The Stanley Owsley Foundation has the Oakland ‘69 2nd show. Excerpts were played on KSAN’s “Bill Graham Weekend” in October ‘72. It had a number of problems: a 60Hz line hum, excessive hiss and, most curiously, the tape speed changed every few songs. “Bob & Betty”, of Dead taping fame, have the complete Altamont recording.

A couple of things to consider: the tape was played back over the PA speakers and then excerpts were picked up by the BBC reporter. The 5” reel-to-reel at 3&3/4 ips would’ve only held the first 45.5 to 48 minutes of what is described as nearly an hour long set.

The complete second show is in the Augustus Stanley Owlsley archives. It is hissy and has a bad 60hz hum caused by proximity to a power cable during the original recording. KSAN only broadcast what he permitted, and on top of that, the pitch on KSAN’s copy varied, usuasually after every commercial.

Unfortunately, they’re without the hype stickers. They both have clean punch out holes, on the bottom left when seen from the front. And they both have exactly the same price stickers !
