Given Leo's penchant for being surrounded by a gaggle of 20 something models on holiday, I'd be a tad nervous if I were Melanie.

QuoteBeast Does anyone else think that the bearded guy next to Matt Clifford looks like film director Sam Mendes? Especially in the pic without his sunglasses on. It is Sam Mendes. He's a massive cricket fan.

QuoteTopi Open bar's gonna do that to you. If this was just a dinner, let's see what the guests look like when they're leaving the real party! I love the tabloid's breathless reporting that the drinks were free all night - like Mick might have held a Bring a Bottle party or made them pay at the bar!!

Very very pleasing to see Ronnie active and looking well of late.

I've always felt they were still very much in the game with Some Girls. That was when I started listening to them properly and I know quite a few of my contemporaries for whom it was the intro album to the Stones for a generation who grew up well after they were formed. It sounded a fresh and vibrant take on the disco/punkish trends.

It sounds like. It's Keith, of course he won't fly around to world to attend party with 300 people. That's just not how he's like. Birthday partys, funerals... Keith does not car

We don't seem to have a thread for article links yet - and there will be a lot! This is a nice appreciative celebration of how important Mick is and has been to music and entertainment.

Many Happy Returns to Sir Mick. An amazing life so far - may he have many more healthy happy years. You can't always get what you want - but Mick has got closer than most of us.

People are harsh. Ronnie is a professional musician and plainly loves to play and entertain. He's also a recovering addict and cancer survivor - I rather imagine it's good for him to keep busy and live each day to the full. Long may he continue.

Amazed at the the medical diagnosis going on here on so little evidence, especially when Mick has been fairly visible in public recently. Ditto Ronnie, who looked fine a few weeks ago at the James Burton gig - I saw with my own eyes - or as fine as a man of his age in remission from repeated bouts of cancer is likely to look. I may as well join in. I don't like the look of Keith's di

It seems to me that Mick has become a better father as he has got older. It looks as if he has spent more time with Melanie's son as a youngster than pretty much any of his other children. As for money, let's not forget poor Marsha Hunt had to take him to court to get maintenance for his eldest when he was a young man whereas inseams clear Melanie is well provided for.

Struggling to link to photos! I really enjoyed the evening - and most of the performers seemed to as well. There was a late start due to some technical difficulty - we could hear Brian May's plaintive voice saying "Can you hear me?" but the curtain remained down for ten mins. Once they got going the first half was tremendous fun. Ronnie was, appropriately, wearing his blue su

I know it's considered lightweight by some fans but I think Honky Tonk Women is the quintessential Stones song - classic Charlie drum fill, attention grabbing guitar riff, louche opening line in inimitable Mick drawl, sexual innuendo and nonsense lyrics with the best dance beat.

I'm sure there are lots of reasons for Mick's fanatical devotion to exercise and careful diet but his father was surely a big influence, as a fitness instructor.

Quotebakersfield A very sad day. I'm 60 and I've never known a world without the Queen. I think for many of us it was easy to think that the Queen WAS the monarchy.I wouldn't be too hasty to condemn Charles. My uncle, an ex-Royal marine has met him many times and won't hear a bad word said about him. Charles has made mistakes but i think he's an honourable man, playing th

QuoteTheflyingDutchman I remember that Tony Blair more or less had to force the Queen to say a few words in public about Diana's passing. I still wonder what the Queen's relationship between her and her son prince Charles was about . Well that's Blair's account (and he and his wife expressed Republican sentiments in their past) and The Queen does not answer back. We wi

I think all the references to meat and the skin or wrapping (ie the outer covering which disguises the inner content) are a lot more layered than references to hamburgers. As with most Jagger lyrics, he's talking about sex, at least on one level.
