Moon is Up, Suck On The Jugular), they fail. It's not a good album. From all the post-Tattoo You albums, it's probably their most uninspired and bor

QuoteTestify I don't understand what's wrong with YGMR, I liked it straight away and I would have bet that it was the classic song to play at the stadium and so it was. It's not my favorite song to listen to at home, but it has a great impact live. Someone will wonder what it has to do with I Go Wild, nothing... but I read in many comments that it is brought up and I don't

A very cliché of a song, the Stones second-guessing themselves. Either they wrote it in their sleep or they picked up an average guy from the street and told him: "write a typical Stones song". Yes, Keith has done some great things with the I-IV progression, but it always a required a bit more than this. The lyrics seemed to be written by ChatGPT before it even existed, by just giving

Well, I guess one never loses talent as such, but they've lost the right circumstances and the need to push themselves to the limits. And probably also a bit of youthful energy and drive. Of course, "considering their ages" (as everyone says), it's amazing that they can do this anyway, especially Jagger, at 80 years, still running around like that. And it's true, it

I have the same feeling, but not about Tell Me Straight (which I like) but about Thief In The Night, which I think is brilliant. And I am still surprised that the live versions are very good too: it's a difficult song and Keith has a habit of messing things up live. By the way, I think Picasso in the later years of his life was not as good as in the earlier years, a few exceptions aside.

QuoteDandelionPowderman I'm pretty sure they could pull off both Driving Me Too Hard and Live By The Sword nicely live. They would have to take the risk that at the start of Driving, people think it's Tumbling Dice, start cheering enthusiastically, then realise it's not, and inflate all that energy. I've seen that sort of thing happening with other acts, and though it'

QuoteSilver Dagger Spot on Gas. It stands alone on its own merits. The most common argument is that it's not as good as so and so. Why do people feel the need to compare all the time? Do people really want the band to regurgitate the classic Stones' sound from the 70s? I certainly don't. That was then but this is now. It's a great album. This seems to be a misunderstanding
