I think Ray Davies is playing Mark Knopfler's 1937 14-fret National Style "O" Resonator featured on the cover of Brothers In Arms in the video for 'Do It Again'. Even though 'Do It Again' was released before Brothers In Arms, I have to wonder if that's Mark's guitar. Yet Mark first used the guitar on 'Romeo and Juliet'. Anytime I se

I take my hat off to the fans who saw The Rolling Stones on the Steel Wheels Tour, in particular the date of 26 November 1989; Memorial Stadium; Clemson, South Carolina. Before Keith Richards performs 'Can't Be Seen' (see Flashpoint album song sequence), he tells the audience to 'cut out the crap'. That particular bit from Richards is worth the price of a ticket to

From this Robbie Robertson 2017 Rolling Stone tribute article on Chuck Berry here. "Through the years, I’ve had several classic rendezvous with the father of rock & roll. I was the original musical director and creative consultant for the Chuck Berry movie Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll. After a couple of meetings with Chuck, I realized that he didn’t like being structured or musically dir

I don't have a Top 100 favorite Stones tracks. I must say this is the greatest live version of 'Before They Make Me Run'. Keith flailing around and playing the guitar down to the ground puts the song in a genre itself called 'pirate rock'.

I stumbled upon this video below posted over five years ago on the Hard Rock YouTube channel. John 5 Plays 7 unbelievably iconic guitars from Hard Rock's vault. Beginning at the 2:55 mark, John 5 is noodling around on Brian Jones' Vox teardrop guitar. Later at the 5:12 mark, John 5 is playing the riff to 'The Last Time' on the guitar. On a side note, John 5 is pla

QuoteDGA35 Quotetreaclefingers I heard him pre-pandemic, I think 2019 last. FANTASTIC. Voice was still incredible. I'm sure Treacle saw him in Abbotsford, just outside of Vancouver. Seen him twice there, first time was a bit better because he had Kenny Aronoff on drums, who was Mellencamp's drummer back in the 80s. Puts on a great show, all hits! I saw John Fogerty on Sept 28, 2

I was listening to Devo's recorded cover of '(I Can’t Get Me No) Satisfaction', which is interesting and great. Devo is well known around the globe for their song 'Whip It'. I have to wonder though if Keith Richards and Steve Jordan got the idea for the X-Pensive Winos song title 'Whip It Up' from Devo.

Hello, I saw The Rolling Stones – Singles Collection: The London Years 3xCD compilation at a thrift store today. As I glanced at the catalog number on the back cover, it said 12 18-2. I realized that the 12 18 number is Keith Richards birthday (Dec 18). That was an interesting find for me today.

Here's something interesting to note. Darryl was part of two concert tour events, where each won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video-Long Form. Sting – Bring On The Night (1985) Madonna - Blond Ambition World Tour Live (1990) The irony is that The Stones never won any Grammy Awards when Bill Wyman was in the band. Quote24FPS As far as I can read on his Wiki page, Darryl NEVER played with a rock and roll band before Charlie picked him for the Stones. Think about that. Charlie added a slight jazz swing to the Stones. I still don't know what Darryl brings to the table. The 1985 Sting live album and film Bring On the Night are excellent. Darryl appears in the film as part of The Dream of the Blue Turtles touring band. Between 1985-1988 is the only period in Sting's solo career that he didn't play bass live. I'm not including The Police 1986 Amnesty International Conspiracy Of Hope concerts, where Sting played bass with the band.
