In the original Gimme shelter the rhythm guitar was in either Open E or Open D with a Capo as we all know. Live Keith Richards always Uses standard tuning it seems. Did he ever play it live in open G? I like the rhythm guitar sound of the original best.

A lot of 60 to 70 year olds can't play the guitar as well as they did when they were younger. Clapton is the first to admit he is not as fast as he used to be. I hate to knock Keith Richards but he could not even play some 3 chord songs well in the last tour. Look at the Youtube videos. I hope if they tour again he can regain some of his playing ability.

If you watch Youtube clips from the last tour and a few clips of Richards on stage with the Crickets when they entered the musicians Hall of Fame it seems his Guitar Playing has really gotten bad. Look at clips from the late 60's, the 70's and the 80's. He was never a great Guitar player but he could really Rock!

I think the most creative song was Honky Tonk woman. This song came out in 1969. It Was in opening G tuning and interesting suspended chords. Nothing else sounded like this song then. It was a very original sound.

The box set is overpriced crap. 5 songs on the 2nd CD? They could have put 15 songs on one cd. They could have included several versions of the songs from different shows. I'm waiting for the Stones to release a box set like Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and the Beatles have done. IT's time for that.
