To me an active year is either touring or a release of newly recorded material. Re-releases keep coming anyway with very little effort from the band members - with an exception for their boss member, Sir Michael Jagger, who, at least, take some part in these re-releases.

Outfits were, more or less, the same in 1981 and 1982. I don't think fashion changed that much between those years. And I don't think their outfits from 81-82 were ever considered fashionable. The 1981-82 tour was the last daytime outdoor show and the last bright colored one (outfits and stage). After that everything was painted black...

I don't know, Hockenheim. I'm not their salesman. I was just airing my own opinion. What I would like them to do. Nothing else.

Why don't they do as Springsteen and Dylan - do a clean sweep and release a lot of material from the vaults. The prospects of a new tour is getting slimmer and slimmer. And I don't think there is a huge demand for a new album (except from hard core fans). I think it has been said here before but I'll repeat it: Time is not on their side anymore. Not on our side either...

You know that also means that this forum will be, more or less, sealed off from what goes on in the world outside the devotion of old rock bands?

Quote24FPS QuoteRockman Same as Live By The Sword is not for sissies …… Bill was right, there's hardly any space for him to perform on that cut. (Although I still like it.) Now I'm curious about the other one he did with Andrew. Maybe he can bounce around a bit more on that one. Well, Bill is considered a swordsman (informal). Maybe that's the reason they picked him for the son

If The Rolling Stones were a Gaussian curve I would put the local maxima between 1968 and 1972 and the local minima at 1964 and 1982. That was the period when they shot to fame and their output really mattered. After that their musical output mattered less and less but their tours were more and more successful. I kind of view it as sow and reap. To narrow it down even more I would say their defin

The R&R Hall of Fame is an American institution. It's main focus is, of course, American artists. Very few non-American acts makes it to the list. To make it to the list the artist need to have made it big in the U.S. market as well. The rest of the world is of no importance.

The basic view in Sweden, and I guess all Nordic countries, used to be that society shouldn't be dependent on hand outs from the very rich. Now that has changed due to neoliberalism and the dismantling of the welfare state. In the US, I guess, that kind om mindset has never existed. Anyway, good on Keith.

You got to hand it to Sir Michael - he has stage presence. He's not just reading straight from the prompter like some others do. These kind of things are different from being a rock star on stage. Scary for some but not for Jagger. I bet he got a goodie bag afterwards...

The two big ones for me were French Connection and Mississippi Burning. I think French Connection was his big breakthrough. In that case rather late into his career.

I think Romania would be out of the question anyway due to, al least, three different reasons: 1) It borders to Ukraine. i.e very close to an ongoing military conflict. 2) It's one of the poorest countries in Europe. 3) The scale of the tour. If they are doing only 14 concerts they will go for the big, rich cities in Western Europe. I think...

He has new material, Seven Psalms, to tour. I guess that is the reason for the tour. True about his voice though but Simon is first and foremost a musician and song writer. Ticket prices - he has probably nothing to do with it and is too old to bother.

Nothing, it seems. No tour, no new material. Nothing uncommon though. In the eighties and nineties they took four years off between tours and recordings. So maybe something in 2029?

I don't know about that. His drug abuse for a big part of the 60s and 70s sets him apart. I do agree though that he the older he grew the more "common" he has become. He survived the drugs. Not everyone does. Good for him.

They changed the bassist - didn't do any good, on the contrary. They have a new drummer - injected youth and energy, but less swing. I was always thinking about what kind of difference a guitarist like Waddy Wachtel would do to the band (or would have done, rather). Since the guitar section is the main drive of the band. What do you think?

What I think Wood had to accept from the get go was being second banana to Keith. I think his good personal skills has served him well there.

Surely Richards had the last word about this. Maybe he didn't want another Taylor? Since Wood lasted for such a long time it's hard to argue it wasn't a good choice though.
