As I posted above, I saw Roger Waters’ This Is Not A Drill show in Glasgow on Friday night. He played new songs, piano ballads called The Bar, Part 1 and 2. Before playing the latter in the encore, he started to talk about Dylan and continued to do so for some length — he even mentioned Dylan’s real name, Robert Zimmerman. He greatly admired Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands, and openly acknowledged

Saw Roger Waters, OVO Hydro night #1, in Glasgow last night. True to form, highly artistic, impressive stage design and props. Adding to the flying pig, a staple of Waters’ show, this time we were treated to a flying sheep! What’s next? A flying Gilmour? Equally true to form, we were bombarded with the messages from the show host, many of which were political (predictably). I can’t go further i

Saw Bruce’s Edinburgh show yesterday. This is my sixth Bruce show since 1985, of which five are post-2012. Was it good? Yes. Did I enjoy it throughly without reservation from the bottom of my heart like I used to do at his previous concerts I attended? No, unfortunately. That BS bs surrounding the ticket sale fiasco/dynamic pricing controversy was tagging along behind my mind, disrupting t

Watching McLaughlin’s performance in person for the first time, backed by the trio of the Jeff Beck band, I thought they could do a “Jeff Beck tribute tour”. I really hope they will.

R.I.P. Ms Turner, a true legend. She is much missed. Some information about Tina and Japan: * She toured Japan five times — 1970, 72, 74 as Ike & Tina Turner, 85 and 88 as a solo artist (I saw the latter two in Osaka). * By 1988, she undoubtedly rose to a huge stardom in Japan. Her tour that year, which would turn out to be her last in the country, saw her performing three stadium shows

Quotealbop I attended to both concerts. You forget Derek Trucks who was absolutely fantastic and the others guitar players were great except the poor Ronnie who was just good the second night. The two gate crashers were Johnny Depp and Ron Wood. Ronnie made too much of a show. Eric Clapton seemed annoyed by his attitude on several occasions. Anyway I loved this two shows even if the second

Quotetatters Never got the full story as to why Ginger wasn't involved. They could have made it a full-fledged Blind Faith 40th anniversary tour with his participation. I'm guessing he wasn't invited, but why? Had his health deteriorated significantly in the four years since the Cream reunion shows, or did Eric and Steve just not want to be bothered dealing with his bull shit? In

Yes, there are a number of musicians who should have been there. Page, Hammer, Batten, Wilkenfeld, Tony Hymas, Simon Phillips to name a few. At the end of the day, though, it is what it is. Quotegotdablouse Wow, John McLaughlin is impressive indeed, only one who can get "close" to Beck, must try to catch him live. Totally agreed. Other highlights for me are Gary Clark Jr and his du

Got back from the RAH night #1. It was like a mini-English version of Crossroads Guitar Festival. Fantastic 3-hour event and some unusual song selection — a reggae version of Shapes Of Things by Clapton, anyone? Expensive, yes, but worth it. Ronnie played bass for Rice Pudding, saying, “back to the Jeff Beck Band.” I don’t think he said Jeff Beck “Group”.

Saw Across 24 Nights at the local cinema last night. Brilliant film — awe-inspiring performances, eye-catching visuals, impeccable sound, an absolute must-see for any Slowhand fans — even if you are turned away from the man due to his anti-lockdown/vaccine skeptic nonsense. Not only Clapton but also every other performer captured here is very focused on their role. This documentary has remind

QuoteStoneage ...If they had chosen to go out on top they should have stopped after the 1981/82 tour. They didn't, to the delight of many fans here and millions of concertgoers. But I would argue with anyone claiming they have been on top ever since. Okay let’s argue. …I’m joking. But seriously, the way I see things is, they have been on top from time to time even after 1982, if no

Now is the time to salvage this rather unrecognized thread I started a few months ago. I am posting gig reviews I procrastinated after my initial posts, somewhat disappointed by a rather sparse reaction to the thread. Will anyone post your firsthand account of a gig you attend and make this place a bit more interesting? I’d appreciate your contribution no matter what. I returned to Japan for

I am a big fan of Zeppelin. I was definitely more keen on them than the Stones when they were around in the Seventies. That being said, I can’t help but admit that the Stones beat Zep in the long run. Zep flew high in their heyday, higher than the Stones perhaps (or any other groups of their contemporaries), but their prime was too short. Their comparison reminds me of the story of “the rab

I saw the last two thirds, entry 10 Sweden (this year’s winner) onwards. To my surprise I quite enjoyed it, including all that cheesiness that was unmistakably Eurovision, due to setting the bar low perhaps. I liked the Israeli singer and her team in particular — the singing and dancing were every bit stunning and they hooked me during the whole performance.
