QuoteDoxa As far as production goes, I think UNDERCOVER is not very cohesive album: some of it very contemporary, the Stones most radically using the sounds of the day - "Undercover Of The Night", "Too Much Blood" and to an extent "Feel On Baby" - but the rest of - the bulk of it, that is - is pretty traditional Pathe Marconi stuff, the Stones actually sounding dat

QuoteEleanor Rigby Do we know what this song is all about? Maybe it's someone in love with an Escort? Let it loose... I think Keith wrote that, actually. That's a very weird, difficult song. I had a whole other set of lyrics to it, but they got lost by the wayside. I don't think that song has any semblance of meaning. It's one of those rambling songs. I didn't reall

QuoteGazza The Stones played literally 29 concerts in 1969. Five of them were filmed professionally for broadcast or cinematic release. Detroit, 3 times MSG, West Palm Beach, Altamont, London. At least 7 shows were (partially) filmed professionally. Oakland was reportedly filmed by Bill Graham. Mathijs

Part of this show was on the vinyl Idle Mind LP 'Charlie Watts and his Fabulous Rolling Stones, '1975 Tour of the Americas Part Two'. The quality is somewhat better than this version. I have always considered this the best show of the LA shows -Heartbreaker, with that fantastic jam-intro, is fantastic, and Fingerprint File is the best ever version, with a fantastic Keith and ho

Quotecimaz Quote24FPS I never play this album. I don't even have a copy in my collection. It's a great single, UCOTN. Too bad it's on this totally meh album. Even Dirty Work is better. Totally agree with this statement. If you don't think tracks like Undercover, She Was Hot, Tie You Up, Too Much Blood, Pretty Beat Up, Too Tough and All The Way Down aren't good Stones

Still in my top five of Stones albums. Fantastic energy, last album they still had that combination of danger, drugs and sex around them. The writing is fantastic, the lyrics are fantastic, the singing is fantastic, the playing is fantastic. The production always was a bit dated, but for the last couple of years it has aged quite well. The production of Hackney Diamonds is closer to Under

Quotestanlove Weak boring song as expected. It’s cringe to me that the Beatles could just never let go of the past. Go to a McCartney concert and chances are you will see video references to the Beatles throughout his concert. It’s been 50 years. They were all like that to. They also all had the need to constantly tell you ever little thought they have about Beatles to. When one dies the others a

Quotetatters QuoteCristiano Radtke Interesting that Paul never actually says who played the guitar solo, only that there's a solo, played "in the style" of George, and that it was done as a tribute to George. Presumably, Paul played it himself? In the video Paul says he played the slide solo 'in the style of George'. A miracle after 60 years the Stones are still c

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 QuoteMrForeverMusicFan I listened to 'Jah Is Not Dead' 17 times yesterday. It's a shame that this song didn't make the final cut for Emotional Rescue. The lyrics such as, "The trouble with Christianity, is that it's Christian! It's the problem of all religions. Religiousness!", "if you're going to do coke, do it i

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteMathijs In all those 40 years the only footage of Jim I know of was him playing trumpet with a large group of famous and half-famous musicians. If I recall correctly Sheryl Crow was there as well, and they could have played Bitch, but I am not sure. It was around 2008. Jim had turned completely bald, and gained some weight, but look unmistakenly like Jim Price. M

QuoteRobberBride QuoteProfessorWolf so sad (if true) how did no one notice this for eight months? You post an excellent question, Professor Wolf. The answer is quite simple, in my opinion. Mr Price excelled at many things. He was an excellent musician, arranger and producer. He was also a master at hide and seek. During the production of the Nellcote Chronicles I really tried to track J

Quotetreaclefingers Well I'm not jumping on the conspiracy thing here, but even Chanel lost her Broadway job to sing ONE SHOW on a Stones tour. She called in sick, the musical with 1200 paying attendance was cancelled, and she flew in to sing with the Stones. No wonder she was fired. And she was by no means part of the Stones session musicians at the time. Mathijs

QuoteProfessorWolf Quotegotdablouse And there's supposedly a 45' version that Mick played to the record company execs who came to see how work was progressing on the new album! i've never heard of that before could someone elaborate a little more on this supposed 45'? That was not the song Jah is Not Dead, but the Delroy Washington track 'Jah Wonderful'. M

Quoteroundnround There is no conspiracy here. When the Stones came to Los Angeles to record last November, Darryl Jones was on a tour in Europe with Niels Lan Doky and his jazz group. This was a commitment made long in advance and could not be changed. The Stones wanted Darryl to play on the record but it wasn't possible. This is why Keith, Ronnie, Paul, Bill and Andrew Watt ended up pla

Especially since Darryl isn't a very good RnR player. Mathijs I also think the same thing though I’ve never heard how the bass sounds andrew

QuoteMisterO He seems like such a nice person. I don't see why he is disliked by some? I don't think anyone dislikes the individual Chuck Leavell, especially as nobody here knows him personally. It's more the combination of his utter non-RnR looks and his style of plinky-plinky piano playing and cheap electric keyboard sound live on stage. Mathijs

Quotegotdablouse But were Chuck and Darryl in the 2019 sessions ? Chuck wasn't in the 2015 sessions since he publicly whined about not being on B&L and made a nuisance of himself until they let him do some overdubs for B&L ! Anyway Darryl's back on stage ! Before Jagger's remark I don't think we knew there were 2019 sessions... Mathijs

Quote24FPS Quotehockenheim95 And no Bernard Fowler! The Stones do nothing by chance. Keith's bass on Angry sounds like what the bass on a Stones song should sound like. They must have heard by now how that was a problem in their overall sound. As for Chuck, I don't know. They used to change the on stage lineup every three years or so. It hasn't been freshened up in 30 years. Mayb
