The short answer is "no". However, there was never an official single release of Brown Sugar b/w Wild Horses, only as part of compilations/collections/deluxe editions. As part of the settlement between Allen Klein/ABKCO and the Stones in the early 1970's, both Brown Sugar and Wild Horses became jointly owned by both parties. Thus, both the Stones and ABKCO are free to use these

I was at the Milwaukee show. I did business with the promoter and got a backstage pass and front row seats. Very relaxed atmosphere backstage, little security (if any). Walked passed Keith leaning up against a wall, smoking a cigarette. I left him alone, didn't want to bother him with requests for photos (I had a Polaroid with me) or autographs. The concert was good. I figured the show wo

Call me old-fashioned, but...to me, any music that could be played in a disco (or dance club) to which people would dance is 'disco' music... Here is my own party mix of Stones tracks that always gets the crowd worked up and crazed during a rave-up or dance party. The kids love it.... Never saw this footage before, probably because the AP title of the piece is "Hippy Festival Concert". But it is, in fact, 26 minutes of silent, color footage from Atlamont, December 6, 1969. The Stones can be found during the last 3 minutes. Again, silent. Taken from above and behind the stage. It is, however, much better quality than the recently found material from the National Arch

Quoteexilestones I never made a matrix. I presume two records are sandwiched together. If my presumption is correct, would the evolution of matrix recordings be to use RipX or DES software to separate the frequencies (guitar, guitar, drums, bass & vocals) and delete some stems/tracks/tracks? Why have two vocals when one has a better sound? Maybe an IEM recording just needs bass or bass

Thanks for posting this. Especially cool to have a sync'ed version of the 2 audience recordings of "Down Home Girl" from Hyde Park 1969.

I'm going to repeat the question I posed earlier, to which no one has replied. What was playing on the Cotchford Farm turntable the night that Brian died? Was it the Johnny Winter album that had just been released by Columbia? If so, that may explain why the Stones chose to play it. That information could easily have come from someone like Tom Keylock, who was with Brian that night an

Thanks for posting the link to the complete clip of footage. An earlier post says that there is nothing new here that isn't in the official Hyde park 69 video. However it should be pointed out that none of the footage in this clip is actually from the official release. All of the footage is taken from the same, but different, camera angle and features a lot of audience footage. The sound

Thanks very much. It's fascinating to see new footage like this. I wonder how much other 'unseen' footage exists? The press of the world was there and one would think that there ought to be more film sitting on a shelf somewhere.

QuoteBlueTurns2Grey Quotethkbeercan QuoteBlueTurns2Grey I hope it's okay for all who worked on this project. I gave it a try and dehissed "The Sun is Shining". It sounds good to my ears, but is maybe a nightmare for yours. I also used an audience recording and created a matrix version, to give the track more live feeling. In this case, it sounds a bit scary, a typical Altamont feel

We must bear in mind that no one knew in advance what the Altamont concert would become. Regardless of media and hippy hopes for a kind of “Woodstock West”, there is no way the Maysles wanted to make a film like the Warner Bros. blockbuster, “Woodstock”. The Maysles brothers' approach to documentary film-making ("direct cinema" as they called it) was, ironically, not 'to d

I'm not an expert on this subject, but here is my 2 cents worth..... I have seen this film many times over the course of 50 years. The first time was in a movie theater in the early 1970's. At that time, there were 2 'versions' of the film: one, the original Goddard edit, was called "One Plus One". This differs from the currently available version in only one resp

If I remember correctly, although the performance money is split four ways, legally Jagger, Richards and Watts together comprise the Rolling Stones for contractual purposes. I suppose whatever documents were drawn up to stipulate this trio could be rewritten/changed. But that's what I read in this very website a while ago....
