Kind of daring. One of those tracks that grows in estimation over the years. There's an unfinished sound to it, like the ideas were all over the place.

QuoteMax'sKansasCity It seems some bands are militant about not allowing anything to be posted there... so proost to the Stones for being cool regarding clips... and for that matter, I also offer them thanks for being cool about the trading of Stones bootlegs... as far as I know anyway... Im sure the usual suspects/trolls will have some smart ass crap do you have to say about that, as usual.

QuoteMax'sKansasCity Dang, so Johnny was smart enough to "own" the shows, but not smart enough to have all guests sign off allowing their appearance to be reshown... that is too bad. I have watched some Johnny 1/2 hours showsbeing shown these days, where it is just his comedy, not the whole show. It is good stuff, if you ever get a chance to watch, kind of dated, but still historic

Sort of OT but the official bio of the Stones on the SOFA website pissed me off. It states that the Stones started with Mick and Keith's reunion at a train station. Then it implies the other 'sidemen' joined their enterprise. Brian and Stu, screwed again.

QuoteMax'sKansasCity PS OT- Still waiting and waiting for them to release uncut Johnny Carson's Tonight shows. I know he negotiated ownership of the tapes, and they are preserved in a cave somehwere... now we are just waiting... and waiting... and waiting is the hardest part I'm not sure how many 'uncut' Carson shows we'll ever see. He owns the tapes but each indi

SOFA's website gives no clue. I already have some of those performances from previous Sullivan DVDs. The 3 songs with Mick Taylor are pretty lame, as it's just Jagger singing live over studio backing tracks, especially evident on Honky Tonk Women. This would have been a great idea if you didn't already have them from boots and official sources.

I worry about her. She's become reclusive and her physical condition from supposed MS is not public knowledge. I know she lashed out at Bob Dylan a couple years back, which seemed fruitless. I was lucky to see her the last time she toured, on a triple bill with Dylan and Van Morrison in 1998. I did run into Tom Scott and told him I loved his work on 'Court and Spark'. That album mi

Quotesaltoftheearth My initial message was meant to be serious so I am in fact a little disappointed that nobody would like to ask Bill something serious. I don't remember the question, but I did try to communicate with Bill on his blog. Never got a response. There are probably a lot of questions he has an answer for that the politically holds his tongue on. I'd love to know what Bria

I don't buy that Bill is completely divorced from the Rolling Stones business entity. He may have things in his possession that they would prefer not be known so that they can market them later, such as recordings both audio and visual. If he took part in those recordings then he obviously stands to benefit from their sale at some future point. Conversely he doesn't have the legal right

QuoteSleepy City I wonder how much Brian played on the warm-up numbers (Route 66, Confessin' The Blues, etc)? I believe we discussed this recently on another thread that these were not filmed. But, were they audio recorded? Anybody hear of something like that surfacing?

I think there would have been a lot of bad publicity about Brian. He's obviously barely playing on some numbers, and might not even be plugged in on some.

I remember being glad when I first heard it, thinking finally the sleazy, greasy, cum spattered Stones sound was back. They hadn't had that funk since Sticky Fingers. I guess it's a Ron Wood highlight.

QuoteSleepy City Quote24FPS I've never heard this. I'm used to the boot demo, which is far superior to this vanilla version. I wanted to compare the two but I can't find the 'good' version on YouTube. That's what I said earlier. Here's the other version (note the piano instead of organ): Oh yeah, that's the one. Go Stu, go!

It's easy to hide the alcohol abuse when you're mixing it with a bunch of other drugs. The drugs get blamed. I know people that can't drink unless they do a little toot with it, then they can drink all night, although they shouldn't.

Yes, Robert Johnson was the founder, followed by Brian and the others, including Cobain. His mother even stated that he was aware of the 27 club. Is Winehouse really up there with those people? I don't think you should get points for what COULD have been. Actually it makes me angry to think what she pissed away. She was a good songwriter.

That Satanic 14 X 14 piece is the coolest. And has to be exceedingly rare. What a shame there's no museum where all this could be seen. I don't know if the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has ever done a major Stones retrospective. What they display now is remarkably unimpressive.

Quoteab Quote24FPS Now I know how those people who prefer Brian/Mick T/Ron feel. For me the band was deeply wounded when Duane died, and then mortally wounded with Berry's death. The last album I listened to was 'Win, Lose, or Draw'. I know it's not their fault, but it's not the ABB without Duane and Berry. Uh, Win Lose or Draw was released 36 years ago. So you're

I believe Charlie's inexplicable heroin use, and his seedy condition, were one of the reasons Mick didn't think the band was stage ready in the mid-80s. And to clarify, Charlie admitted to using heroin in the 80s during the VL tour, not to doing heroin on the VL tour.

It's because the post is about Brian. We all know that it's eerie how Mick and Keith appropriated Brian's worst excesses after he died. And it seems we're still a little shocked at Bill's proclivities. Not anymore shocking than Charlie being a heroin addict in the early 80s. Guess he felt left out.

It was much better than I expected, though Wyman did state years ago that only he and Keith remember anything. It was interesting reading about his early life. There are a lot of disappointments in how he downplays the accomplishments of others, most noticeably Brian and Bill, but I saw that kind of stuff in 'Lennon Remembers' 40 years ago. It's worth the read.

What is needed is to compile all known videos of Duane Allman and get them on a proper DVD. This legend is practically forgotten, and it was only 40 years ago. Most of ABB at the Fillmore East was videotaped. There were various festivals, yet we can't commercially buy a DVD of perhaps the greatest slide guitarist of all time. Pity.

When a band has been around 50 years, you're bound to have some turkeys, and this was a big gobbler. I'd put it up there with their early embarrassing attempts like 'Under The Boardwalk'. Of course them covering 'Like A Rolling Stone' was pretty bad too. New thread!
