Rip This Joint Master comparison Password:RTJ Here´s the Rip This Joint comparison. Rip This Joint isn’t the best track to compare but it is what it is The Achilles heel of the experiment is that in order to export it into a videofile I had to transcode the FLAC back to AAC 320kbps audio, so it is lossy in the end. But as a comparison it works nicely, because all the different files are

Quotepmk251 Stolen from a van in 1972, it turned up in someone's attic. Huh! Have the guitars from Villa Nellcote ever turned up? It was possible to follow the quest to find that bass on Instagram and I must say it was a lot of fun (for a nerd). I´ll leave it to Mathijs to answer about the guitars from Nellcote - he is the lead detective on the case.

Downloaded the different versions of RTJ that Ironbelly provided from the different EXILE masterings (above) and cut them together on a timeline as a type of research/comparison. As they are official tracks, mail me if interested. It just for fun. Thanks, Ironbelly!

Go to St Marks Place. There is the bar from the video on the corner: 132 First Ave. Its cozy. Theres a Tattoo You cover framed on the wall by the bar. The Waiting on a Friend staircase is 30 meters around the corner, at St Marks Place no 95-98 I believe. Its at the Physical Graffitti Led Zeppelin house. You´ll see it right away.

End of an Era. Geez how fun it was in Groningen this weekend. Yet, it was also a strangely melancholic thing to walk through the Unzipped exhibition for the last time. I kept thinking, «Will I be able to see all these great things presented together like this, ever again?» Having been in London with DandelionPowderman during the opening week in 2016 and now the closing in Groningen six year

Hey bustabutton, The locals can probably fill you in on the details regarding places to eat and drink. Theres a festival in Groningen this week and plenty of cool bands everywhere. Expect a bit less availability in terms of hotel rooms. On another note, given that the exhibition is closing this weekend, THREE of the IORR-authors will be present at the Unzipped on Thursday afternoon (January 1

I am still positive it will happen. In my mind, the RACKET gig is the ending of the documentary, the culmination of all the great things it will contain; some writing (?), the recording, the excitement of the London release, a bit of rehearsal (?) and the crowd going wild at the Racket gig. Sure, it would have been logical to release it together with the live CD but the album hit a second

QuoteNellcote1971 Exactly this. It's fascinating. I never got it when people called Exile "murky" (still don't) because to my ears it sounded so great. The drums alone... I understand it's not Dark side of the Moon and you won't be able to decipher what exactly is going on here and there but this is rock'n'roll in the end. It's purified greatness, the

QuoteNellcote1971 Did anyone come across this Exile pressing? UK 72, but not the usual Artisan stamps but EG ALLEN in the runout Nope, only Artisan for me This thread made me want to hear the different versions side by side. If anybody have the different versions (Needle-drop/CBS1986/Virgin/(Universal)/Half-speed2) at hand (I have no way of ripping mine anymore), I volunteer making

For those interested in the provenance of the different EXILE masters (like us) here is a repeat of that little tidbit about the 1986 version too: EXILE MASTER From Musician Magazine, April 1987 Rolling Stones on CD: You Can Get What You Need. By Scott Isler "When you consider the type of people the Stones were in those days, you can imagine the approach they took in the studio.&q

QuoteMathijs Keith Richards Flying V Keith’s 1958 Flying V (serial number 8 8698) was stolen from Nellcote in autumn 1971. In the early 1980’s it was purchased by British guitarist and collector Neil Flemming. Mathijs Thank you for your great input - as always - on the Stones guitars! Did not know these details about the Flying V in the 80s. Somehow the images in your post have broken lin

QuoteMathijs It is very much a Keith lyric like 'Happy' is -all loose sentences sounding great, but without a real meaning to it. Mathijs Exactly. A most excellent song. And apart from the exquisite guitar arpeggio, Jaggers epic delivery, the mercury sound of the brass, the warmth of the background singers; is the majestic arrangement. I have wondered many times how much p

QuoteProfessorWolf so sad (if true) how did no one notice this for eight months? You post an excellent question, Professor Wolf. The answer is quite simple, in my opinion. Mr Price excelled at many things. He was an excellent musician, arranger and producer. He was also a master at hide and seek. During the production of the Nellcote Chronicles I really tried to track Jim Price down. Mu

I am prepping a Nellcote presentation (in Norway) and came across a few dusty things that could be of interest to some? First off, here´s a photo of Nellcote right before Keith arrives. It shows the ‘Nellcote Jungle’ in great detail. 1. The gate 2. The staff house / Garage - where Keith parked (some of) his cars. This is the place drugs were found during the raid in December 1971. 3. The

It has probably been mentioned, but the "Happy" lyric is kind of reminiscent of "I Get a Kick out of You". And if you read that Cole Porter lyric, you can sort of see where Keith is headed with his, even though "Happy" is a piece of art on its own and open to individual interpretation. "I Get a Kick Out of You" I get no kick from champagne Mere a

True to style, even from the great beyond Anita Pallenberg made it happen. “Of course I’m going to Cannes” she probably said. Because one of the surprises - at least to me - when the Cannes filmfestival opened today, was that the long awaited Anita Pallenberg documentary is scheduled to screen. The 110 minute film, simply called «ANITA», is directed by Svetlana Zill and Alexis Bloom. It is sai
