I thought they would have started a temporary residency thing to help ease the stress of touring. Four nights in London over the course of two weeks, something like that. I think the new album will come out sometime March through May. I do wonder how much advance notice we will all get though? If they take a page from McCartney 3 and invent some cool physical packaging options, I think they wo

I'm thinking a lot about this movie and trying to understand exactly why it didn't work for me. On one hand it is a great collection of historical material. On the other hand it doesn't work as straight up musical entertainment. All the repetition robs the songs of their impact that they would have had if you had only heard the finished songs once. The Parthenon or whatever a

Probably pretty low odds of hearing it live again. It didn't set the world on fire and the time for promoting Tattoo You Deluxe has probably passed. Hopefully the first single from the new album will be out before any next round of shows and that will take the #4 or #5 spot on the setlist!

Pump It Up has always been one of my favorite rock songs. It has such an intense beat. I didn't notice any similarity between the two songs, other than the driving beat.

I finished Part 3 just now. I think there's too much repetition in the music overall. We hear these songs many times as they are being written and then rehearsed. Often we get to see the Beatles go into the control room and listen to the playback. By the end of the movie it was hard for me to really get into the music because it felt like I had just heard these songs a dozen times. The fi

I just finished watching Part Two. I enjoy the film, but I can understand why it wouldn't be for everyone. There is a lot of repetition, as songs are being written and rehearsed. There's also a lot of goofing around as they play old songs and covers, often in an irreverent way. That's enjoyable if you think of it as less of a formal performance as more like just hanging out with fr

I just finished watching Part One. It's very good. It's like being a fly on the wall. If you've seen Let It Be, you basically know what to expect. There's some framing devices, but otherwise it's similar. Songwriting is not really a cinematic subject, so I don't know if kids would really be into it, unless they are aspiring songwriters. It was fascinating to watch

QuoteCaptainCorella QuoteIrix Quotejahisnotdead It seems the first "episode" of the three part documentary "Get Back" will be available to stream in the U.S. at 12 midnight Pacific Time tomorrow morning. I'm not sure about countries outside the USA. Should be the same: available to stream from 0:00 / 12:00am / Midnight local timezone of your country - like with new

I hope they'll know when it's the end, and be able to recognize it when it is. If they want to keep playing and people want to see them play, that's their business. Personally, I think it would be sad to see one of the Stones look like the way Phil Collins looks now. I understand Phil has a financial situation that makes doing shows necessary, so no judgement on him. But I still wo

Yes, that was excellent. You can tell that everyone is totally focused. The bridge seemed flawless. And Steve does do a great job, really driving it with a steady beat. He's locked in and when he and Mick are in sync "flatter, flatter flatter" it sounds right on.

QuoteStoneage You're right, Dutch. Agneta did a lot of songwriting before and after ABBA though. I guess I meant input. They should have been more involved in the making of the album. But you're right, Benny makes the songs and Björn puts words to them. He seems to have forgotten how to make catchy pop songs though. It's a double edged sword, isn't it? They're usually

I finally listened to the new Abba album "Voyage" last night. I liked it, though it wasn't what I was expecting. I understand the mixed reviews. It's not really a party/dance record, and it doesn't compare to a Greatest Hits collection (but should anyone expect it to?) Even the more upbeat songs have a bit of a dark edge to them. To me the darker songs were weird and i

QuoteRockman Love ta hear 'em do some Stones studio stuff with Steve Jordan .... I would too. I'd really like to know what caused the shift against releasing records on a regular basis. Now comets come around more often than Rolling Stones studio albums, so the chances we will hear more than a track or two with Steve are remote to say the least.

I think it's been 10 shows for me, starting in 1989 and counting the one where I had to stand outside th stadium to listen (ticket snafu). I think the best one was probably Bridges To Babylon in Atlanta. I have gone memories of that show.

I'm sorry to miss the show. I feel awful about it. It would have been a blast to meet up with fans from iorr again. The shows have been so good this leg of the tour, it's a shame to miss seeing my favorite band in my hometown. Especially since each time could be the last. I've seen every Atlanta show since 1989! I still can't believe I'm missing this one. But... I'

Someday there will be a sticky here that says "New Stones Album" and there won't be a question mark at the end. And it will be glorious. The day the new record is announced, it will be such a huge rush. Finding out the title, seeing the cover, seeing the track listing, hearing the first single... And the day the whole record becomes available for listening will be so exciting. I
