ALO (had) made a cover of The Last Time (even though hardly anyone would recognise The Last Time in the ALO cover): The Verve sampled it (to be clear: they could have re-recorded drums, strings, chruch bells etc, but used the original ALO recording), negotiated clearance, used quite a lot more than agreed, melody, chords & rhythm: ALO sold / licensed his masters to ABKCO when he

I've never seen any pictures from Ronnie recording @ B.B.C. Studios Baambrugge (not British Broadcasting Company). He recorded my favourite song of his 'I Got Lost When I Found You' there. The Beach Boys redid the studio and recorded Holland there with Blondie present. Would love to see pictures, if there are any! Anyone?

Guys, This is something I find a lot of musicians around me disagree on, but I really like to think my "1" is the one. On Hate It When You Leave off Main Offender, my feeling is that if one chord is one bar, the bass drum is on the 1 and the 3 (5th eighth) and the snare drums are on the 2nd, 4th 6th and 8th eight note. (which means the introfill starts on the 2-uh, not the 3).

Maybe not a major act, but this one is interesting: Emitt Rhodes 43 years between studio albums.

Watching back yesterday's Midnight Rambler on Youtube, it's very funny to see it from this angle. There's quite some missed cues here and there... Charlie tries to dig in to Mick's vibe during the Ee-yo-yo-yo-part, but it doesn't gel. Keith goes to the A-chord one bar early at some point, and Darryl gets him back in. But the nice thing is: it's all do

Other notable things: - Keith thanked Mick after the band introductions - Mick played Charlies cymbals again, like on Wednesday - She's So Cold seem to go on longer than usual, Mick was very into it, leading the whole band - God bless their sound guy, Dave Natale. I can understand the sound in these places being difficult in different spots, but I was in the line of fire of the speaker

Took my wife to the Stones for first time tonight. She loved it. Which is good, because I needed to make up for some mistakes along the way... I thought everybody put in a strong performance tonight. I'm a musician myself and I have been critical at times, but this was a wonderful show IMO. Sound was GREAT in the pit. Stood next to Keith's extended family. So nice to see his ch

After celebrating in Arnhem with my dad, I'd like to bring my wife to see them in Paris. Anybody have two spares for the 25th?

My first show this leg. I had a great spot in the pit. Thought it was a very strong show. Lots of spontaneity. I am a 'honest' fan, but I was really impressed by the way Keith played tonight. I have to say, YouTube vids are not a good way to check performances. I was actually a little bit hesitant about going, but the gig exceeded my expectations. Great to see the camaraderie betwee

Watched some videos. Dudes are old, but played real well in general! I thought it was touching how they covered for each other now and again. For instance when first Charlie and then Mick lost track in Mr D. The band saved them. Listen to Bernard saving Mick graciously at the end when he skip half a bar.

The parking onsite will work. It's only 5 euros. Otherwise you can use Parking Centre and walk a little bit.

Went to this exposition yesterday at LUMA in Arles in the south of France. There are a lot of pictures of the Stones '72 and '75 tours and the rehearsals before the tours. Quite a lot unseen pictures too, especially from Montauk, the 72 rehearsals and the Stones and posse offstage. Worth going! The exhibition is on until September 24th. Tickets are only 7 euros and it wasn't

I loved it. The director deserves a lot of praise, IMO. Great shots. Got such honest quotes out of the guys. I enjoyed every minute of it.

This will be very good. IDFA, a great film festival in Amsterdam, Holland, will be showing Olé, Olé, Olé in Carré, one of the most beautiful theatres in Europe on Saturday November 19th. And there will be live music before the film to get everybody in the mood. Should be a good reason to visit Amsterdam!

Love the quick runs on I Got Lost When I Found You (from Now Look). He elevates Crazy Mama with those jangly notes, just when you thought they had reached all the song's potential. Latter day; solos on Don't Stop (studio, not live) are great!

Great vocals by Jagger too! Very cool. Very ballsy. Not the nasally, whining tone, but fat, convincing vocals.

I have to admit; his timing was right on, and maybe it was because it was the loudest instrument during Pain It Black, but it has to go! I mean, why? Honestly, why? Why, why, why? The guero in Gimme Shelter, the cowbell in HTW, the shakers in Brown Sugar etc, I love their use of percussion on stage. But with the triangle, I nearly fell out of my seat laughing!

I have to praise the director. We've seen a lot of concert films from our favorite band, but this guy managed to get amazing shots! Loved the interviews and the hilarious the anecdotes at the beginning. Charlie the comedian! Someone really pushed the right buttons and got lots of great quotes out of the guys. Loved that they were able to see the importance of humour. You don't stay toge

A band is a strange thing. A band that has been together for over 50 years... Throw in a over 60 yea old friendship... We will never know how that must feel. It must be the weirdest thing. Like a married couple, with the whole world watching + birthdays, kids, suicides & addictions. Both have had to put up with a lot.

I don't know about 'calculated', but sometimes people are just not interested in things anymore. And you throw opportunistic people like Walter Yetnikoff into the mix and there you go. 1962-1985 is a loooong time, Mick seems to like a change now and then... I think Mick's biggest problem could be that he's just been more interested in pussy than writing a song that cou

Had the pleasure to see the first episode yesterday. It's very good. James is a good actor and Vinyl is great. It's like a Scorsese movie, except you get more episodes. The dialogue is vintage Scorsese and it's such a great angle to have the industry people be the main characters instead of the rock stars. A great idea and the results are fantastic.
