I think it's good that they dropped some of the warhorses. Midnight Rambler isn't really a very known tune to the general public and the die-hards always compare it to their favorite version. So, not much to loose dropping this one. (I think the decision that they dropped IORR a few tours ago was much more surprising) I'd love to see SFM being in rotation with Paint it Black. An

Keith actually revived the Gimme Shelter intro on the 2021 tour by playing it in the position he had used on the Winos Tour, for example. He did it sitting down at most shows, if I recall right, really concetrating on nailing it. Some nights it was so good, I thought it was prerecorded. On the 2022 tour he let it fade again a bit. So it's a good sign that they rehearse it properly!

Our band "Kalpetrane" has just released a new single today. It's called Disco! Here's a live video of us playing the tune. The only Stones connection is that I'm playing a Gibson L-5S, like the one Keith and Ronnie used at the end of the 80's. It's one of the best guitars I've ever played! Hope you some of you enjoy it

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteSpud That sums up the problem... ...in the modern sanitised musical world, you just couldn't get away with Exile on Main Street. A great shame...but there it is. The pendulum has swung massively in one direction and will return the other way when people look for something "new". "A great shame ... but there it is." No, that

It actually would have been funny if the three of them acted in the video or if they showed an overblown serious fight between Mick and Keith in a funny way!

Quotekeefriffhards Quotebobo Quotekeefriffhards Reflecting on this album, played it in my car for a couple weeks until i put something else in the CD player, it's a good album but i doubt i will go back to it very often as it's not what i consider a Stones album. That's not saying it's not good, just saying if i wanted that sound I'd listen to it from another band, as

Quoteliddas QuoteMonkeyMan2000 And in Angry it's especially noticable, and IMO badly done, as we all know how Mick actually sounds. His voice is still so powerful and probably more "in tune" than ever, as can be heard on the less processed vocals on Get Close and alike. I think it was supposed to be as it is. It is not a fix. The artistic decision is to have a contrast between th

Am I the only one who finds it weirdly insulting that they just didn't care which guitarist place what when they inserted the studio parts onto the live tracks? The thought of Keith playing those ascending octave-lines in the chorus hahahah That's never happened on other overdubbed live albums, has it?

Quoteharlem shuffle Well MonkeyMan2000 the same happens with younger artist in the twentys and thirties.Lots of these top artist have used it for years,so if the Stones use some of it in their eighties it,s not so strange That's why I wrote that I don't find it a bad thing per se! I belong to the young generation of musicians myself and have used autotune in the studio with my band. I

We're probably not talking about the same thing, Gas Light. Yes, LIAGT uses a vocoder effect on the backing vocals in the bridge (and autotuned pitch correction on the lead line). On Angry, there's no vocoder! We have the heavy processed layers of backing vocals in the chorus, which may sound something like a vocoder because they have been edited, consonant-aligned and pitch corrected

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteMonkeyMan2000 QuoteGasLightStreet There's a bit of "vocoder" in Living In A Ghost Town (it's got a specific name I can't recall at the moment, it's somewhere in that song's thread). As much as I would like to see them again in Europe, I'd feel so bad for the other parts of the world like OZ/NZ and especially South- and Middle-America. It just sadly doesn't seem likely that they'd tour SA under the current circumstance, first and foremost the situation in Argentina. Maybe if they lowered the guarantee they're asking for per night, it would be possible...

QuoteBig Al QuoteStonedRambler QuoteBig Al QuoteGasLightStreet Gen Z will probably end up being closer to Gen X in the long run. I don't think there's a need to spell that out other than they'll be into music and, well, we piss anywhere, man. What? The sober, vegan generation, that is 'Generation Z'? No, I think its the worst generation since records began. I shudder

The internet really has robbed people of the ability to handle criticism. I'd still spend a lot of money on Stones tickets if they came to Europe, I enjoyed Hackney Diamonds more than I expected and still love the guys. But it's mostly nostalgia - which I enjoy and it's what I pay for. I mean - it's my all time favorite band! But I think Damon is right with everything h

What I find most remarkable about Ronnie and what has given me a lot of joy listening to him, is that his playing sounds very much like his persona, what he behaves like and what he speaks like. Despite people who claim otherwise, his playing is very distinct. While others might be technically a lot better, more melodiuos or virtuosic, if there's one guitarist to whom the guitar is an extent

I wonder if they would have been there in person to play a song, if the album sold less well in Germany? But it seems like they didn't really take it seriously when they recorded the video hahah. The gesture Keith makes when Ronnie says they "sadly" couldn't be there had me in stitches!

Funny, it just occured to me that this riff is sort of the minor version of the acoustic guitar riff at the end of "Trouble". And I think there are other songs where Keith plays a similar riff in his later years. The opening lick in the bass line to "Angry" is not far away from it either.

Quoteslew It's a fabulous song. I don't understand some of the dislike by some. IMO, it's just too much of everything to be honest. I like the intention, the groove, the instrumentation, etc. But everyone (except Keith maybe) playing and singing on full blast combined with the overcompression which leads to even more boominess of the drums just make it very tiresome. I probably sound like a broken record, but I don't really like the chorus. I find it quite lazy with that chord sequence. But the verses and that riff are indeed killer. And it is a pleasure to see Keith firing on all cylinders when he played the riff at the Racket show. Always great when he digs their new tunes on stage!

Yeah, I get that. I also like CH and think he's had great input in Hackney Diamonds, more than some give him credit for. I tried to explain how a creative well can run dry without new input, but I didn't mean it in a negative sense at all, because I like most of the songs he writes and of course love the style.
