I was there! Sat next to the guy who was recording "Welcome to Washington" unbeknownst to me and when I heard it a few years later, cringed to hear how hyper and ridiculous my inane banter sounded.. so Im far more dignified these days. Lesson learned. A great show that started with a kick ass "Not Fade Away". if memory serves.

Nooooooooooo! In the early-mid 1970s the J Geils Band was a freakin powerhouse. Saw them headline over UFO (with Schenker) in 1975 at the Cap Centre in Largo MD with an unknown Peter Frampton at the bottom of the bill. They destroyed the place. RIP J Geils. A classic American rocker......

Nice to see Keith turn up for Merle but no great shakes vocally or guitar-wise...if that moved you, try the original. Better than "The Nearness of You" though...

A great American original, poet, consummate performer and groundbreaking musician- is there a rock guitarist in the last 50 years who wasn't influenced by Chuck. Thought he might live forever. God Bless Chuck Berry- raise your glass and crank up some Chuck Berry music.

I believe Neil Diamond was there because Robbie was producing (or had just finished producing) his upcoming LP. Coulda done without him but he wasnt awful...Levon said Robbie and Martin Scorcese wanted to cut Muddy to make time for Neil Diamond! Levon said no Muddy = No Levon.

Whats to argue? Charlie Watts has more instinctive jazzy swing in his little finger than Joey Kramer has in his entire body. I'm amazed to see any one minimize Charlie Watts ability or musicianship- as far as the Stones go, he IS the musician of the bunch and universally respected for chops that go way beyond rock music- particularly of the Aerosmith variety.

No Charlie? Why, he's no Joe Bouchard! He's not even Jerry Edmonton. He makes Keef Hartley sound like Aynsley Dunbar...and so on and so forth. ; )

From Blabbermouth.net. What a tool. Flame away! AEROSMITH drummer Joey Kramer says that when it comes to playing live, his band is in a league of its own. He tells Classic Rock magazine: "First of all, as far as AEROSMITH goes there is no band that has been around for almost fifty years that still has the original five guys in the band. "Everybody is always raving about THE STONE

Inspired by the recent Jack Bruce/Mick Taylor Band thread I can't seem to find now- Good Lord, remember the late sixties/early seventies- real musicianship, heroin notwithstanding- absolutely dwarfs todays shite.

Wow- whats the point in re-hashing all this shit? No one here was there or knows any of the people involved personally or has any stake/connection beyond that of the average fan. I'm sure celebrating the wonderful music is what all the members of the Band would prefer you do- not perpetuate alot of negativity Its all starting to sound obsessive and weird and troll fanboy-ish. Play the music

From the Hoffman form- and lets admit that John Simon actually knows the facts... Here's John Simon's perspective on the songwriting question, from a 1999 interview: Q: What's your take on the way the songwriting credits came down? Simon: Oh, I have a finely honed opinion on that. Q: Robbie Robertson says that he tried to get Richard involved and he was also fair when it

Robertson was clearly supplying the vision (and songs)but always came off as full of himself- certainly not as rootsy and down home like-able as Levon. So Robertson generally gets bad PR from alot of Band fans. Perusing the credits on the post-Robertson Band stuff tells the tale (not to mention the Jules Shear anecdote). I was under the impression that most successful bands throw the non-writer

Interesting. Be nice to see the letter than this was a reply to. Lennon is a little full of himself....but then again so are/were Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Great band with enduring influence.
