QuoteGasLightStreet I saw Kenny Neal this weekend. I know where Mick will be in January - at his home in Mustique in the West Indies. With Kenny Neal and Buddy Guy and a few other blues players - Kenny Neal said he was going to be with Mick for 2 weeks. Mick won't be working on the Stones album at that time. He will also be joined by UK PM Boris Johnson, fresh from his General

QuoteBliss My own take on Anita was that she was a very elevated kind of groupie. Unfortunately, she had a strong self-destructive streak and took others down with her. But I give her credit for four things: 1. She overcame her worst demons, drugs and alcohol, and managed to survive to her mid-70s. 2. She completed a very competitive and demanding professional course in fashion design at

I wonder if Marianne Faithfull has ever been offered an Honour? 50 year plus career spanning acting (Film and Theatre) and music and literature. Not sure what her reaction would be if offered, however.

QuoteBliss My take - Chas knows that he lives by the sword and will probably die by the sword. That is the gangsters' code. But he tries to escape his fate and takes refuge in what he sees as a rat hole, Turner's hidden world. Out of his element and out of his depth, his defenses crumble due to the drugs he is given and the closed, unfamiliar environment. He develops a kind of Stockholm

Any reason why a late Autumn US tour couldn't be considered. Time then to complete the album?! Near enough to Christmas time to boost album sales. Just a thought though: US Presidential Election in November .....would that be a problem?

QuoteRocky Dijon If he was due to receive a substantial payout (as opposed to simply sharing in ongoing financial participation), it wouldn't end with his death - it would go to his heirs. Murdering him would not prevent anything. Now if one could prove something such as a manager or agent being his beneficiary, then you'd have a murder mystery worth pursuing. Since such info has never

QuoteDGA35 QuoteTaylor1 100 years from now, people will still be listening to the Stonesmusic.I doubt they will be listening to Elton’s. Do you think so? Elton has sold more albums than our Stones have and I'm sure gets more radio airplay. ......And he is still making NEW music. And branched out into film scores and theatre. His charity work for AIDS has been amazing.

I have always had the view that Brian was worth more dead than alive, maybe I am naive? I mean he was due a substantial severance payout and a reasonable secure annual income as part of the settlement. He would also have had the continual trappings of any wealthy pop star (technically broke, but not really), girls, drugs, booze a nice country home etc. Why spoil the party?

Anyone with a serious interest in the film should also check 'The Servant', the Joseph Losey 1963 British film. Very similar themes, especially about the class system at the time Stars James Fox (again), as the young Aristocrat, Dirk Bogarde as his manservant and his 'friend' a very young Sarah Miles. All are superb in the film. The early 60s were certainly a very creative

Maybe they should book some studio time part way through their next US tour. Seemed to work well for them in the 1960's. Just a question of scheduling and of course extending the tour dates. Simples.

Quotemickschix Floodonthepage, yup, I stand by my opinion. I AM entitled to my opinion, am I not?? She ran to Keith when Brian was using her as a punching bag, and later used Mick to make Keith jealous when she slept with Mick during Performance....I saw her as a user who was clever at manipulating most of the band members. Fine if you disagree! She had them under her spell...does she get a medal

The days of putting in a proper full day of work, let alone back to back or consecutive full days of work are far gone. They have a busy social life and attend parties, museums, friends, etc

What's interesting to me is not just the financial side of 'ownership' of your product, but how you 'manage' your assets. So ABKCO's stewardship of the 'golden period' comes in for lots of comment, usually negative...but would the musicians have handled matters any better? In fact would Mick and Keith have found something else to disagree about? Has the po

"Contractural law requires contractural partners to work together and also respect the other partners interests". This fine until the contract expires and one partner holds the copyrights/ masters. So for example early 70s Decca seemed free to issue the most awful of Compilations, with of course the agreement of ABKCO. Until some sort of compromise was negotiated by Prince Rupert. I

Quotepaulspendel When the Stones played Hyde Park in 2013 the Daily Mail ran a story about Keith and Brian and the rumoured knife fight in 1969. The Daily Mail had a lot more stuff and the Stones lawyers and Daily Mail lawyers met backstage. That meeting turned really ugly. The fight was referenced in the Scaduto book. Knife scene and Brian jumping into the Redlands moat. "The Stoned ram

There is no doubt that Anita was a very important person, as far as the group's history goes. I look forward to a detailed and balance biography in due course. One that doesnt just focus on the well documented Keith years, but her years post Keith as she struggled but eventually overcame her various addictions.

This is what I recall from reading Bill's Stone Alone book. Early 1964 the five musicians formed Rolling Stones Ltd. Each became a Director with 20% shares. Mick was Chairman; Charlie the Company Secretary. LOL (According to Companies House (UK) the company was not dissolved until 1993.) Coincidently this was around the time when Bill departed. The move to France in 1971 and the setting

Memo from Turner is an outstanding track. Pretty sure it was released as a single...but the sales were not great (an omen for Mick's future solo efforts?). QuoteRocky Dijon Atlantic rejected the original titles for "Star, Star" and "Short and Curlies." Likewise, the inclusion of "Hide Your Love" was because Ahmet Ertegun was a fan of Mick's tossed-off piano boogies. The addition of strings on "Angie" and "Winter" was the input of Atlantic. Several years later, Atlantic had to be talked into rele
