Quotegotdablouse A slight "improvement" in Italy for March 22nd New cases : +5,560 New deaths : +651 vs March 21st New cases : +6,557 New deaths : +793 I hope they've seen the worst of it... March 23rd: New cases 4790 New Deaths 602 I guess you need to compare 7 days of figures, not daily to feel confident that Italy may be turning the corner. Their ratio

Quotecrholmstrom Just watched daily US task force news conference. Contrary to the WHO, they are telling people testing not that important. It's a total smoke screen to cover up their screw ups (putting it lightly). At this point, I trust the WHO more than the CDC or US government which is a sad state of affairs. Our governor Inslee is doing a good job though. Things are getting really scary

Though it's a worry that South Korea's figures have flat lined for the last couple of weeks. 98 new cases in the last 24 hours. Hong Kong also barely showing any improvement.

QuoteCaptainCorella Quotejlowe Those were the days when The Stones were happy to appear on the small screen, albeit to plug their latest product. Shame that unlike a lot of their contempories (except perhaps Dylan and Led Zepp, for different reasons) they pretty much abandoned the format post 1967. Occasional visits to the Old Grey Whistle Test studios but that was pretty much it, in the UK.

Whilst people are reporting the problem of stocks at Supermarkets little attention in the media to the potential problem of food supplies in the medium term. Singapore, for example imports 93% of its requirements. Others maybe less high, but with travel restrictions how will supplies be delivered? Quite naturally the focus is on the medical front of course. Just a thought though.

I was in Singapore from 29 Feb to 5 March. I wasnt aware of any medical checks at the Airport in/out), maybe they were happening for some travellers and I wasnt aware. Other than a cancelled fireworks and light show event in Manley Bay life appeard to be going on as normal for tourists and I assumed residents. Certainly not a lockdown situation. However, nobody from China was being allowed into

In the UK: On BBC4 20 March 2020 9pm The Story of Ready Steady Go 10pm The Best of Ready Steady Go No doubt the usual Stones clips, but maybe worth a watch. Both listed as 'New' so perhaps not shown before. Followed by a Roy Orbison documentary!

QuoteDoxa Well, aren't Chris Kimsey saying that what was lost due to a flood was his log books, but not the actual master tapes (which I guess where preserved better)? I wonder which album that 'lost' Columbia album was. - Doxa Aah...yes I think I misread, thanks.

Chris Kimsey's description of the 'management'of the Stones recordings is quite startling. Clearly money seems to be no object, but that rather contradicts the view that Mick (in a purely business sense) wants to keep costs down and checks 'every detail'. Also, in regards to attention to detail....would valuable assets (ie master tapes) be kept in an environment where wa

QuoteDandelionPowderman I will (it's too late to stop it now), but I probably don't have common sense The Entertainment industry will already be looking at Christmas and planning releases on an assumption that the worst of the crisis will be over. And the public may then be very receptive to making purchases. It's a business, after all. And meanwhile creative artists, mus

Yes agreed, this maybe the biggest crisis since WW2. I have always thought the Vietnam War was the biggest crisis. In terms of casualties....3 million plus. Dreadful. Could have been avoided? Maybe. But this crisis is or will go worldwide. Somehow, for many people in the UK, Vietnam seemed very a distant problem.

Quotevibrolux Back on page 48 of this thread, BV listed stats to track to understand what's going on. I just discovered a very interesting website that gives some of that info, country by country... I don't know anything about this, so I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but it seems pretty consistent with the reporting I'm seeing. Yes, this seems to be a very good we

UK testing 10,000 a day currently. At that rate by 2035 we should all have got done. WHO guidelines: test, test, test. Appreciate however that there are logistical reasons for not doing more,at the moment.

QuoteFather Ted Quotejlowe Quotegeorgelicks Mick and his son Lucas were both seen at JFK last night, heading to Mustique. Mick not following Government advice, then. Should be in self-isolation, not putting himself at risk. Presumably Mustique can deny him entry. Current UK Government advice to people considering visiting the islands is 'to only travel if it is on essential business&

QuoteCaptainCorella Quotestones40 I live in the U.K. and most people think that it will be over in next 2/3 weeks. That is absolute tripe as it has just killed another 14 people in the in the UK in the last 2 days.( total 71 ) It is due to start peaking in next 10/14 days and Government are saying that worse case scenario is 250.000 people being killed by this horrible virus in the UK.. The UK's Chief Scientific Officer states today that 20,000 deaths in the UK would be a "good outcome" Current figure= 71. China= 3226. Another organisation states 250,000 as a potential end figure (presumably having taken into account the current measures). I believe the death rate from seasonal flu in the UK is around 10,000 per annum, not certain

Two things that annoy me about this particular interview: 1. Crosby doesnt get challenged about his remarks re his finances; clearly he is asset rich, if cash poor. 2. His comments re finances are a bit much coming from an ageing hippie who in his younger days used to criticise big business and wealthy individuals for their obsession with money.

To put it into some perspective, I would imagine that Crosby's main home is worth a substantial amount of money, far more than anyone on this site could hope for. So, do what is required is to downsize and release some cash. Why hang on to a large property when your children have left home?

Quotekeefriffhard4life Quotegotdablouse David Crosby is worried : ? Makes sense but then how is it that a musician of his stature doesn't "have any savings" ? drugs he has to pay for from his liver transplant or whatever it was Surely drugs for his health conditions would be paid by insurance. Recreational drugs are another matter, however doesnt he grow his own though?

Back to the Virus. The Center for Diseases and Prevention (CDC) predict that between 2.4 and 21 million people in the US could require hospitalisation. Presumably this is to reflect best case (measures taken) and no measures (ignore). If I was producing an Academic paper on the subject I would get it sent back. Why not just say 'We don't know'. Because in our 24/7 media age they

Quotebv Quotejlowe Meanwhile David Crosby is concerned that if his up coming tour is cancelled he may 'lose his home'. Says he has no savings. Surely income though from CSNY days? Welcome to the club. He would not be the first homeless. I bet his royalties from "Heart Of Gold" will pay for a shack somewhere. One slight problem. Heart of Gold was written by Neil Young.

Quotestone66 Some rather cynical appraisals of the "Get Back" rooftop concert just above. I think it's fabulous the way all traffic and even business in that part of town just stops almost completely, at the pure awe and wonder of actual Beatles activity in the very midst of their daily movements -- a marvelous testament to how universally esteemed the Beatles were, practically

Any news on Mick's whereabouts? Last I heard he was in Mustique. He doesnt generally stay in one place for too long, partly due to tax reasons. Travel bans will be a big issue for him.

Really looking forward to these releases. Difficult then to see then what Apple can pull of their Archives. May be best to go out on a high rather than scrape the barrel.
