“Tumbling Dice” and “Happy” are the most famous songs off of Exile (if not most popular and/or greatest) but to my ears, “Rocks Off” was the one song off that album that had more AM/FM radio airplay/#1 hit single potential than any other. Fantastic song, and the horns are a big reason for that. Not only are they prevalent, but they’re done in such a tasteful arrangement that it really makes the s

QuoteMathijs Apparently Jim Barber did some work on the guitar in 1982 where he changed tuners and added strap locks as Keith wanted to use it again for Undercover studio sessions. Mathijs Mathijs, I thought this Les Paul Custom was one of the guitars stolen in the Nellcote robbery, and that Keith only got it back in 2005.

“Melody” has never been played in the US, but it was played at one (or both) of the El Mocambo shows in Toronto in 1977. So it has been live in North America.

Quotevirgil 25 years since they played the Superdome. They still hold the all time attendance record at this stadium from 1981 tour when 81,000 packed it inn. That was also the record for the largest indoor concert in North American history for 33 years. George Strait broke it at AT&T stadium in Dallas TX 2014 with 105,000 fans. It was actually 87,500 in 1981.

Quotebv The best stages are the natural stages, like Waldbühne and Hollywood Bowl. I was so lucky to get a "on stage" pit seat at the Hollywood Bowl, there was one on stage pit on each side with may be 30 chairs, very small area. Also No Security was a great concept, plus the 360 degrees ärena stage only used in 1998 spring, where people were seated behind Charlie, a strange still great

The irony is that the 2019 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage fest had one of the most impressive lineups I'd ever seen. As close to a dream lineup for me. But I'd rather have a real-live healthy Mick than an as-close-to-a-dream-music-fest. And there's no way I would pay go to a Woodstock 50th Anniversary (and, certainly not with that announced lineup, save for the Doobie Brothers).

Very good list indeed. But why is “Almost Hear You Sigh” on it: it’s the next level of a kind of Stones ballad started by “Beast of Burden”. (And, like BoB, it’s a GREAT song.)

Going by the original itinerary, the dates that were added late are the Lexington, Tempe, Kansas City and Hampton shows. Not sure exactly when they were added but it was def after the tour had started. But what I want to know is when and why the shows at the BJCC Arena in Birmingham and Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale (Long Island) NY got cancelled. (Especially the Long Island shows: the Stones a

I owe that man an apology. For years, I was part of the elite "Ronnie Wood if only he could/unworthy pretender to the throne of Mick Taylor" crowd. But now, the more I listen Ronnie's playing on the 1975 and 1978 tours, his lead work on Steel Wheels and Urban Jungle tour, his work with the Faces and the Jeff Beck Group, and most of all, his solo albums, the more I realize what a
