Which link should I download to get Werchter 2007? Is it the first one from ABB 2007?

QuoteStoneage I can think of a few "winning ugly" teams: Leeds and Philadelphia Flyers in the seventies. And a few "winning ugly" players too. And my beloved Arsenal under George Graham, those were the days, Tuesday Club an' all. As for Winning Ugly it's a great tune, but I have always interpreted the lyrics as it is about a man who comes to terms with the fact

QuoteKRiffhard QuoteGreen Lady Quoterebelrebel Quotefranzk Not as bad as I expected. The beat is pretty good and energetic. It's fine other than the solo which had me wincing and laughing simultaneously. Not surprised the poster has turned comments off. Yes, it was going nicely until it came to solo time. This song needs a third guitar (Mick) Yeah Mick in open-G, this tune is wri

I saw them live 2002 and have been listening to them since the mid-90's. Great band, the fact that Richey disappeared contributed to their legend. First band to play for Fidel Castro in Cuba in I think 1998 which one can have its thoughts about, but I do think music can spread awareness and tear down walls to paraphrase Reagan. If all countries would arrrange Rock n Roll concerts at a regula

I never thought about the fact that they only did 20 songs in 1976 (except Frankfurt, Knebworth, London and Leicester) as opposed to the longer shows in 1975.Interesting.

Quoteyeababyyea Two examples of the Stones accidentally playing songs in wrong keys: Tumbling Dice (Landover 2002): Sympathy For The Devil (Toronto 2002): I think Mick sounded pretty good on Tumbling Dice. As I'm a sax player as well as guitar player, what really impresses me are the brass section that by the flick of the finger CONVERTS their notes on Dice to a step lower, i

QuoteWorriedAboutYou QuoteWitness To me EMOTIONAL RESCUE is even better than SOME GIRLS, both among their approximately twelve great albums, preferably otherwise without internal ranking. It is the songs outside the very best though that make EMOTIONAL RESCUE even better than SOME GIRLS, whereas I abstain from ranking between those two albums' very best three songs. There, however, &qu

Quotepowerage78 The Stones and Keith in particular can count for years on a unanimously and incredibly indulgent press. I can't remember a single article in which a journalist made the slightest criticism about Keith playing... Ullevi 2007 anyone? That c**t Markus Larsson is a proper t**t. It was great when Keith got him to piss in his pants a couple of years later. That's how to hand

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteMadMax Quotez QuoteDandelionPowderman No Expectations on Rock'n'Roll Circus was definitely in the wrong key for Mick to sing. Don't know why they changed it. That lasted only for a few bars but Mick and Darryl sort of went along with it Another correction, sorry mate, Paint It Black is played by Keith on his blonde Telecaster from 1959, nicknamed "999"

Wrong guitar, wrong tuning, without capo.

Top 4 on my favourite album: Indian Girl, Down In The Hole, She's So Cold and All About You, Oh Let Me Go as well. I love that Bobby Keys comes in 30 seconds before the end. The whole album is Stones sleaze perfection. I agree with Rocky, Hoodoo Blues and Down In The Hole are two red hot studio blues trax... PLUS it is by far the best produced album in their cannon along with B & B

QuoteGreen Lady I think they just dropped SFM for once to make room for Rocks Off (now there would be a good opener if they were brave enough to do it, but they don't play it often enough to be confident of it) and they will probably stick to SFM from now on. Interesting thought Green Lady, do you reckon they are very similar? I have never thought about that. I always think the Berry-esque

LSNTT must be the worst opener they've ever used. The first song must be a "In-yer-Face-let-the-tigers-out" kind of tune with the band at the front posing for the professional cameramen. SFM, SMU, Satisfaction, BS, JJ FLASH. YGMR didn't work that well either with the "passive" Dsus-riff in Open G more suited for the 2nd or 3rd spot or even PIB for that matter b

Cirkus Stockholm 2003 was an interesting one, I was 2ft from the band and could literally walk on stage and before they came on I saw the plexi and it read Sympathy OR JJ Flash as the closer. It was the next to the last time they finished with Sympathy, Werchter 2007 being the last and I was there as well, FOS. Strange as I've "only" catched them 37 times through the years.

Tumbling Dice, as it is my favourite all-timer, for me actually has its best versions ever during the ABB tour autumn 2006 and summer 2007-stretches. It might have summat to do with the fact that it took up the 10th spot in the setlist position right before the intros and the 9th usually meant a soul number in 06, always I'll Go Crazy in 2007 and this just set up the song perfectly IMHO.

They are probably right, but two hours the same observation is quite annoying. But yes… gigs were much more enjoyable pre-internet/smartphone. The gigs were obviously great. Miss You sounds great, I dig SJ on Crosseyed Heart where I think he got the right groove. Not so sure about JJ Flash and Satisfaction, it is close to cover band territory on a first listen but I still think Jordan is the right choice.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteMelBelli I don’t think there’s a problem with “timing” or phrasing. He picks his spots well. He just doesn’t do much in those spots anymore. He has lost dexterity in his fingers — and to a greater degree than his peers. There’s no denying it. In my opinion, the biggest problem is tone. As he has physically declined, he has insisted on a simpler rig. There is no hid
