I think the argument that if the venues are full, then there is no problem at all, is too simplistic. It's a sign of the increasing inequality in societies. The middle classes are being pushed out of being able to afford a lifestyle they had some years ago. And concerts are of course dispensable. People struggle for private health, private education with the deterioration of public servic

Until recently it was the tour I was most looking forward to in Europe. Now I just can’t consider the possibility of attending a show. It’s a shame, but there are red lines that have been crossed I cannot accept. Artists are free to have their views, and the fans are free to choose wether to go see them or not.

And since we are all guessing, I think it was a matter of a positive PCR test that came late in Amsterdam, when everything was set to go, and the show had to be cancelled at that moment. Imagine to have to tell everybody that Mick just tested positive, had no symptoms at all, but even so the show had to be cancelled... Probably people wouldn't react so well.

How the doctors can assure Mick will be ok for Milan in a week is something I don't get. That would be plausible if he was asymptomatic (and a positive test would mean Bern postponing for isolation reasons). But having symptoms (and how did he notice them during soundcheck? Throat/respiration issues?), no doctor could declare with certainty he would be fit for a show in 7 days. Somethi

Sign of the times, where the only revenue for artists is performing live (or online). Download/streaming revenues are not enough to make a living. It's not about this being wrong or right. It's about the mistique of the artist that is lost in the middle of the crowd, the creator that comes down to mix among others that are not as gifted as him. Of course these are people like us, who

I was born in 79 and remember well when "We all stand together" came out in the 80s. It was a huge hit in Portugal (and in many countries, I believe). We just stood marvelled in front of the TV watching the frog choir. It was magical. Nowadays I have a 5 year old son and play to him several Mcartney's (and Wings) songs, especially Mull of Kintyre, Band on the Run, Hope of Delive

I think we should look at the band primarily as a business, whose main product is the incredible live shows that keep people coming back over and over, for top prices. In between some releases that help the revenue and keep the interest alive. It's a brand. In a family run business, I don't think customers expect if one of the founding members is deceased, that the business should cl

Today is a very sad day, as Daft Punk announced breaking up. I followed them since my teenage years to this day, and for me in these last decades no band achieved such an iconic status, such an aura of greatness. At some point, it felt like everything Daft Punk touched - in collaboration with other artists- it turned to gold. They leave us the same way they were with us throughout the y

QuoteLynd8 is it worth 2 Billion dollars to find out? We have kids not getting enough food in many states, infrastructure is falling apart everywhere. I grew up in the 60s and was fascinated by our landing on the moon and very proud of our country and accomplishments, but we have much bigger problems right now then determining what the hell is going on at Mars. I think it's worth a lot m

Love to watch his interviews on YT. Nowadays artists have their PR teams, taking care of social media, making sure all is very nice and politically correct, aligned with the 'causes' of the world, that change from day to day. FZ was the opposite of that. It's clear he was an intelligent person, with taste and a critic view, and had no problem in standing for what he believed

I agree the idea is silly, but I think the creation of a RS brand helped the band keep fresh and appealing to the younger generations. It's cool to wear shirts with the tongue logo, even if people don't even know where it comes from. The brand will continue to exist after the band is done, and if managed wisely, it can still honor the past, bring new fans and bring revenue. It will b

I think the question is, what's the best American rock band of all time - to whom? From the suggested names I see bands that are/were great to american people, but maybe not so much in other geographies. If the question implies some sort of universality, then the answer must take it into account. With that said, my vote goes to the Doors.

Watched the whole video, enjoyed it a lot. Jagger is the man. Not many artists that came from the 60s and 70s adapted so well to the 80s style and visuals. I can only think of Bowie, who was also huge in the 80s, and maybe a few others. I dare to say, had the stones finished by then, Mick could have followed this way, and fill stadiums for the years to come. For the average concert goer, Mick
