QuoteSomeTorontoGirl I remember looking at some albums one day and, on the back of one of my Dan Hill albums (don’t judge me!) the address for Bernie Finkelstein’s management company (who also managed Bruce Cockburn and others, and ran True North Records) was literally the unit beside me. I took it next door to show my neighbour Maureen and we had a laugh. haha amazing! As a fellow Torontonian,

QuoteSomeTorontoGirl The apartment was 50 Alexander St - the round white building. Yep. I believe that was where Bob Dylan paid him a visit which turned into a bit of an awkward occasion for him. I don't remember the specifics. Something about the two of them sitting awkwardly in silence or something. It was in the excellent book about Gordon Lightfoot by Nicholas Jennings. Highly recommende

QuoteKevinPenthouse I beleive he lived next door to Keiths former house in Toronto . .and possibly back as far as the Toronto debacle time period Keith had a house in Toronto? edit: I suppose he stayed in one when they were here rehearsing. I'm curious where they were. Off the top of my head, the places I know Lightfoot lived in Toronto were an apartment building near Maple Leafs Gard

Apart from the popular songs everyone knows, Lightfoot had a deep catalogue of songs that were equally fantastic. Steel Rail Blues, Bend In The Water, Did She Mention My Name, Cobwebs & Dust, and so many more! He will be sorely missed here in Canada and everywhere. RIP Gordon Lightfoot, thank you for your music.

I love The Stones, but I could care less what Keith Richards thinks about other artists. That doesn't affect my like or dislike for any particular artist.

Quotelem motlow This is a pretty good post, you’re learning some things. though It does come off as a little bit Lem Motlow lite, you tried the feigned indifference and the sarcasm but you seem a bit too emotionally involved to really score the point. Things like deep hatred and such don’t really apply here. Read Doxa’s posts and you’ll get more of an idea what’s happening, think of an argum

Of course music is subjective, you like what you like. That's the beautiful thing about art. But to hate a band so passionately, to the point where you spend years detailing exactly why you hate them and why people that love them are wrong and retards, I don't understand what the point is (other than to be a troll on the internet to feel some sort of self-worth). If Paul McCartney ran o

I could ask the same question- you mental patients posted 198 pages about your favorite band on a completely different groups fansite. That’s not weird at all. You’re lucky this isn’t the Led Zeppeli

As great as Get Back was, it showed them writing and recording when they were in their back to basics laid back phase. I would kill for a similar style documentary but to witness them create their more complex music. Imagine footage like that during the Tomorrow Never Knows sessions, for example? Goddamn!

Quotelem motlow This idiotic idea shows a complete lack of understanding of each band. Relax, I'm pretty sure the meme was made as a joke. Quotelem motlow The Beatles were a pop group that played some rock music, they have a certain goofy factor about them. They lack an attitude that great rock and roll bands possess. “I think that Andrew very much liked to contrive the danger because he s

None of us know exactly what is going on with their private life. Some of us like to think we know them but we don't. For all we know, Keith could be farting on stage the whole time. Maybe Ron always groans when getting up from a chair. We just don't know. They're not superhuman. How they are on stage shouldn't be an indication as to how they are in private.

Quotebakersfield I don't understand the Red Hot Chilli Peppers appeal. It might be the way that they record - I can hear the instruments but i can't hear the room. Consequently it sounds lifeless to me....I don't hear songs, just jams with words on top... and the guy doesn't have a very strong singing voice. Sorry don't get it. No offense but that's a weird thing to

Love 'em or hate 'em you've got to respect the fact that the Peppers have been out there doing their thing since their first album in 1984. They haven't broken up for 15 years or whatever only to reunite to play their hits. They've been consistently on the scene for a long ass time and they're still putting out new music AND still packing stadiums all over the world.

Good on Neil and Joni and others that are pulling their music from Spotify, but the unfortunate thing is if Spotify offered them, let's say, 2 dollars per stream instead of 0.0001 cents or whatever it is then they would probably come back in a heart beat.

QuoteCindyC The talent of John, Paul, and George is unmistakeable and awe-inspriring. I often felt badly for Ringo as he often had a look on his face as if he were in over his head, and was going to be discovered as a fraud at any time. What? A fraud? Are you kidding? Ringo was an awesome drummer in The Beatles and beyond. His playing in the documentary and on Let It Be is fantastic. I think you

It's so silly when Stones fans dismiss The Beatles as just being a boring generic pop band and not rock and roll. The Beatles had more than a years worth of concerts under their belt before Mick and Keith even met. And those were rock and roll concerts. They were poppin' pills and kicking ass. By the time The Stones started recording The Beatles were already way ahead in the game. And I
