I just do not believe they have "lots" of super duper quality concerts in the vault. I pray I am completely wrong. Unless something pops up from an unexpected source I do not believe we will see any shows from 1980 or before with the exception of 1976 Paris and 1972 Philadelphia.

I am a Milwaukee born kid. I was too young to remember our Braves. I remember Hammerin Hank as force in Atlanta from the lates 60's to early 70's. Then we got our wish and Hank came back to Milwaukee and finished his career. He was REVERED in Milwaukee. He was class and dignity. CUT through all racial barriers and was loved by all. A true loss to the human race.

I tend to agree with the original posters thoughts. I think the TV friendly groups like The Monkees, Paul Revere & The Raider, Hermans Hermits are really dealt a shit hand by "rock snobs" These groups were the pioneers of moving the medium forward. They drove TV, record sales, concerts (usually caravans of some sort, trends, clothing, etc.. Quite frankly without Paul Revere, Mon

Not excusing Phil by any means, but I thought for decades that he had severe untreated mental illness. I always find it sad that some celebrities can fly above getting help that would dramatically change their lives. A woman lost her life over his psychosis. No winners here. Even musically he was up and down, genius one moment, bizarre and inchorenet the next. Just a sad and twisted sto

For myself in Milwaukee, WI it was (still is a bit) Record Head on 68th and Lincoln and 74th and Hampton. They had a great selection in the mid 70's thru early 80's. They got busted in about 1981 or so. They really backed it down after that. Miss those days. Never knew what would be in the racks.

I didn't know who she was until we saw her on a commercial this past summer. My wife suspected that I didn't know who she was and asked me how many of her movies that I had seen. I guessed 2 and the laugh was on me. I have successfully avoided current music for a good 20 years now! How sales are calculated today means that she has sold about 20 million less LP's than Hermits He

My first experience was in 1975. Bought "Bedspring Symphony" and "Nicaraguan Benefit Concert 2LP" at Record Head in West Allis, WI. Life was never the same. As a 13 year old listening to that 1973 blazing concert was awe inspiring (still is).

Like CindyC said "i've been listening all weekend. agree with the others, it's mainly non ABKCO stuff." It seems odd that they are neglecting the pre 68 catalog. Something is going on here. I suspect there is some sort of royalty issue. I am not really complaining as it it fantastic to hear all Stones all the time.

They have already repeated "Bitch" and "Miss You" over the last 160 minutes. Sirius XM has had issues with short and unenlightened playlists in the past.

They did just play studio Gimme Shelter. First pre 1971 actual recording I have heard in a couple hours of listening.

Been listening the past couple hours. No pre Rolling Stones Records recordings that I heard. They did play live versions of older songs but no originals pre 1971. Kind of odd.

Bedspring Symphony and Nicaraguan Benefit concert bought at Record Head in West Allis, WI 1976. I was blown away by these two bootlegs and continued on till the late 80's. Had over 300 boots at one tome, Sold most of them in the 90's as I switched to CD and then digital. Big mistake.

QuoteThe Sicilian Altamont Interesting selection. I think you are right on. Most performers including todays tough guys would have been crying for mama at Altamont. Mick and the band stood their ground and delivered.

The 70's era for the Kinks was when they were on RCA and they seemed to have no management whatsoever and the results showed at least in the sales department. Many fans love the rock opera era of the Kinks. In 1976 they signed with Arista and Clive Davis took a hands on interest in them. What followed was: 1977 Sleepwalker 1978 Misfits 1979 Low Budget 1981 Give the People Wha

My opinion is the album cut is one of the best Stones songs. I have always loved it, the slow build, Jaggers vocals growing more intense, and then it finishes very strong in a groove. The live version from 75/76 is a great song. Just loved that gritty almost heavy metal feel to it. After 76 it has been a weak link live in my opinion. Not sure why but, it never seems to work quite right.

The average temperature in Chicago on November 5 is 54. Granted that is just average. I live in Wisconsin and early November is tricky. We can have great 60+ degree days as well as snow.

How can Van Halen's meh redo of The Kinks "You Really Got Me" be ranked way ahead of the Kinks who wrote it, played it, made it all of ours? These lists tend to just irritate me. Maybe I am getting old and grumpy.

As a man in my late 50's the "growing old" issue has become a reality of life. My demographic is no longer the "hot" demographic where everything on the planet is geared towards me. That is ok. When interacting with younger people it is a bit discouraging how they dismiss anyone over 45. I am sure that I did it in my youth. I can say "Stones at Altamont" to

Hi Ronnie, I downloaded (Amazon) your book and enjoyed it greatly. Great job and thank you for doing it! I just have a couple of observations/questions. 1) It sounded like Mick had a pretty good feel for the business side of life starting in 1969. 2) In your opinion would "Gimme Shelter" have been a much bigger movie with proper distribution at the time? I know it is a class

Why shut it down? This moment is a huge event in Rolling Stones history. The odds were good that someone was going to get shot either on stage or in the crowd.

For sure they are lacking without Bill. Was listening to some boots from 73 and 78 this week ans even commented to my wife that Bill builds a floor for the music. Jones is fine, just not Bill Wyman.

The Grammys up until probably the 80's usually ignored current popular music. It was almost a establishment vs. anti-establishment in the 60's with Grammys. They were far more willing to give a grammy to Sinatra rather than the Stones or the Kinks.
