Quotedcba Quotewoodyweaving The more I read about him, the more I develop the sense that aside from his heroin (and apparent alcohol/coke/weed use) Keith played up his image a bit but so did far more people around him than he himself. This established his mythos. Remember that on the 81 tour Keith acted as a drug counselor for Ronnie, as he forbade him to freebase coke. That did not work t

Quotedcba Quotegotdablouse Keith rolling his own at 7:40 ;-) Check the vids of Ronnie with Bobby Womack then... much more reprehensible behaviour there. Which makes me think... apart from the heavy heroin years (76-77) it seems that Keith took much less illicit stuff than people around him. The more I read about him, the more I develop the sense that aside from his heroin (and apparent

I'm glad that you (and others) have expressed similar opinions like this as I feel the same way. I'm a Bowie fan too and I've always appreciated how his son Duncan has protected his legacy and to the best of my knowledge not allowed his father's music to be licensed for these sorts of things.

I actually started listening to Dance Little Sister with headphones recently. I never used to like the track, but now I love it. MT is on fire and I thought the band performed well on the track. Each to their own though.

QuoteGasLightStreet Ronnie established his Stonesism between the 1978 and 1983 albums in terms of what he does/offers, with some magical playing on each album. After that, not much. He had some excellent playing on STEEL WHEELS but since then has essentially been reduced to not much - until HACKNEY DIAMONDS. I've always felt like Ron gets the short end of the stock in some regards.

For my taste, the first barbarians gig to promote Ronnie's first solo album was superior. Better performance, good recording quality. Plus, there is video on youtube too.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotewoodyweaving Thanks! I thought Ronnie might have come close with some DW credits but nobody outside the band for sure. I'm not the greatest Stones historian though so wasn't really certain. Chuck Leavell got a credit for Back To Zero Hahaha, some might say that was like a wish from a monkey's finger! I know it's unpopular, but I have a sof

I noticed yesterday when I checked out the wikipedia page for the album that three tracks have been credited to Jagger-Richards-Watt. The tracks are angry, get close and depending on you. I can't recall another person getting that many writing credits and also playing on the album. Does anyone know if there has been a precedent like that before?

Does anyone else feel as though they prefer Mick's voice/vocals without effects (not sure what to call them, feel free to correct) but instead just a clean, unaltered take? After first listen, only two tracks have grabbed me: tell me straight and driving me too hard. Regardless, always good to see them releasing new music. Nothing stays the same forever.

Someone else might recall better than I do but I remember seeing Mick Jagger saying (jokingly in exasperation) something to the effect of "hand of fate with all it's words" in regards to performing it live.

I've listened to the one with Rod Stewart and that was a really fun listen. You can see why they made such great music together.

Sorry for the long delay - I had not been online in quite some time and this post had disappeared. I can't recall the name of the boot but I have the track on my phone still. If you are curious I can see if I can find a way to set up a dropbox or something with it available to download? Also, if someone knows the name of the boot it also had ronnie wood doing an early version of bobby womac

It's a great album and it's a shame it wasn't more greatly recognised by the public. The song that appeared on now look "Breathe on Me" I believe was also from these sessions but couldn't fit on the album. It would have made another great addition IMO.

I actually like the version from the stones studio outtakes better. It's a bit less produced but feels like it has more groove.

The thing I enjoy about Ronnie's playing (and I think when given the opportunity he is a great player) is that even if you think he isn't the most "technically" gifted player (whatever that means) is that it had soul or feeling behind it. There are too many players that seem to have the impression that playing a million notes constitutes great playing but it's not wha
