Great choices Bastion! I especially love Nicolas Jaar's and Thundercat's new ones. My only concert this year was Nicolas Jaar at the Tones on the Stones festival where he played a beautiful piece together with a cellist. One of my favorite albums this year would also have to be Gorillaz' Song Machine.

Yeah there's many interesting ones, All About You or Sleep Tonight... Sweet Virginia is weird too, because that B7 resolves so flawlessly to the A. But I guess that's a country thing and can be explained by looking at the B7 as a secondary dominant which would lead to an E chord which would than lead back to A, but in Sweet Virginia the E chord is just omitted in that part. I guess

Waiting On A Friend Hampton 1981 and Miss You Studio Now the worst: For me it's the released version of Think I'm Going Mad. Wayyy over the top kitsch. That fast minor pentatonic run somewhere in the middle...horrible. I much prefer the subtle sax that's playing the riff on the bootleg version with Keith's vocals.

QuoteMelBelli Hey MonkeyMan2000, Here’s a look (not by me) of the Andalusian Cadence. Context is Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.” Of course, all I can hear now is “Struggle”! That is great! I love that channel. I think the great thing with Struggle is that the cadence is used so sparsely, that makes it even more spicy. If you like that kind of stuff you might like Paco Ce

Here's our band doing Jimmy Reed's Bright Lights, Big City - recorded during the lockdown in May when we spent a week in a Chalet playing music. It's not to be taken too seriously I tried to do my best impression of Keith playing Blues post 2012 ;-)

One of my favorite moments in Stones history, could have gone on forever. One can only dream what Think I'm Going Mad could have sounded like with that line-up (especially Ernie).

Another thought: It seems that these other kind of iconic Stones songs like Beast Of Burden, No Use In Crying or Think I'm Going Mad were released after Ronnie arrived. Maybe he was more influential for Mick and Keith than we think? Because even when I can not really define what makes these songs iconic Stones tunes as a whole, some of the elements I find in those tracks are very much presen

Working in restaurants during summer to scrap the money together, planning the journeys, the stress of getting the right tickets...and then finally being able to go to the shows and meet people like you from all over the world who share the same passion. I’m not saying that Mick doesn‘t try to be current in general. Specifically this song has a typical blues boogie guitar and is totally guitar based in general, so nothing like current pop music, if that‘s even a homogeneous group. The problem might be the production here, because here Mick really tries to be current. But I don‘t think it‘s a bad thing when you try to keep up with trends bec

When I think of the Stones using power chords, mostly the era between 78 and 89 comes to my mind. In these days Ronnie also played a lot of power chords. Also Keith's solo records are full of guitars just playing the root and the fifth, especially when he is layering many guitars. And much of the time when Keith's playing in Open G he only really hits the lowest two or 3 strings (G and

QuoteGS1978 QuoteMonkeyMan2000 Doesn‘t Keith seem extremely sharp for his age? I couldn‘t have come up with that Putin line if I were given an hour to think about the answer... Keith's a very intelligent guy. His image and habits really distorted that for years. And the head injury didn't help. But, yes, for his age and history, it's amazing that he is still so sharp and wit

What else should they do? Release it on VHS in 2020? There's a lot of people who have never bought this show on bootleg and they want to buy it now officially. It is made clear that it's a SD Blu Ray. Personally, I think the picture quality is great.

It‘s a lot of fun to watch Keith playing these long solos running around and posing and I think it fits the style of the tour and the late 80s in general. But listening to it without the video I think this style is a lot less enjoyable than the second half of the 90s. Keith for me is about playing the right notes with style and taste and he went back to that around 95. So I wouldn‘t say that the
