Caught Eric live at the Budokan last night, his first public performance as an octogenarian — Slowhand at 80. The show started with White Room with new introduction as was Sunshine Of Your Love that came on the fourth slot of the set. Through the night, his play was very strong, inspired and focused.

According to insider information, Eric & his team are scheduled to arrive in Japan on April 6, eight days prior to the 14th, the first night they kickstart the Budokan residency that offers 8 concerts until the 27th. True to tradition, he seems to prefer rehearsing in Japan to his home land as well as enjoying the cherry blossoms.

I leave GLS’s response as that. Don’t think he is opposed to all of the points I made in my post. Here is some food for thought. Another record of the 1973 release I didn’t get on its initial listen is Houses Of The Holy by Led Zeppelin. Many may have felt it as esoteric, unfocused or disjointed an album as GHS. The difference for me, however, is that after repeated listens, HOTH grew on me —

To go further along the point, I rate the North American Tour ‘72 and the Pacific/Winter Tour ‘73 higher than Europe ‘73 on account of the former couple being behind EOMS as opposed to the latter, GHS. All of them are brilliant performance-wise but the former are better in terms of song selections. Wish Budokan ‘73 had happened as planned on the Pacific tour — alas, it wasn’t to be. Blame the

QuoteBig Al I would imagine that most would rate it somewhat more highly than its follow-up, It’s Only Rock n’ Roll, though. Now, that really was a step down. I belong to the minority then — I rate IORR higher than GHS. It’s a return to form if a little bit slick, and offers Time Waits For No One, a bona fide moment and crowning glory for the Taylor-era Stones.

A throwaway comment without reading the bulk of the posts upthread. Sorry if this is coming out of context. GHS — an album that doesn’t do much for me. It is a reminder that everything the Stones did in the Miller/Taylor era is not gold. It is too esoteric to deliver the goods, too unfocused or disjointed to bear cohesiveness although some may claim therein lies the album’s charm. The only

I will be there. The first announcement of the line-up is good enough if a mixed bag (as is always the case). And plenty will be added hereafter. And, after all, Glasto is more about how many, how much you miss rather than you catch. There are already enough good acts I hope to see. I will definitely catch Neil playing on the glorious Pyramid on Saturday.

New York Dolls were an embodiment of rock ‘n’ roll as dangerous art. I don’t embrace the ethos without reservation, but understand why many people are drawn to that. I saw the post-Thunders/Nolan reincarnation of the Dolls at the World Rock Festival Eastland, a touring event that visited five cities in Japan in Summer 1975, featuring Jeff Beck as the headliner. I enjoyed their short festive se

Saw Macca for the first time in 2002, two consecutive nights in Osaka. His voice was top-notch, hitting the high notes effortlessly. Then I saw him in the UK in 2009, 2011 (twice), 2015 (twice) and 2018. Through these years, his voice had been gradually declining, little by little, but it didn’t bother me that much while the show was on. Macca’s vocal performance was still strong enough to keep

From Jack White’s Instagram page: "Been hearing a lot of chatter throughout the year of this glorious electric touring about how long our sets are "supposed to be" on stage. As if the length of a show determines how "good" it is. I know that we're living in a current era where people like to say "so and so played for 3 hours last night!", and brag about

I saw it this afternoon and enjoyed it. Not much we haven’t already known but that was predictable. Good narrative carries away the viewer for two hours. I’m afraid this thread will be merged with the Led Zeppelin stuff thread sooner or later.

Quoteslewan Bob Dylan has announced a 20 shows spring tour kicking of in late March and running until late April => So The Rough And Rowdy Way World Wide Tour continues beyond the originally given time span, “2021-2024”? That is, Never Ending Tour under a different moniker. By the way, did you watch A Complete Unknown, slewan?

Edinburgh! That’s handy for me. And the only UK date for this tour season. I’m no more than a casual fan but I caught them live twice in Osaka, in 2001 (arena) and 2010 (dome, space half used. I ditched Bob Dylan’s fifth and final Osaka show on the tour for this), and throughly enjoyed both occasions, loved every minute of them. However… Quotestrat72 I went to see them with Axl Rose and it

Quotegotdablouse Now the good news is that with the Grammy he's likely going to be highly motivated to finish off the "75%" (or "2/3" depending on which interview he gave) finished follow-up to HD. It would have been a bit "silly" to "tour" HD in Europe nearly 2 years after it was released. Now they can tour 2 albums, like at the time of TY ! …or Mic

Two Budokan shows, 26 and 27 April, have been added now, making Eric’s 2025 residency at the venue 8 nights. The number of his Budokan concerts will be 110. His guest appearance at Santana concert in 2000 included, he will have taken the Budokan stage 111 nights in total. Quite an achievement.
