Sorta agree with BV in that if you love this band, surprised you wouldn't give a song more than one listen as songs grow on you sometimes. Some people just dismiss newer stuff or say post whatever album it may be. I agree remixes and all that is all stuff I never even listened to once unless by accident.

Not sure why this album gets slagged so much. Its what got my best friend into the Stones, and for the period I grew up I don't know anyone that got into them from say Undercover or Steel Wheels. To this day my wife says this is a great album to workout to.

This is when the second part of the shows was far more interesting with the set list. From what I have heard seems like an awesome show to me!

Excited to see the Bill German one, great guy, as a fellow writer (stones and other things) he has been encouraging to me over the years and we have chatted about that and the Stones. Love this podcast!

Honestly thought this thread was about the Gov' Mule version of this song, which was released on record story day. Fans refer to the band as Mule.

Really like what I have heard from them, some songs are a little strange but the singer pulls it off well.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Stones were the only band to actually play live with no backing track at the super bowl.

Comparing hits when talking about Start Me Up and Undercover, really, there is a reason why Start Me up is played at every show. Where it reached on the charts, does that really matter? She's the Boss sold just as good as Undercover and Tattoo You, does that make it better? All the Way Down is a decent song on a so so, overproduced Stones album.

After the Stones, the Dead have always been my second favorite band. Never cared for Dead and Co but that is another story. Bob had a unique way of playing rhythm guitar. Really fit the sound without driving the song the way Keith usually does. With him and Phil Lesh recently passing, its the end of an era for sure.

November Rain is just awful as is all their cover songs from both Use Your Illusions. You can tell the creativity was not there.

Why does anyone care where things chart. Especially in 2026. If you enjoy the music, then enjoy it. Who cares what others listen to.

They don't seem to be good judges of what to release and what not to. Same goes for ones songs to play live. I think Angry is a much weaker song than Get Close, which I love.

Quote LoveInVain69 Somewhere when Keith was being interviewed about HD they played "Live By The Sword" and he looked wistful -- I think it was BBC2 -- and he said, "that's the last time you'll hear those cats playing together, man!" - but maybe at that point he didn't know if they'd finish the upcoming album... He said this on Howard Stern, then referr

Totally agree Mathijs with last part of your post, those shows were definitely great. Boots from 73 Australia are great, outdoor raw but tight shows. Love that gritty sound and you can tell it was hot outside.

I totally agree that 82 was not nearly as good as 81. Actually I think many tours Europe got screwed as they played the US always first and with more energy/drive. 75 was better to me than 76, 81 better than 82, 89 better than 90 and on it goes. Earlier tours not so much.

Very true Ronnie played with the Jeff Beck Group in Newport Rhode Island that day, there are bootlegs and plenty documented about that.
