QuoteVoodooLounge13 QuoteJMARCOU A long time ago I noticed that rehearsed songs are much more appealing than songs performed on stage. I tend to agree with this. They rehearse a ton from their catalog, but when it comes to the real thing, it's puuuuuuuuuuuuuuure safety net. For me, all but a few warhorses can be retired and rotated out at this point. Break out new and different tracks

Quotetommycharles When Pino left the Who in 2015 it was to retire from the road, and he’s more or less stuck to that as far as I know. Cool that he stopped by the Stones rehearsal. Not true. Pino played with the Who until 2016. In 2017 he was already booked for a world tour with John Mayer so they had to find someone else. Pino is not like Darryl who works almost exclusively for the Stones

It's not about the stage itself like it used to be. It's about having screens as large as possible and having good content for the video show.

The purpose of "Not fade away" was never to pump up the audience. Its purpose was to create tension. The tension was then released with "Tumbling Dice".

Honestly - for IORR I actually think the 2009 Universal master is the best. Yes it's a bit on Viagra and has less dynamics but doesn't sound as dull and lifeless as other releases. It's probably the only album in the Stones catalogue that I prefer the Universal master. Give it a try.

I actually think the mix is quite good this time compared to other releases. Not perfect but good. The guitars are a bit loud but maybe they just listened to all the folks here always complaining that the guitars are too quiet. I like it but gotta admit it brings out the sloppiness in the guitar section. Especially Keith is noodling around a lot.

QuoteIrix QuoteStonedRambler Yeah but those special formats do not really play a role in the general public. Vinyl is a special format and doesn't really play a role in the general public? It does play some role of course (especially in sales since it is counted 1000x streams) but still the brickwalled Stereo mix is the one the vast majority of people will listen to.

The latter are far better, sound-wise. Yeah but those special formats do not really play a role in the general public. I bet Mick didn't even listen to those. The format that 90%

QuoteIrix Peter Gabriel's new i/o album has just a dynamic range of DR5-9. It was mastered by Matt Colton - he also did the loud DR5-7 mastering for 'Hackney Diamonds' (CD, Digital & HiRes). But 'Hackney Diamonds' mixing/mastering for Dolby Atmos was done by Giles Martin. Yeah but it also doesn't really sound like a modern album from 2023. Could have as wel

QuoteIrix QuoteStonedRambler It's 2024 and music does get compressed and brickwalled nowadays. No, that's not generally true. For instance, Giles Martin or Steven Wilson do not brickwalled masterings. True, but they (Giles Martin etc.) do not aim for a contemporary sound. Mick Jagger's wish for Hackney Diamonds was that it sounds like an album made in 2023. Therefore Serba

With the "mini-tours" in recent years stage design always was a compromise between being economy and design. I can imagine if the HD tour is a bit bigger then we also might get a more special stage than on the Sixty tour.

Quotebakersfield Aren't single 'releases' just ploys to get radio stations playing the songs and thus keep the album afloat? I can't see any point in a physical single release without bonus tracks. These days that's how it is, yes.
