This movie is an abomination. This was my introduction to the 1981 tour, and as such, it initially ruined for me what I now believe to be an energetic and very unique tour. The overdubs and editing of the music (and poor direction on the part of Hal Asbury) is a disgrace. When I got the complete and uneditied recording of the Tempe show, I was blown away by how much better the performance was. Th

Only saw two concerts this year: Judas Priest and the Doobie Brothers. Both were some of the best concerts I ever been to. Had tickets to Mick T's show in MA, but he unfortunetly had had to cancel.

QuoteGazza Apart from the obvious answer, IMO the best Stones live release is the EP 'Got Live if You Want It'. +1. The version of "I'm Moving On" from this ep is my favorite song the Stones covered.

Quotetumblingdice Don't worry tumblingdice, in another 10-15 years, the same people that view ABB as a piece of sh!t now will be saying what a great album it is while they await the latest release from the 2 members that are still trying to keep the brand going aka The Who! LOL Funny how Exile was also considered crap when it first came out, and in a couple of years, it became the bes

Quoteskipstone The trog says, "MY FAVE TRACKS ARE" and then goes on to list the track list of the album. Very troggy. So far it's their only album of the Twenty hundreds. And stevecardi, we're in the early Twenties, not the late Twenties. That would be more along the line of 2090 or 2099. Haha, I was trying to imply the years 2002-2009. I never seem to get the right w

QuoteLoudei Its a stupid question. I ve bought many albums that sucked at the first listen and then suddenly were great... Exile was something I just didnt get but later on it became the best for me... I think they have released some terrible stuff that remained terrible after the first listen. Dirty Work Voodoo Lounge Shine A Light (concert soundtrack) Exactly, it took me a while to dig

Defenetly agree. I got into the Stones in the early 1990s, and for me, VL and B2B was huge dissapointments. ABB saved the Stones. If this was 1981 instead of the late 2000s where mainstream music is popularized by crap, "Rough Justice" would have spent six weeks at #1. It's by far the best Stones album since Tattoo You. The Stones not playing "Dangerous Beauty," "Dri

QuoteSohoe <<Was the source of this Davis' book?>> I think it's from that Andy Johns interview on the iorr lp Johns tells a story like the above, but Davis 'touched' it up However the incident Andy refered to, actually happened during the recording of Exile. Not iorr ...obviously accuracy isn't really something Stephen Davis is interested in... yeah, I

Quoteswiss 1. We don't know if Ronnie struck eKaterina, pulled her hair, wrenched her collar, ripped her tights, dragged her on the street, threatened to burn her with a cigarette. We don't know. 2. There are 2 named witnesses, and allegedly (according to these articles) one unnamed witness who gave a quote about them arguing for 20 minutes and seeing the above-mentioned couple taki

Given the smart business man Mick is, I think even he knows that, (1) after this, Ronnie has become too much of a liability with the insurers to stay on should they tour, and (2) at this point, the only other guitarist Stones fans would pay the price they charge to see play with the band is Mick Taylor. Indeed, Mick said in his "Jagger Remembers" interview that he knows most fans see th

I was a little too young to see the Stones on this tour..having been born the day of the first Boulder show. But I did get this show on bootleg, having heard it was one of the best shows from 1981. Best version of "Let It Bleed" I ever heard.

Quoteheadly123 My two cents worth. After seeing what McCartney did I think they should do the same. Mini tours so to speak. McCartney did like 7 shows and that was it. The Stones could hold it together fot at long I would hope. Then take a little time and do a few more. They won't get to burned out then. I mean these guys just couldn't do another HUGE tour. You're right, money do

Let me correct myself. What I should have said was that they shouldn't have attempted Sway, Knocking, or MM without MT because his style suited those specific songs better than Ronnie's. I love Ronnie's playing All Down The Line, Love In Vain, Star Star and Wild Horses. And furthermore, I don't think MT's style would have suited great Stones songs like Respectable, Neighb

I'm sorry, but the Stones had no right to play Sway, CYHMK, or Moonlight Mile without Mick Taylor (God help them if they even think about doing Time Waits for No One). I'm probably being delusional, but with Ronnie's current problems and knowing how Jagger feels, I think a Stones reunion with Mick T might not be so far-fetched now. (Hell, Van Halen got back together with David Le

I wondered what the attendence comaprison would be between 1981 & 1989. SW had more people (all stadiums shows), but 81 seemed to have more people at individual shows (90,782 Philly, 87,500 New Orleans, 90,000 LA, 73,000 San Francisco etc.) The only SW shows that reached those figures was LA.

1.) B-sides of VL album not released on the album despite being the superior songs from the era. 2.) So many great songs rehearsed for Licks tour and not played 3.) No surprise guest spots by MT or BW during 40th anniversery Licks tour 4.) Set lists getting shorter, ticket prices getting higher. 5.) Horrible choice for opening acts on US tours since 1989 (The Black Eye Peas and Kanye West---a

"Tell Me" has always been one of my favorites from the early era. Apparently, Keith never liked this song, so when I learned they rehearsed it for '78, I tracked it down. Defenetly a different version, but I think it's good.

Defenitly doesn't deserve the ragging it has recieved, but I think "Biggest Mistake" was the better ballad. Personally, I think the best recent Stones ballad is "Almost Hear You Sigh."

Hahah, thanks man. It's not that I don't mind boots....it's that I @#$%&' love boots. One of the best days of my life was when I walked into a NY store, and saw Brussels Affair Definitive Edition, LA Friday, Blinded By Love in Madrid, and In Action all for sale. Needless to say, I walked out with each of them! A few years later, in the same NY store as first mentioned, I found

Hey guys, I'm Steve. I've been going on this website since 1997, when I really got into the Stones, but this is my first time posting on the fourm. I guess showing my credentials as a die-hard is the best way to introduce myself. Reasons that make me a true Stones fanatic: 10.) Can name the venues, cities, and tours where the biggest Stones shows in the United States took p
