It was a number 1 in 1966 but for Chris Farlowe, a record that Mick produced. The fact that it was such a huge hit meant that, effectively, the Stones had given Chris "ownership" of the song which might explain why the Stones never played it live. Mick and Chris at 2min 17 sec in this gem of a movie.

From Wiki: "Lady Jane" was written and composed by Jagger in early 1966 after reading the then controversial book Lady Chatterley's Lover, which uses the term "Lady Jane" to mean female genitalia. According to Jagger, "the names are historical, but it was really unconscious that they should fit together from the same period." At the time, it was widely thought

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 QuoteElmo Lewis This from Yahoo: Yeah Elmo, just saw them too. It's weird: I want to say I have seen all these before. These were all taken by Gus Coral on the Everly Bros/Bo Diddley/Little Richard tour in 1963 and were collected together in this book published in 1995. I managed to get a copy a couple of years ago via Amazon Marketplace

QuoteJordyLicks96 Wishful thinking by Brian! Earl Phillips was a drummer who played with Jimmy Reed, Billy Boy Arnold, John Lee Hooker, Snooky Pryor, Eddie Taylor, Howlin' Wolf and many others. This was obviously written after it became clear that Mick Avory wasn't going to play the gig.

QuoteCristiano Radtke The program for the 1963 festival (sorry for the bad resolution, it was the only one I could find on this link, no longer available): Brilliant. This confirms the date and the NOTW involvement. Many thanks.

QuoteCaptainCorella QuoteVideoJames I have a conflict with some of the dates listed in Bill's book. The News of The World gig was on May 11th not May 4th I see people on the site have already mentioned that the date (May 4th)is incorrect. This gig (Battersea Park) was the first gig (May 11th) that Oldham & Easton booked for the Stones after signing them on May 9th.(Brian Jones doing
